How awesome of your dad to join you guys out of the blue like that! Does this mean you guys are doing the Hai Van Pass and the Ha Giang Loop? Tim and Fin did an awesome video many years ago on the Ha Giang Loop and Fin ended up having to get her own bike and learning how to ride it during the trip as the two of them were too heavy for one bike up the mountains. Be very careful as there may be lots of people on the road so a lot more accidents will occur during the holiday there. Get good protective clothing in case you fall as that will not be fun. And I know lots of people risk it for the thrill, but many don't have proper insurance through their insurance companies should a motorcyle accident occur.
Researching our route, we're unsure of the Hai Van Pass because it seems there is a much better road that runs parallel to Hai Van. We both want to did it because of the Top Gear episode though 😂 Ha Giang Loop looks fantastic as well. In the end, our visa situation will probably be the determining factor in if we can do it our not.
@@OnePackWanderers I think if you had to choose one or the other, go with the Ha Giang Loop. But if you have a chance, hit up Ninh Binh (Charl & Christine videos are great) and the amazing caves that Attila and Zae just uploaded (they were inspired by Tim and Fin's 3-day cave tour).
Is this dad? Enjoy your trip there, dad! Be safe and enjoy! Would love to see your first impressions video of Vietnam when you're done being jet lagged. :)
Actually it`s not the Independence Day , but the Reunification Day ( April 30th 1975 ) , ending 12 years of civil war ( from 1963 to 1975 ) between the North and the South , that the Americans call the Viet Nam war and the Vietnamese the American war. The Vietnam `s Independence Day is September 2nd
Ah okay, this makes sense! We asked a guy working at the motorcycle place and he said Independence Day, but I think something was lost in translation. Be it France or America, I suppose Vietnam was dealing with some imperialism.
@@OnePackWanderers September 2rd is the Independence Day of VN with France when president Ho Chi Minh declared Independence to France at Ba Dinh square in Ha Noi , after almost 100 years of colonization . April 30th is the anniversary date of the capitulation of Saigon in 1975
On this day 47 years ago the infamous Vietnam War ended and formed modern Vietnam today. Although Vietnam was then at war with the Khmer Rouge and China until 1989, it was truly an unforgettable day for the Vietnamese.
Such a lot of humour in today's video, great fun! Wonderful that Cheveyo's dad is joining you for the road trip, such an exciting adventure you'll all have together. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the videos. Take care out on those roads guys!
So cool that your father has joined you on your bike tour. Oh my gosh he looks so young. Could pass for an older brother. Hope you all create some wonderful memories.
How fantastic to have your dad with you. It is going to be filled with lifetime memories. I am so proud of you two getting some good gear, not only is it safer, but you will be more comfortable. I am still concerned about the size of your bike but hopefully Tia will get comfortable with riding one of her own. Funny the bike your dad got was the same model I used on my last trip on my Vietnam ride. it was perfect. Once you get out of the city you're going to have such a great time. But frankly as you mentioned the chaotic nature of driving in cities is actually a real rush once you adapt. Have fun and keep the rubber side down.
On your advice, we also bought proper shoes and riding gloves. So thank you for that! Our reasoning with the small, semiautomatic bike is that it will be much easier for Tia to learn on a tiny 98kg bike with no clutch. She's never driven anything with a manual transmission so on top of everything else, she's a bit intimated already. Hopefully our gamble pays off 😂 Between the lighter weight and the gears, I will say the 110 Blade feels about as quick as the 155 CVT bikes we've rented.
@@OnePackWanderers I Think your logic makes sense. I think Tia will rise to the occasion and end up being a big fan of riding. I have a couple of female friends that are great riders. One of them I have already ridden with in Vietnam, and will hopefully join me again later this year. Your dad is going to have a great time. Never too old. I was 70 last time and will be 73 this next trip, so he's still a youth LOL

Getting better all the time - you two (and now three) make such good videos - it looks so spontaneous but that's the trick - great creative productios and really fun to watch - I am looking forward to my SE trip next year and these vids are a great help.
Would have been neat to get dad's first impression. I still cannot believe he hopped a flight to ride with you guys - so cool! BTW, Tia, you do dump that flavored fish sauce in the bowl then stir and mix everything before eating. That's similar to the bun thit nuong I was telling XO to provide to tourists during their food tours as it's delicious and I think most Westerners will love that. There's different iterations of it out there but all are great. If you can get one with fried spring roll, it's even better. :)
Hey thanks for the tip on eating it! We are here for a while and have lots of time to figure out how to eat stuff, similar to Thailand. It's a fun, slow learning experience for us 🙂 Fried spring roll sounds excellent 😋

How much were the smaller bikes (per person) and what was the cost of all the protective gear (per person)? Did tia have to get a motor cycle license? Or did she just ride using a IDP from the US based on her regular car license?
Fulltime traveling seems amazing but I'm sure it's wonderful to see family after such a long time away from home! ☺️ So cool that Cheveyo's dad was able join you for this adventure! I've tried durian candies and I didn't like the taste at all 😂
oh you're suppose to pour the sauce in the noodles (for the pork noodles) :) ...So the noodles becomes a bit wet. How much you pour in is up to your taste.
You guys are having a blast with Asian food. Just a tip, there are 3 extreme food in Asia, the first is Durian, also known as king of fruits (it's an acquired taste), the second is "Chou Tofu" also known as smelly tofu (this is found more common in Taiwan and China), and the last is "Ma La" which is translated as numbing spicy (its a whole other level of chili that you can never imagine, for some it is surprisingly addictive). Enjoy~!

Driving a motorbike in Vietnam is really an interesting experience. Wishing you all the best and good luck on your journey
😄😄😄
It is really something 😂 Never experienced anything like it, even in neighboring countries 😅
Safe journeys to the three of you.
So nice to have family. 😊🙋🙏
Awesome! Enjoy!
I've tried durian candies and I didn't like the taste at all 😂
Whats up Wanderers + 1! That is so awesome to have family over. Nice helmets. Have fun!!!
Love the energy you guys bring to us.
pour the sauce into the noodle, give it a good mix and then enjoy the bowl of noodle, try it like that next time.
oh you're suppose to pour the sauce in the noodles (for the pork noodles) :) ...So the noodles becomes a bit wet. How much you pour in is up to your taste.
You crossing the street makes me laugh every time. 😹
Enjoy~!
Thanks for the tips! We have heard nothing but bad things about smelly tofu 😂
I love watching you to travel Viet Nam. Hope you make more videos like that
riding motor bike is one of the best activity to do in the city, its very relaxing and fun after you get use to the traffics. Stay safe and enjoy your times there in Viet Nam. Love ya'll contents btw, keep up the good work.
You are absolutely right, it has a certain relaxing quality after a while 🙂
