  • Auto Transport Tips for Hauling Cars with Dave at Adesa Auto Auction
    You know Dave Williams of Clarksville Trucking, right? Watch Dave at Adesa.
    Dave is a hard working Car Hauler with a Wally-Mo 4 car trailer and today he's dropping off a repo car (Kia Forte) and picking up one that's already been sold (Chevy Silverado). He's already unloaded the Kia from his auto transport trailer and now ready to go check it into the Adesa auto auction. First, he'll need to drive the car to the Adesa check-in lane where they will scan the car into their auto transport inventory system. Then, he will find the Chevrolet truck, drive it back to his wally mo 4-car trailer, load the vehicle onto his transport trailer and then strap it down tight. While doing this, he will be pointing out best auto transport tips for hauling cars for new car haulers to and from an auto auction. For new a car hauler, this information is extremely helpful. (If you are a new transporter and you are new to car hauling, you may want to watch this auto transport advice video twice). #adesacarhauling #adesaautoauction #adesa
    Adesa Auto Auction is a Leading Provider of Vehicle Remarketing Services
    The Kia that Dave is delivering to Adesa was picked up and loaded at a repossession lot in Tennessee. You'll find a repo car like this one constantly being brought to auto auctions for weekly sale. All across the country, thousands of repo cars and lease turn-ins are transported by car haulers regularly so that they may be added to the inventory and sold at the next auction block. The same is true for dealerships, but those are cars that get sold at the auto auction and transported to the car dealership so that it may be sold to a customer. So if you think about it, car haulers and auto transporters are vital to the logistics and ecosystem of auto auctions receiving and distributing their inventory. That's why organization at check-in and pick up are so important to the transporter, the shipper, and the auction.
    Auto Transport Advice: Working with a Car Shipping customer while Loading and Transporting Vehicles
    Shippers and brokers regularly call transporters for status updates about the cars they are having transported. While these phones calls can sometimes be a hassle while car loading, drivers and dispatchers understand that customers shipping a car need to be updated and have communication about when and where to meet a driver for pick up or delivery. Ultimately, with everyone working together with a mutual understanding of flexibility and patience - the auto transport industry functions in a regular cycle of auto auction cars needing to be shipped all the way to being delivered.

    Car Hauling Auto Transport Tips at Adesa Auto Auction
    Upon delivering a vehicle to the auto auction, new car haulers need to know where to go: the security guard shack. This is where obtaining gate passes and being ready to supply copies of dispatch sheets and VINs helps keep the process moving smooth and organized. As we continue moving into the digital age, photocopies and faxes are fast becoming emails and electronic bills of lading. Whether using paperwork or digital documents, obtaining signatures from shippers and locations can be defining moments in auto transport.
    Free Auto Transport Advice: Conduct A Proper Vehicle Inspection BEFORE loading cars on your car hauling trailer
    Always check the VIN first! Skipping this step can be costly later. Immediately start taking pictures and begin your inspection. Always do this before touching or moving the vehicle. Be sure to take pictures of every side of the vehicle. For example, taking a picture at each corner of the vehicle can help ensure coverage. And for noting damages, taking clear and well-lit close up shots of damage is well worth the extra effort. Remember: types of damage can vary so being specific and noting every type of damage on the bill of lading is necessary to protect against damage claims. Using special care in car hauling is an investment into saving time and money!

    Over-the-wheel straps are preferred by most auto transport brokers and vehicle shippers (whereas a lasso strap can leave marks on tires and chains can scratch axles and undercarriages). Your hands are your main tools, so you'll also want to be sure to wear gloves to keep your hands protected and uninjured.
    THANK YOU DAVE WILLIAMS of CLARKSVILLE TRUCKING! You Make Car Hauling Awesome!

    I realize this is an old video but I just wanted to point out something... Dave reminds us that two wheels must be strapped and takes the additional step to tell us he straps the front left so that he can see the strap in his rear view. Little tidbits of info like that are priceless! Something that most of us wouldn’t think of doing! Thanks Dave!

    The point about routine and doing the “360” probably the most important of all points made. If you do it the same way every time, you’ll never forget anything. It took me a while to learn that(and a couple lost winchbars!) I’d work with this guy, only one thing I’d do differently and that is, always run 4 straps! Especially on a full size pickup. I know the law says 2 required, but I’ve also had a few come loose, then your down to one. Not good if dot happens to take a look. Anyway, not trying to pick on him, but the more professional we are, the better.👍🏻

    What trailer car haulers for private use with F450 no cdls?

    • @brianyourdotguy6535
      @brianyourdotguy6535 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any trailer, just have to make sure the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) correct to stay under CDL. In most states this means the truck and trailer gross vehicle weight ratings can't add up to more than 26,000 pounds. Look at the door sticker on your F450, it should have a GVWR of 14,000 pounds so you can pull a trailer up to 12,000 pounds. If your truck has either a higher or lower GVWR adjust accordingly.

    • @ATIAutoBusiness

      Many factors to that answer, including: region of the country, proximity to a running lane, condition of the vehicle, size of the load, urgency of pick up and delivery, etc. Do you have some of that info so I can give you a price range?

    • @ictpilot

    I have a 98 Dodge Cummins and a 14k trailer. I need to bring home about $3000 a month. Do you think this is feasible? I also have a class A CDL.

    • @ATIAutoBusiness
      @ATIAutoBusiness  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's the total length of your trailer? If it's a single car, I don't think 3 grand a week will happen. Maybe on a 2 car. But expect to drive 5-6 days a week to get there. Where are you located and are you looking for a dispatcher referral?

      Have you also considered hotshot hauling? In car hauling, you're only going to be able to move 1 car or truck at a time - and that probably won't get you to $3K a month. You might want to watch my video about Hotshot Car Hauling 101: th-cam.com/video/R-607gwC4zI/w-d-xo.html
