Hey jay. Thank you so much I'm starting my car transportation business in 10 days I have a F 350 and 32 ft 2 car trailer I really have learned allot stuff from your video
That is so awesome! Thanks for the great feedback! 2-car trailers are perfect for hauling big customized trucks and sprinter vans. And there are a lot of those out there! Also, try not to take less than 80 cents a mile on your anchor loads. And when in doubt, get the curb weight on the crazy stuff. I knew a 2-car that had an over-sized ambulance cause severe trailer damage in the mountains. And who knew electric powered vans weigh so much with their giant rechargeable batteries?

Hey Jay I’ve been wanting to start a Transport business but at the moment I only have a 1 car hauler open trailer. you think that would be a great way to start. Would I make some kind of money. I’m in California and also great videos.

Hi I've been trying to get into hauling cars around the Detroit area and beyond by starting my own business. I'm doing a business plan now my question is about the daily operating cost how much money do you need a day to break even. Thanks for the info
Thanks for the question. To fully answer this, you must try to take into account ALL operating expenses which includes all licensing requirements, all vehicle expenses, and all business expenses. To get your arms around it, I recommend reading my latest blog post: Auto Transport Business Startup www.autotransportintel.com/car-hauling-dispatcher/how-to-start-new-auto-transport-business/ as well as joining the Live Chat on a Tuesday Night during my live show. Please remember to Like any video that helps you be sure to Subscribe. Thanks, again.
Auto Transport Intel thank you for the info i did my first business proposal last week and I'm currently in the process of making revisions now hoping to get started by the spring.
Thanks for the question, but I don't dispatch anymore. However, I can point you in the right direction. 2 recommendations, 1) Click here to sign up for ATI info and a dispatcher referral: autoconversion.net/autotransportintel/sign-up/ 2) Watch Dispatching LIVE! for tips and advice: th-cam.com/play/PL9Iq3gMukvmzoSCIbSWHtsaD2xUItYZGG.html
Thanks for the question. On average, enclosed loads in your area are listing on load boards under $1/mile per vehicle, but I would expect you're looking to earn nearly twice that. Personally, I have always found the enclosed business much harder to penetrate and thrive in than open transport, but I also strongly believe in serving niche markets and specialty services. So my recommendation for you is to ask Serge The Car Hauler and check in with some Facebook groups focused on Enclosed Car Hauling. Thanks again for watching and I hope to hear from you about your progress.
I’ve been watching your videos for the past couple months. I like them, and I have learned a lot. I want to get into auto transporting eventually. My question is, what advice can you give me on someone who wants to start dispatching and get their feet went in the business? Thank you for your time.
Thank you so much for the nice comments - and for watching my videos. No doubt, researching this now will be a great investment for later on. And to understand dispatching, it's really good to understand how many expenses car haulers take on and how important it will be for you to fight for the best carrier rates possible. I highly recommend you watch some live shows because I cover current topics while drivers talk about rates that they simply won't accept. And I hope to eventually see you in the live chat on a Tuesday night. Thanks, again.
Hello, Jey! Thanks for your video, I am just starting in this and want to ask what do you mean "difference $3000 and $5000/week" is that dispatcher profit or car hauler gross?
Do you dispatch for multiple carriers? Are you a broker or carrier with your ow authority? If you are a dispatcher for multiple carriers with no authority and you represent each carrier separately, how do you work it with Central Dispatch? Do you have each carrier sign up under themselves or do you run the software under your company with or without carrier or broker authority? We are a Freight Dispatch Service in that we find loads for multiple carriers. DAT board allows us to be dispatchers for multiple carries.
Hi, Steven. I don't dispatch anymore, but I would like to discuss these topics on our Thursday live show: th-cam.com/video/WLppUU-Lfio/w-d-xo.html Hope you can join us.
Jay I have a 350 1ton DRW and 3 car trailer from South Alabama Gulf Coast area starting my business in about 30 days the videos are great! how do things look hauling from my area? Thanks!

Wayne, I also wanted to mention that having a working winch can help you a lot in that area. Plus, if you can get a TWIC card, a 3-car trailer in that area should be able to do pretty good. I hope that helps - and thanks for watching.
Hey there Sue here, It will put in in the new highighted loads if that is what you mean? Also you can also refresh them as well it will usually highlight them unless they took that away too but i know if you change the price it comes up brandnew.
HI Jay, you make me in love with this field, I have a question please, I want to be an independent dispatcher like you just said we need to be familiar with Load board, how it is possible to get access with the board without a MC# and Dot# ? this question is all over the internet people asking this question over and over if you make a video about this matter it's will be great because there is no video about it please. but you can still answer my question thank you.
Thanks for the question! And you're right. It's like dispatchers aren't part of the ecosystem! The fact is, there is currently no way to get access to the load board without an MC # (that I know of). Do you know any drivers? What if you offered to help a driver on a trial basis and that way you can access the load boards with their account? Also, have you watched my Dispatcher Training Series? th-cam.com/video/c6Q5JYFtYNI/w-d-xo.html And if that's not enough, you can email me to learn more about my 1-on-1 dispatching coaching services at: autotransportintel@gmail.com Thanks, again.
Hey bud. I see 3 ways.... 1) u call central dispatch and see what ur options are as a dispatcher. 2) get ur mc# 3) Get an O/O and have an agreement to use their info and in turn to them u dispatch them free. Then u use it to dispatch everyone else...
My understanding is that any cargo you are carrying is subject to search by DOT or police enforcement officers under the rules of interstate commerce. My guess is this rule of law still applies even if you only haul within one state. So always assume: Yes.
Hi Jay! Question? I am going to start working as a dispatcher for 10 car haulers. How much should I ask for what is the percentage of each load? I will also be handling the administrative side. The owner is telling me 3% plus bonuses for administrative. Not sure if this is feasible. How much time do you put into working each day. I will be dispatching for at least 3 10 car haulers. I have done the brokers side but not too familiar with the dispatching side. Please advise if you would. I will start working for a load going out this coming Monday.
Hi Gloria. These are great questions - but right off the bat I'm worried about the 3% offer. I don't think that's going to be enough for you to sustain this work load. I've never worked for 3%, but I also know how the owner feels about paying for a dispatcher, so oftentimes it comes down to experience and value. If you do start at 3, maybe make a 90-day window, after which you go to 4%, and in 6 months with a revenue goal, go to 5%. To me, 5% can be reasonable. But the trucking industry is tough like that. Everyone from brokers to owners to dispatchers feels underpaid - and we all just keep getting squeezed. Also, 10-car haulers are challenging, and 3 of them can feel overwhelming. So be ready to watch as often possible, but you can do it. Watch all of my videos and learn how to talk to brokers. Don't be afraid to make calls and learn from mistakes. No matter what happens, this will be great work experience and could lead somewhere. Best of luck in your journey! And thanks for watching.
hey gloria I will put in my 2 cents as well lol no 3% is not enough i charge 9% that is finding verifiying and all administrative work per driver now working for one company may be different but keep in mind if they are not running you are not making money so if they are all off at xmas time you have no income coming in i would either ask for a salary or higher % so when they are off you have some socked away or if salary you are covered for off time
Because the carrier rates to Florida usually doesn't cover the price of trying to get back out of Florida. However, turning around with 50 or 100 miles of cities like Orlando and Tampa can work fine, but getting out of Miami is extremely competitive.
The answer is essentially: Yes. Because nearly all of the loads posted on load boards are in fact posted by brokers. And brokers will tell you that only licensed brokers are the only companies legally authorized to post loads for transport (even though you will find some carriers posting loads they simply cannot move themselves). Which is important to keep in mind if you talk to someone that is not a licensed broker but is posting loads for transport on load boards. Hello. In general, Federal CDL requirements have to do with the amount of weight (GVWR) you are moving or carrying, but some state laws take it a step further. I recommend you join my 8pm live show on Tuesday Night and chat with veteran car haulers about this. I see excellent advice there every week! Until then, here's a link to help point you in the right direction: www.truckingtruth.com/cdl-training-program/page1/who-is-required-to-get-a-cdl And yes, overall, most career drivers do obtain their CDL. I hope that helps.
Yes, you can haul without a CDL, but there will be legal limitations as to what you can drive, what you can haul and where you can go. Researching online and talking to a compliance officer is your best bet. And joining the live chat with experienced haulers on Tuesday nights during my live show. Hope to see you there.

Thank you for the question. Right now, I am not able to take on any new clients, but I'm curious what city you are located in and how many cars you are thinking about hauling. I'd also like to know how you are getting your information to start up your business. Do you find it hard to get this info?
Hi. I am in Fontana ca. I a newer CDL holder and I happened to get lucky and land a job with a car hauling company that had me just deliver not load the cars and is slowly teaching me how to load the vehicles etc. my business plan is to pay most of the 10 speed tractor truck off right from the get go. I wanted to also purchase a trailer that I would be like 8 maximum vehicles maybe less and run along the West Coast but eventually run in my own state/local. Hope you can direct me to load boards or other ideas to make my dream happen. Thanks and Happy Holidays to you and yours. Tony
That company job does sound lucky! Hang on to it as long as it makes sense. Then, when you're ready to book your own loads, check out www.centraldispatch.com/ - biggest load board but subscription costs over $100/month. In your area, also check out runbuggy.com/ and be sure to sign up with 1Dispatch when you can: ratloads.com/ Don't forget to join the Live Chat here on a Tuesday Night and please Like any video that helps you. It's a good question - and a topic of debate. I've heard that car hauling pays better than other types of cargo, but then I've heard flat bed owners say they only book cars as fillers. Overall,I think most business owners will tell you it's about your customer relationships and what kind of contracts and deals you can make - regardless of the type of freight. I hope that helps, and please keep us posted of what you find out.
Hi, Wally. Let's talk. Please email me at: autotransportintel@gmail.com Please provide your company name, best phone number, and what kind of routes you're thinking about. Thank you for checking in.
Ask for Sue at Murphy Auto Transport Services. She works directly with carriers. Technically, she's a broker. And a dispatcher. And she's very unique and fair. murphyautotransportservices.com/
Are you a signed up with CarsArrive Network? They have some good paying trucks listed. Ready Logistics has some great paying INOPs - if you are up for that kind of stuff - but watch out for NO KEYS! But most importantly - are you searching for loads on Central Dispatch? Also, are we talking Detroit to Cleveland - or Columbus?
I sent you an email as requested. Check out the MI dealership: Betten Baker Chevrolet Buick - looks like they have a lot of loads from OH-MI. Also, CarsArrive has a lot listed from MI to OH and RATloads has a lot going North. All in all, should be easy to keep your 3-car trailer profitable. Of course, keep me updated on the cost of tolls and competition with other car haulers. Detroit is on my list of best cities to find good paying loads.

We should talk. Visit our Transport Business Coaching website at CTSbusinesscoaching dot com so we can help you get started on the right foot.
Really like your explanation in your vids
Thank you! I really appreciate that. I hope you can make it to a Tuesday night live show sometime.
Jay
I have a 350 1ton DRW and 3 car trailer from South Alabama Gulf Coast area starting my business in about 30 days the videos are great! how do things look hauling from my area?
Thanks!
Hi, Wayne. Thanks for asking. Please join me in the live chat tonight at 8pm Central Time and let's take a look.
Thanks!
What is the link to the live chat tonight?
After you are subscribed to my Auto Transport Intel channel, be sure to click on the notification bell so you don't miss any updates. When I go live on Tuesday nights at 8pm you will see a TH-cam pop up window on your device. Just click on that to join the live chat. Thanks.
Wayne, I also wanted to mention that having a working winch can help you a lot in that area. Plus, if you can get a TWIC card, a 3-car trailer in that area should be able to do pretty good. I hope that helps - and thanks for watching.
I am assuming hauling from the State Docks....? Great info Thank you! I am sure I will be picking your knowledge for more info..again Thanks a ton!
f550 are fine
even f650 or 750
or 2 of them
but u charge 1.3/1.4$ a mile
Salam bhai u know about this work tell me about this work
Thank you , very motivational...🙏🔥🏃
Hello, I'm a broker. If i have a car on CD for a couple days and then I boost the price on that load will it put it in the "new loads" catagory?
Hey there Sue here, It will put in in the new highighted loads if that is what you mean? Also you can also refresh them as well it will usually highlight them unless they took that away too but i know if you change the price it comes up brandnew.
@@murphyautotransportservice9333 Thank you so much!
Was extremely helpful I'm new in business I do I find someone like you to help me find and book loads I'm based in Ohio Batavia area
Glad to hear it! Please join us on Thursdays at noon central time for Dispatching LIVE!
2) get ur mc#
3) Get an O/O and have an agreement to use their info and in turn to them u dispatch them free. Then u use it to dispatch everyone else...
Hello jay do the cars you haul get searched by the police?
And thanks for watching.
hey gloria I will put in my 2 cents as well lol no 3% is not enough i charge 9% that is finding verifiying and all administrative work per driver now working for one company may be different but keep in mind if they are not running you are not making money so if they are all off at xmas time you have no income coming in i would either ask for a salary or higher % so when they are off you have some socked away or if salary you are covered for off time
Why did you say you were not going to go to Florida?
Because the carrier rates to Florida usually doesn't cover the price of trying to get back out of Florida. However, turning around with 50 or 100 miles of cities like Orlando and Tampa can work fine, but getting out of Miami is extremely competitive.
Great tutorial, thank you for your time.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
hi jay , im about to start working with a trailer of one car in the washington dc area, is it worth it?
Hello. I invite you to visit my Transport Business Coaching website and let me know what you think: www.ctsbusinesscoaching.com/ Thanks.
Do u have to go through a broker to book loads off of load boards?
The answer is essentially: Yes. Because nearly all of the loads posted on load boards are in fact posted by brokers. And brokers will tell you that only licensed brokers are the only companies legally authorized to post loads for transport (even though you will find some carriers posting loads they simply cannot move themselves). Which is important to keep in mind if you talk to someone that is not a licensed broker but is posting loads for transport on load boards. any information about dispatchers in canada?
Good question. Just to be clear, are you looking for a Canadian car hauling load board dispatcher?
Do you recommend to used it only iny state Texas ..?
Frank, are you asking about Central Dispatch?
@@ATIAutoBusiness yes
Since Texas is a big state, I'd say Yes, it can be helpful. I hope you can tune in on Thursday for Dispatching LIVE! so we can take a closer look for you: th-cam.com/video/WLppUU-Lfio/w-d-xo.html
Are you accepting new O/O carriers to dispatch for?

Hi Jay if I have a 2 car hauler do I need CDL
I seen a job ad where it states non cdl car haulers needed??
Yes, you can haul without a CDL, but there will be legal limitations as to what you can drive, what you can haul and where you can go. Researching online and talking to a compliance officer is your best bet. And joining the live chat with experienced haulers on Tuesday nights during my live show. Hope to see you there.
@@ATIAutoBusiness awesome thank you sir

About how much would a local 3 or 4 car hauler make weekly? I’m in Dallas by the way
If you run in TX only, the average car to Houston/San Antonio lists for about $150. There are also loads running west towards Midland and El Paso, but not as consistently. Hi, Terrance. Do you know about my Transport Business Coaching website? www.ctsbusinesscoaching.com/ Please let me know what you think or if you have questions. Thanks.
I am thinking about hauling cars. How much do you charge to dispatch?
Brother u think U can makes more money than flatbed? By hauling cars?
It's a good question - and a topic of debate. I've heard that car hauling pays better than other types of cargo, but then I've heard flat bed owners say they only book cars as fillers. Overall,I think most business owners will tell you it's about your customer relationships and what kind of contracts and deals you can make - regardless of the type of freight. I hope that helps, and please keep us posted of what you find out.
Hi Jay.
I'm new to the business,I have E4 car carrier from Kaufman Do you dispatch New Jersey?

How can I hire a Car hauler for one car without using a broker??
Ask for Sue at Murphy Auto Transport Services. She works directly with carriers. Technically, she's a broker. And a dispatcher. And she's very unique and fair. murphyautotransportservices.com/

hey buddy any way you can find me loads from mi to oh?
Hello. I can try. When are you picking up, what city, and how many units you looking for?
3 units and i to to mi to oh or mi to il email me please king.transporters@gmail.com
Detroit is on my list of best cities to find good paying loads.
how to i get a contract with that dealer ship do i just walk in there and speak with the manager?

@@ATIAutoBusiness how much does it cost per month to join the central dispatch website I am in Texas near Houston Texas
You'll want to check with Central Dispatch, but last I heard their basic carrier subscription rate was $115/month.
Or you can invest in ads in Hemming Motor News and Classic Car's for sale, Old Truck and Car Trader.....and after 3 months you will have all the business you can handle with one truck. Just take care of your customer's!
Great advice, Don! Would love to hear more about you and your business.
@@ATIAutoBusiness LOL. I am retired. The business I was a company participate of has been sold to a larger firm. I did it all....it was fun.....but high stress once we got to a million dollars a month. I always got to take out a new truck on it's first run. I will say this to you: "There are shippers out there who move hundreds of cars every month and NO ONE in the car hauling biz are aware of even today! Look for it!
