Great yarn. Rotten day. Reminds me a bit about 1972 - the time I tried to ride my A10 side car outfit, (girl friend in sidecar) over the Holy Island causeway when the tide was already well over the time you can cross. First gear, plenty of revs and in we went. Seemed fine until the side car started floating and rising and falling with the waves. Front of the chair dug into the waves and tonnes of water ran up the 'deck' and into the girl friend's lap - much screaming and swearing. The North Sea is cold, even in August. It didn't stop mind - the motor, and neither did the swearing.... Not for a while at least.
Told brilliantly that ,I feel your pain! What we have to endure as Motorcyclists. I had the same from a" lovely" lady in a Range Rover sport coming at speed whilst I was half way through a flooded part of a lane she sped past creating a bow that went straight over my head and into my lap. Even the white van man behind me shouted out of his window at her..... Then they complain when we filter to the front of traffic??. We do need Jet skis not motorcycles at the minute though.
“…hold you under the water until you stop bubbling” 😂 That’s about what I would have told him, too! I’m glad you got through it alright, but that 7 mile walk home must have been miserable. I look forward to seeing your work on the Interceptor 650.
Those vans are a menace, everywhere in the world! I have few stories like that myself .. But most recently, my almost new 125 scooter died on me in front of the super market on my commute back home. I did not know what the heck is going on.. I thought that the fuel pump died because did not hear it but it was too noisy from all the people and cars.. So, I push the scooter all the way home few kilometers uphill .. I was drenched from sweat ... The next day autopsy started and the first thing always is to check the spark plug... And then I found it.. The high voltage cable snapped just before the spark plug.. on 4000 km scooter.. The cable was hard as a rock.. Next day bought some HQ silicone cable and all was fine after that.. So I have pushed motor bikes back home about 3 times now... Snapped chain on Kawasaki KZ 250 .. Dirty carbs CBR 600 F2 ... HV cable 125 scooter
The joys?. I can mind back in 93,we got temperatures of -13. I had a 70 mile round trip commute on a Honda VT500. There were times I felt like letting go of the handlebars and just let an ambulance take me home. But the good days have always outnumbered the bad days so I'll just hang in there.
"I'll take all my clothes off and get in your car. And she backed off". Not surprised 😂😂😂. These types of days are sent to try us sometimes. Glad you won in the end and this story will get funnier over the years as the edges wear off 😊
If I'm having a bad day I'll keep this video in mind and I'm sure my day won't seem so bad! - there's always an idiot or two who'll drive with zero consideration for a more vulnerable road user - very entertaining story!.
Enjoyed that Dave. Reminded me of the time riding my new second hand 400. I was having such a good time, I ran out of petrol. Had to push it miles and nearly collapsed with the heat. The joys of motorcycling indeed 😂
Morning VB, what a tale. I'd guess the sudden cooling of the cylinder head by the tsunami, shrank the exhaust valve guide, quicker than the valve stem diameter, and at slow revs, seized the valve. Wrt your day, absolutely terrible, though I can see that in the future, down the pub, it will be a great tale to raise some laughter, but not yet a while! Keep up the good work 👍
Dave what can I say you just made my day what an absolute classic of a story that was I know you would have been raging at the time but what a story in the words of a song Things can only get better its the way you tell them just brilliant
Nice story, a non called adventure, where the joy of riding a bike, even that didn’t save you sir, to avoid a not so pleasant experience. It’s all good when in the end things turn out to be ok, or bearable. The remains, is a funny story for the collection, its the positive reading of the event. It’s Life happening. With its, some times, strange moods. “It’s funny how sometimes falling feels like flying, for a little while”, isn’t it? Better luck and better whether next ride! Be well, and thanks for sharing.✌️
Very entertaining monologue and story of a day on a motorcycle in the winter in the UK.. nice one!! From a biker in the highlands west coast of Scotland .
What a day! I suppose the only saving grace was that the RE engine wasn't wrecked! Its weird how misfortunes rarely seem to strike one at a time. After that experience, you would have been entitled to just go back to bed but you soldiered on, well done!
What a Day.. what a Day ! What is Wrong with Some Drivers these Days ? Common Courtesy Towards Other Road Users seems To have Gone out the window at Least the Old Lady in The Car Stopped for You ,& then the Kind Couple Let You Put your Bike In The Drive & the Cafe Stilll did You Something To Eat .so the Good outweighed The Bad .. the Van Driver will get His Karma sooner Or Later What goes around .. Glad to hear you got home in One Piece !👌Those White Van Man drivers just don't give a Fuq. It makes you wonder if he'd of carried on regardless if he knocked you off. Off Topic: It's worth a visit down at Andy Tiernan's Classics. I went there once with £5k in my pocket hoping to find something but there wasn't much there under £5k.
There ain't no cure for stupid; well there is but it's pretty final. Sorry to have had a few chuckles at your expense, but I've been there. Your channel just popped up and I loved your yarn, thanks mate. Subscribed. (Used to live in Tewkesbury; loved it there.)
Sorry to hear about your recent experience as a submariner ! We've had our fair share of flooding in my corner of Suffolk as well, like yourself I know where it tends to flood & how deep it gets in those areas. I can get through either on a bike or in my 07 plate Ford Focus with caution, however the worst spot can often have several cars abandoned in it partially blocking the road. Always due to idiots hitting the flood at warp factor 10, it always amuses me on the odd occasion I approach the area with caution to find a few 4x4's waiting at the other side not wishing to try getting through. I just put on my hazards slowly proceed through in the middle of the road & give them a cheery wave & a smile as i pass them ! Godd job you were on a Bullet, I dont think a modern bike would have survived the experience as well.

The GS boys and their chicken boxes will be loving this weather. 😂 🇬🇧
Well VB, What a day that was, glad you and the bike are ok, funny how these van drivers give all the verbal and threats and then brick it when you give 'em it back, look forward to the Interceptor job,,, take care my friend and safe riding..
😂Awesome!😂 Well done for keeping your cool, it’s strange to hear someone else suffer at the hands of cagers. I am inspired by your resolve and endurance 👏👍👌
Your narration of that story was excellent Dave l could picture everything perfectly, well done for not killing anybody 😂 Glad the bike was sorted quickly too, take care bud 🌊
Aw mate I'm really sorry but listening to you tail of woe had me in stitches, 😂 tears running down my legs laughing. Glad it ended well and you dried out. Stay safe, Dave, (that bloke on a motorbike)🎉
What a great story. I'm probably about the same age as you and can work hard, but obviously not near as tough as you. Hope you don't catch pneumonia. Take care.

That was a bad day, never go anywhere without a phone or some cash, and carry the phone on you, not in a tank bag or top box, also you could have rang the accountant when you got home getting the van? subbed.
Wow! what a day you had Dave. Can you expect any more from some drivers today though. As you will be aware when riding a motorcycle, you have to be aware of those trying to kill you. Glad you were able to rescue the bike and it is still working ok. 😊👍🏍
It’s the way you tell ‘em fella…you definitely made me chuckle 🤣 from now on whenever I’m having a bad day I’ll think of you and this video 👍🏻 Just goes to show how “brainless idiots” (to put it lightly and not swear) can totally ruin your day without even trying ! Glad to hear that the bike is fine though and no damage done. 👌🏻
Pretty sad that you walked 7 miles home and no-one offered to help you out or give you a ride. I had a good chuckle about the "hold you under the water..." comment lol. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us as painful as it must have been. Thankfully sounds like it all worked out well in the end.
I had a similar experience years ago, while driving in upstate New York. There was about a foot of water in the road ahead, so I slowed down. Just as I was about to enter the flood, a prat in a white van came at about 60 mph from the other side. I got hit with a tsunami of water right over the roof of the car, obscuring my vision, I could not see where I was going, disoriented, I braked hard, the next thing the car did a 180 degree turn, and I ended up broadside on to approaching traffic in the middle of the road. Luckily, there was little traffic at the time. This aggressive and stupid attitude by the van driver, could have had much worse outcomes.
i had the same thing happen a few years ago the bow wave from this car went straight over the top of me all i could see was brown dirty water cascading all over me i was like you furious ! the lady driver had conked out in the car she had at least 3 children with her i just shook my head didn't waste my breath on her i don't think people realise the damage they do to the vehicle slamming into water
Hi VB, It's Pete, just watched your video on your woes of motorcycling, it makes you think why do you do it! Are we all mad 😂😂, but I hope you don't mind me saying listening to your accent I was thinking to myself, I heard you voice somewhere just recently, and it was when my granddaughter was down for Christmas and we were watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and I kid you not you sound just like Lionel Jeffries and I bet you you could play the part of him in a play he was singing the song "POSH" when it clicked and you even seem to live in that sort of style house in the film, only yours isn't a car that is in the garage it's an Enfield 650 interceptor that's gone in one thing and going to come out another 😂😂. Yeah the similarities are definitely there you will have to listen to him singing that song, it does sound like you Anyway all the best Yeah your interceptor should look good when it's finished that's the beauty of Royal Enfield you can get your spanners out and make it your own Catch you later Pete
Ha,bugger,I had a similar experience 30 years ago,was riding my super cheap cb125.doing a 150km run mid winter in heavy rain, had been fishing and had the biggest snapper I have ever caught tied across the back of the bike, was about 3 ft long, any way after riding all day got to the beginning of my road, and the river was coming down the road as it had filled the paddocks where it normally overflows into.well I thought bugger this I need to get home and get this fish sorted.so carried on,yep got deeper and deeper till finally I thought hell no further,so started to turn around but the river was tearing up the road surface and it piled up on the wheels ,pushed me off…..I was wet through anyway so that wasn’t too much of a bother, dragged the bike back to the unflooded side, wouldn’t start,so pushed it back 6 km to the local gas station/ garage, they made some funny comments about the huge fish…flooded bike, pumped some compressor air through and it fired up first kick.they then with eyes on the fish offered me a bed at their house for the night.fish for tea and a lovely night……best regards for the new year from hot as mid summer nz.
Quite the adventure you've been having . It's a good job the VW driver was a snotty old posh cow . If it had been a gentleman of the limp wristed variety , you might have made his day jumping in his car naked . [ and you might have made a new friend ] . All's well that ends well , I suppose .
I reckon you will be able to live on that story for quite a while. Glad you're OK and the bike is still working. White van man is always a tosser where ever you live.
Great story, sorry to say but the enjoyment of biking is still there, nomatter what. Best news was nothing was really damaged, its only water, and if you expect other road user being 'sensible' there wouldn't be any wars.... Perfect Natter tale! Tks another petrol head.
I was pulling in to a flooded industrial park and abig flat faced Peterbilt speeded up and the bow 🌊 wave knocked me off the bike. I pushed the bike a Jeep asked if I was alright and I said l was going a shore. He started to laugh 😂. The bike started first kick. My Triumph Tr-6 with a hard tail and magneto.
Fk me its getting worse ...people and a "certain" kind of people, just dont think about others Soooo glad I dont live there ( it ( bad manners) is creeping in here where I live )
Morning Dave, I had a funny day as well. I was driving my white van down this little lane when ........... 🤣🤣
Noticed, you mentioned it in the comments an not face to face. 🤣🤣💪😎
Excellent comment!!!🤣🤣
Hahahaha😂🤣.

You're a good story teller. I can't believe I watched the whole thing. It was nice to listen to on a rainy morning.
That's what I call a bad day. Looking forward to the next instalment with the 650 Interceptor.
What a hassle! The biggest problem is always people. Sometimes I wish that I was as physically big as you are 👍👍.
The joys?.
I can mind back in 93,we got temperatures of -13.
I had a 70 mile round trip commute on a Honda VT500.
There were times I felt like letting go of the handlebars and just let an ambulance take me home.

"I'll take all my clothes off and get in your car. And she backed off". Not surprised 😂😂😂. These types of days are sent to try us sometimes. Glad you won in the end and this story will get funnier over the years as the edges wear off 😊
Morning Dave, it never rains, but when it bow waves 😊 what a good story to start the day 👍
Thanks A.R.😁
If I'm having a bad day I'll keep this video in mind and I'm sure my day won't seem so bad! - there's always an idiot or two who'll drive with zero consideration for a more vulnerable road user - very entertaining story!.
Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed! At least you and the bike are safe and back home... and hopefully dry!
Enjoyed that Dave. Reminded me of the time riding my new second hand 400. I was having such a good time, I ran out of petrol. Had to push it miles and nearly collapsed with the heat. The joys of motorcycling indeed 😂
Outstanding conversation with the van driver m8. Some people are just muppets. Bugger of a day for you. Love the cats 🐈
Me and the cats send our best!
I went out yesterday in floods on the trusty 500 classic and did the weekly shop, keep up the channel very enjoyable and happy new year.
"All's well that ends well" yes! Our black and white cat was throwing a fit right before I watched this video Lol !
Now that is a day! Thanks for sharing 👍 looking forward to seeing what becomes of the 650.
Sometimes terrible days make for great stories, glad to see you've come through it hale and hearty.
Keep up the good work 👍
Your probably right about the valve guide and the sudden cooling
Dave what can I say you just made my day what an absolute classic of a story that was I know you would have been raging at the time but what a story in the words of a song Things can only get better its the way you tell them just brilliant
If I Made someone smile, my day is made!

Very entertaining monologue and story of a day on a motorcycle in the winter in the UK.. nice one!!
From a biker in the highlands west coast of Scotland .
What a story, some people are just bloody ignorant! Glad the bike was okay.
Love the cats. So talkative!
Well, they don’t call you Volcanic Brown for nothing😤. Great video keep them coming 👍
Mr Brown, the only words that come to mind is the Naval Lark, Hope you and the bike (or should I say the ship) are all OK.
Very funny, excellent tale, glad you can laugh about it and your ok 😂
What a day! I suppose the only saving grace was that the RE engine wasn't wrecked! Its weird how misfortunes rarely seem to strike one at a time. After that experience, you would have been entitled to just go back to bed but you soldiered on, well done!

Blimey, what a day! Great the bike's running again. Sounds like you needed a snorkel.
😂Awesome!😂 Well done for keeping your cool, it’s strange to hear someone else suffer at the hands of cagers. I am inspired by your resolve and endurance 👏👍👌
Thankyou!
Priceless, what a great story...many thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
oh no, what a story! The cat liked it 👍 Looking forward to that Interceptor 💪
I'm on it. working, not riding!😁
Your narration of that story was excellent Dave l could picture everything perfectly, well done for not killing anybody 😂 Glad the bike was sorted quickly too, take care bud 🌊
You need to get the RE branded budgie smuggler, flip flops and goggles. 😂😂😂
Well Mister Brown your story has touched my heart. I've subscribed better days coming my friend.
@marshabradcoe417 Thankyou so much!😁
Aw mate I'm really sorry but listening to you tail of woe had me in stitches, 😂 tears running down my legs laughing.
Glad it ended well and you dried out.
Stay safe, Dave, (that bloke on a motorbike)🎉
@thatblokeonamotorbike Thanks Dave Delighted to have a comment from you! Thanks a ton! (The other Dave!)
What a great story. I'm probably about the same age as you and can work hard, but obviously not near as tough as you. Hope you don't catch pneumonia. Take care.
Yes, we are both 25!!!
That was a bad day!at least you got your bacon bap,the floods are really bad here in Wiltshire,so I know how you feel, good luck with the Interceptor
Another great video sir! Thanks for sharing!!! Ride safe
Thanks, you too!
Loved the story, the bikes, and the cats!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just discovered your channel, enjoying the banter and tales.
Yes would love to see bike repair work/restoration jobs and general bike related stuff.
Subscribed and followed 😊👍
Thanks, will do!
Life can be hard some days,
But we have to get to the other side,
I have a bike that sticks a valve after most winters,
I always carry WD40, Super stuff,
Plug out , A few squirts and it's Ok for the rest of the summer !.
Good Luck.
What a weekend, my elderly mother in law came home, and informed us that she almost had a stroke when approached by a naked 26 year old. I told her she would be alright as she was following her son in a van.
HaHahaha!!!!
Epic! Maybe not joy at the time, but a great take to tell. It is the tales of the unexpected that make the adventure of riding so special. So glad there was no real mechanical damage. Thank you for sharing! 🙏👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great story about how knowledge and persistence can “eventually“ overcome thoughtlessness and bad luck. 😉😎. Good on ya Dave.
Thanks for sharing and reminding us all how to handle a crisis.
worth checking the bullets oil is returning as a partial seizure of the exhaust rocker sounds like what may have caused loss of compression,
@b.titanillabiro2771 First thing I did when I got home, changed all the oils!
Happy new year mate . Take care and ride safe 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks, you too!
White Van Man… you’ll never pick up your teeth with two broken arms!
Volcanic, you can tell a story.
Jilling myself. No no no yes.
Sorry you had such a bad day but it’s made an interesting video. Look forward to seeing you strip the Interceptor.
I wasn't sure if I should "like" the video because I don't like what happened to you, but the story telling was fantastic! Great video.
@ratjaw75 Yeah, give it a like, I survived!
That was a bad day, never go anywhere without a phone or some cash, and carry the phone on you, not in a tank bag or top box,
also you could have rang the accountant when you got home getting the van? subbed.
Lessons learned that day! It is incredibly rare for me to go out without both! Thanks!
Glad your ok bud the adventure continues
Quite the tale... One might say that you were simply snake bit ... 🤣🤣🤣
I heard the kitty and I went to open the door, I thought it's my cat. :))))
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow! what a day you had Dave.
@suffolksliderRC It amazes me, how you can be riding along as happy as Larry, and then a few seconds later it can all turn sour! (Murphy's law!)
Pretty sad that you walked 7 miles home and no-one offered to help you out or give you a ride. I had a good chuckle about the "hold you under the water..." comment lol. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us as painful as it must have been. Thankfully sounds like it all worked out well in the end.
It just came into my head at the time!!
Congratulations on 1.5k subscribers
Thank you!

Hi VB,
It's Pete, just watched your video on your woes of motorcycling, it makes you think why do you do it! @deltabluesdavidraye Yes I think I subbed to your channel as you were/are running a Bullet if I remember rightly?!
You're a tough man. That's what we do. Overcome
@expatbiker6598 No not tough, just don't give in easily!
Quite the adventure you've been having . It's a good job the VW driver was a snotty old posh cow . If it had been a gentleman of the limp wristed variety , you might have made his day jumping in his car naked . [ and you might have made a new friend ] .
All's well that ends well , I suppose .
You need a sidecar and warm weather. I'm after a Tao Tao scooter and then de-hotrod it. That will make it safe and dependable.
I reckon you will be able to live on that story for quite a while. Glad you're OK and the bike is still working. White van man is always a tosser where ever you live.
i think me and you must be related dave…😂👍
Great story, sorry to say but the enjoyment of biking is still there, nomatter what. Best news was nothing was really damaged, its only water, and if you expect other road user being 'sensible' there wouldn't be any wars.... Perfect Natter tale! Tks another petrol head.
Hilarious!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The councils don't clean the drains and fill the potholes in because they've run out of money. As for selfish van drivers, parr for the course.
I know I shouldn't but I can't stop laughing. I guess it's because I'm mad enough to use 2 wheels all year also
I'd definitely be looking for another accountant.
Hope you don't get the Covid 🤞
Accountant is fine! the secretary is not!
A bad day but a great story
Bad days make great stories
Total joy. 😂
I would rather a 50 mile detour than ride or drive through floods.
New here. Subbed.
Thanks!
Perhaps surprisingly, I don’t know (?) this is now the most viewed video on this channel and has powered the total channel views beyond 100,000.
@stewy62 And I have no idea why that vid is so liked and viewed?!!!
You were lucky there Frank!
@@Volcanicbrown1878 I have had my Triumph Tr-6 with a hard tail and magneto for 40 years now.
That's a lifetime for some!
Fk me its getting worse ...people and a "certain" kind of people, just dont think about others Soooo glad I dont live there ( it ( bad manners) is creeping in here where I live )
People driving with tunnel vision .
Tough bloke!
