  • If your Kenmore gas stove burner is clicking, won't fire up, or ignite, there is an easy fix. When your gas burner won't ignite, it generally means a burner hole is obstructed. This is how to fix and clean it.

YES AFTER LOWES, HOME DEPOT I ACTUALLY GOT the right tool at Walmart for 8 bucks. The others instructed me to buy a drill after I gave two away not thinking I would need those anymore. I got all the burners working instead of none. Thanks to your video. May 23, 10:30 in the evening Praise the Lord for honest and caring folks like yourself. You are a masterpiece.

Thank you for this post! Two of my burners stopped working after I cleaned the area around them with a soft scrub solution. I did not have to remove the burners. After you pointed out where the small holes in the burner head were, I only needed to stick a pin into this hole from the opposite direction. This worked like a charm. I am VERY grateful. Thanks again! ⚘

Thanks for the video. Our burner would light, but the flame was small. I cleared the small hole in the nozzle and it burns high like it used to.

Saved the day. The hole didn’t seem plugged but the igniter was pretty covered in junk. Luckily still had a spark. Removed the screws, cleaned the igniter and the rest of the area and turned on first try. Thank you

So I have this same issue. Nine of the burners are working at all, however,I don't even smell gas and the gas has not been shut off. Any idea what the problem could be?

If they gas has not been shut off, there is some kind of blockage somewhere between the supply line outside and the inside stove. I am not an expert on handling gas lines. However, you could shut off the supply valve and check the gas supply line connecting to the stove to start.

Help, with your info, one weak burner cleared up with cleaning the hole you talk about ( Thanks! ). The one non working burner, (right front) on my Kenmore gas stove model 790, does not light up ( sparking and getting gas). This one burner does not have a subject hole, the other 3 do! I looked up the part online and found it, and it looks identical to mine and it also does not have a hole either. It will light up if I use a match but not if I use the knob - please advise

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your situation. I've not encountered it myself.

Thanks for the quick response. Turns out the little "gas nozzle" that brings the gas to the burner was partially clogged. Using a paper clip, I just poked into the hole a few times, put the "burner ring" and top cap back on, and it now it works! Originally it fooled me in that the igniter was clicking and I could smell gas, and it would light with a match ... so due to the partial block, the gas was not coming out strong enough to get lighted by the igniter... now we know the even a partial clog will cause it not to light by the igniter lol! Thanks for getting me on the right track.

Thanks.. being a hero clean the stove using baking soda and vinegar. Ended up 1/5 not firing. There goes the hero part. Somehow mixture clogged up the tiny hole. I thought the gas would go over the igniter and not through that tiny needle opening. After watching your video, clear the hole opening and now we are good as new. Thanks a million.

Worked like a charm. The hole was so clogged I couldn’t even see it until I washed the area where it was supposed to be. Presentation succinct and to the point. Thanks
