How absolutely fascinating. He apparently hasn't forgotten a single thing that's happened to him his entire life. Just a brilliant musician. Great interview!
Great guy. I told him a story, when I was in Afghanistan, scrolled on a washroom wall it said "no sugar tonight in my coffee , no sugar tonight in my tea" in the middle of nowhere!
Cool! I'm gonna claim some responsibility for getting that song to number one in South Africa! We played it to death... well, almost! Many a party... even the odd beach frolic... all to the BTO soundtrack!! 😂👍
When this song first hit the airwaves, I didn’t like it. When I heard it yesterday on classic rock radio for the billionth time I still didn’t like it. NOW I LIKE IT!!! (Always loved loved loved Taking Care of Business fwtw). Thanks for the great interview guys!
Grew up listening to that song, In Detroit....... Great way for my Sunday afternoon to start down..... By the by, loved the Guess Who. Thank you Gentlemen
What a treasure Canada has! I love that song. It's woven into my soul. I was a little concerned when he sang it to Mark but when he sang it to the crowd it was great. Some songs have to be shouted which can feel awkward when it's just two people.
Am I the only one laughing?.. Mark: "How did you come up with that line" Randy: "I could sing it any way I wanted because no one was going to hear it"....it was a spoof for his stuttering Brother...ends up number one hit in 22 countries...great interview
Randy Bachman laughed his way to the bank with his music. A lot of musicians I know shook our heads when we heard the song, and marveled how THAT song could be so successful.
Excellent Interview, brings back memories.. The Genesis of "You Ain't Seen Noth'in Yet" name dropping (Neil Young) and his other Contemporaries of the Day. I still have an Ironhorse LP in my collection, someplace.
Love Randy’s CBC Vinyl Tap. He is a lively and interesting speaker; the stories and depth of information he shares are so engaging. (I remember my dad seeing a CNE marquee announcing “The Guess Who”; he told us there was a surprise show that night.)
We caught BTO in the 70s, 7th row center and at the end of the final encore, Randy threw his guitar into the audience and my date caught it! One of my favorite concerts of all time.
Great vid Mark... Saw Randy in a Gibson video (spliced several musicians into a marketing piece playing a short bit with a Gibson product) and he was playing into a Tweed Epiphone EP-SC210 amp... now I can't find it anywhere. It's from the early 90s and I have one in 'as new' condition (really) I'm selling... a pic of him using it would be perfect for the ad... great story about the song btw... (I hear they did the same thing with American Woman... messing around at a soundcheck)! Randy is such a great and humble guy... talking about the old days and doesn't mention the first big year the Guess Who had they actually sold more records than a fairly big group from the UK... yes they outsold the Beatles that year!
I'd love for someone to make a theme song for Mark Steyn...the Police "Dont Stand so close to me" But it would go "Mark Steyn, Mark Steyn, Mark Steyn so close to me"
Well, I listen to classic rock (John Boy and Billy and 99.7) here in Charlotte, NC and they frequently have this song in the play list. If you don’t know of John Boy and Billy, you should check them out...they are hilarious and also conservative(apparently).
Thanks for putting this together Mark......great guest.....Randy Bachman is a legend.
How absolutely fascinating. He apparently hasn't forgotten a single thing that's happened to him his entire life. Just a brilliant musician. Great interview!

It would have soooo cool to hear Stevie Ray cover TCB!!! RIP SRV!!

GREAT interview Mark. BTO was one of my favorite bands growing up!!✌🇺🇸
Great guy. I told him a story, when I was in Afghanistan, scrolled on a washroom wall it said "no sugar tonight in my coffee , no sugar tonight in my tea" in the middle of nowhere!
This is great fun! :) Light and Airy! Nice to get to know how much you know about music. :) Thanks Mark.
A band and a song that are among my best memories. Thanks Mark, great interview!!
Cool! I'm gonna claim some responsibility for getting that song to number one in South Africa! We played it to death... well, almost! Many a party... even the odd beach frolic... all to the BTO soundtrack!! 😂👍

Like Randy said the 70's and 80's were about Taking Care Of Business and mashing everything together to create something new. A new standard.

Loved it!
What a treasure Canada has! I love that song. It's woven into my soul. I was a little concerned when he sang it to Mark but when he sang it to the crowd it was great. Some songs have to be shouted which can feel awkward when it's just two people.
Excellent episode. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Am I the only one laughing?..
Mark: "How did you come up with that line"

I grew up in 70’s BTO brings back fun memories, partying to their hits, among the other musical greats of that era. Thanks Mark, for the memories.
Gaelic K Pantohan where did the time go and how we are where we are today . Shame , vulgar ,dumb and more vulgar.
An Icon.Phenomenal entertainer.
Randy Bachman laughed his way to the bank with his music. A lot of musicians I know shook our heads when we heard the song, and marveled how THAT song could be so successful.
That was g-g-g-great!
Something about the stutter is very charming. Like a guy so at the end of his rope he's tongue tied. Love it.
Love it... lol
Fantastic! Loved that song, it’s great to hear how it came about all these decades later.
l love BTO Mr. Randy Bachman!!! 👏...and The Guess Who !!👏👏
Thanks, a joy!
What an active mind, a song a day!
Great show
Excellent Interview, brings back memories.. The Genesis of "You Ain't Seen Noth'in Yet" name dropping (Neil Young) and his other Contemporaries of the Day. I still have an Ironhorse LP in my collection, someplace.
OUTSTANDING - wonderful to hear the backstory of the artistic process - Randy is a true music treasure
Love Randy’s CBC Vinyl Tap. He is a lively and interesting speaker; the stories and depth of information he shares are so engaging. (I remember my dad seeing a CNE marquee announcing “The Guess Who”; he told us there was a surprise show that night.)
Thanks, Mark and Randy. Baaaaaaby
This song, & "Taking Care of Business" were music staples for my friends and I back in the day; fascinating anecdote! Glad Randy is still kickin' !
Great show Mark. Now you need Geddy Lee.
We caught BTO in the 70s, 7th row center and at the end of the final encore, Randy threw his guitar into the audience and my date caught it! One of my favorite concerts of all time.
Wow what a treasure of an interview
Love BTO! over 60 yrs old and still listening to it today! Kkkk Katie??? Havnt heard that song for almost 50 years!!
Taking Care of Business - my all time Favorite BTO song. I sing it in the morning getting ready for work while dancing around the bedroom

that was so funny glad you shared it on Rush's show today.
Oh, and of course Randy B.
Great interview, I expected no less from my favorite"sinister foreign HOST". Mr. Bachman seems like an easy fellow to speak to.
Thank you gentlemen.
MORE COW BELL!!!
1959 Cy Coleman song seems to be the first appearance of " You ain't seen nothing yet "
I'd love for someone to make a theme song for Mark Steyn...the Police "Dont Stand so close to me"
But it would go "Mark Steyn, Mark Steyn, Mark Steyn so close to me"
Uh oh, Randy's gonna lose his CBC radio show now.
Ja,
The CBC needs 30 minutes of the Navy jig.....
13:30 "... and all the guys with the fiddles." ;-)
Meow Honey Bunny!
Randy Bachman as in Bachman Turner Overdrive? Am I showing my age or my ignorance?
Yes BTO, we are old! 😂👍
BTO.
Well, I listen to classic rock (John Boy and Billy and 99.7) here in Charlotte, NC and they frequently have this song in the play list. If you don’t know of John Boy and Billy, you should check them out...they are hilarious and also conservative(apparently).
So how is Randy's brother now?
Why aren't 'The Guess Who' and 'Bachman-Turner Overdrive' in the R&RHOF?
Of course "You ain't seen nothing yet" was a common phrase before the song came out.
I had a garage band and this was a standard
Not paying the union 30 grand....priceless
Takin’ Care of BitNess!🤣
Talkin' 'bout my g-g-g-generation.
more cowbell!!!!!
didnt clinton use this song for his '96 campaign?
You didn't mention Frank Sinatra ' s ' The best is yet to come ' . Big omission.
i swear the guy playing the tele looks like lindsay buckingham
on a bad hair day
No stuttering on the hit parade between KKKKaty and BTO? Yes there was. What about My Generation by the Who? True, they weren't Canadian though.
Matthew Screech They mentioned The Who and David Bowie as well, and others.
BTO ? Not 'Arf Mate !
President Trump uses intro to.....Rolling Stones....."you can't always get what you want.:
At the end of HIS rallys.
Wwww one downvote?
Two thumbs down. Burton Cummings and Randy's Brother.
Good to see the lead guitar is still out of tune.
Bachman's story is frustrating because he never actually sings the key line BBBBBBBBaby etc.
Great song.....b b b baby
