I read the comments at the end of the video from Mr. Bachman regarding the funding for their performance being paid for by the Federal Government. My Name is Fred Chester and I was the government official that managed this event. The inmates of Saskatchewan Penitentiary did pay for the performances of BTO and DOA from their personal funds and Much Music as corporate sponsor for The Big Ticket Special. The Jailhouse Rock event (Saskatchewan Battle of The Bands) was a promotional event for up and coming bands in Saskatchewan and was funded through corporate sponsorship. Saskatchewan Penitentiary did provide the stage and lights. I apologize to Mr. Bachman for any misunderstanding or negative feed back he may have received...but he was paid by the inmates. In closing the positive impact that their group had left inmate population made working in the Maximum Security Prison much less tense for many months to follow.
Hi Fred. You know, the very fact that they took the time to play in the prison speaks volumes to me about who Bachman Turner Overdrive is as a group and individual people. Totally big name, kick ass rock and roll in a very modest setting. Prison ministry work is its own reward. Every minute spent in connecting with inmates will give you many multiples of grace in return. Job well done, my friend. In what year did this prison concert take place?
@@randymudge7435 This was the last annual event of three....the previous year was Long Jonh Baldry and Katherine MacDonald....who also did a charity benefit in the park for disabled children sponsored by the inmates of Sask Pen and the local 99FM radio station, Coke a Cola, and Gordie Brandts Music in Prince Albert Sask.

Randy Bachman, being with the Guess Who, and forming this hard rocking band with the thunderous vocals and bass of CF Turner, man, I miss those days!
I got to introduce them when they were the first band to play on the bowling alley. Randy said just say BTO when you introduce the band. Incredible night. Only band Not to have alcohol in their dressing room
