What about Ian Stewart's 45:13 in 1977 (Michelin 10)? The course was remeasured and found to be accurate.

While this was an excellent run, especially considering Emile had to do the last 10k on his own, I feel that it ought to be mentioned that Sir Mo did faster splits several times during half marathons although he was never officially timed faster than 46:25. Still, a sub-60 half marathon is a real possibility.

Can’t believe he dropped everyone inside 6k… just shows how rapid he is. Can’t wait for his marathon debut at London.

45:57? Oops, this is 10 miles not 10K. However this would beat a lot of 10k times (lol).

Good of the commentator to do some good research and mention Ian Stewart, the 1970 Commonwealth Games 5,000m champion and Olympic bronze medalist in 1972, whom, in 1977 ran the Michelin 10 miles Road Race in 45:13. The commentator said Stewart's 10 miles time was illegal. It wasn't illegal, but it wasn't considered as a legitimate world record because the course distance wasn't ratified, even though it was measured twice. Stewart was certainly robbed. I have just looked on the World Athletics Stats Zone and, in fact, there are no records of any 10 mile road races in the top 50 performances showing up before even 1995. I covered Stewart's 10 miles road race record in my documentary on him, here: th-cam.com/video/dLy4UEXPnTA/w-d-xo.html

OMG, look at the pacers feet when landing. Especially his right one ( The pacer in the middle)
And the left leg of the pacer to the far left. Looks pretty akward.
