    Angus this was fantastic!! Emile is such a likable and humble guy. I wish the best for him. Canova is so correct about training the mind. The work is the work, no secrets anymore

    Thank you guys for the excellent video as always. I have few questions for the legendary Canova.
    1. In a recent news on Italian newspaper after Kiptums sad death, he said he wasn't training in a modern scientific way. Considering his capability to maintain high volume workout, what would he changed of his training in order to make him better athlete and what( and if) he would change of Canova training routine suitable for him? What would be his best time on marathon once reached his best potential?
    2. The method used for marathon is basically, beside high intensity on Tuesday and Thursday, long distance training at 105% of MTN pace. Is that suitable for amateurs or just elite athletes? I know he has promoted the method of something similar for amateurs such intervals of 500high intensity and 500rest at valuable fast recovery run and so on for a cicle increasing 100m of high intensity and decreasing of 100 m rest. Is that related?
    3. If he would move the elite athletes training for amateur what would be the change during the week considering the average volume of 140 km per week and if he is still agreeing for a mini cicle rest every two or three weeks tapering?

    The more and more I learn as an amateur runner, the more i realize how sublimely important volume is.

      Thanks for the feedback. Honestly, we're trying this format because we feel it ads a little more value to the video to have some commentary over the running. It allows Matt to weigh in on the session and provide some valuable information while keeping the videos around the 20min mark. We've tried to keep the running sounds in there still and haven't put music over it

      @@angusteeton6918 personally i can't finish this because of the over production. the best thing about the old style was the simplicity - this is too much matt for me. good luck though

    Question for Coach Canova- In most of your training programs, there is a blend of variable stimuli throughout a periodized season tailored to the athlete. When working with someone who has hit a performance plateau, do you ever try to isolate a particular stress for a few weeks to help them achieve faster times? More generally, how do you help runners overcome particularly stubborn plateaus from the 5K-Marathon? Thank you!

    What's the time of the year when athletes should work on the top end? Does Canova believes in the block periodization?

    • @markeroon
      @markeroon 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He uses fundamental, special and specific phases. Top end is incorporated via 6-10s hill sprints in the fundamental phase, as is the long run at approx 70% of race pace

    Hey sweat elite i apreciete very much what you do, I am subscribed for 2 years trust me, but please, i beg you , put also not marathon videos. I mean otside of the japan videos there is basicly no more mid distance stuff at all in last year or two. Please start again filming also some 1500 or 5km guys. It dosen't need necesarly to be someone super famous people, but there are tons of people last year who gone under 3:30 or 31 so i thinck you could pull out something cool. Or those diamond league races where there was 13 people gone unde13 mins per 5k. Mid distance is in a great spot righ now, not just the marathon, so it would be really nice if you could givie it a go once again.
    P.S i realized this is not a marathon video. Its definetly a progress but what i sad, i thinck is still valid.

      You might be going to fast for the long reps slow it down if you don’t want your legs feel tight. For example mile repeats should be 45 to a minute slower then your fastest mile if pr. If not aerobically developed a little more then.
