“Unfortunately Miss America 1993 Leanza Cornett just Passed She suffered head trauma when she fell inside her home 😔 So Sad when Regis had passed the middle part of this year Leanza was only 49 years old so young RIP Leanza June 10th, 1971- October 28th, 2020🙏🏽🕊
Leanza needs our prayers right now. She is currently in critical condition after slipping in her kitchen and hitting her head October 12, 2020. Ten days later she is still in critical condition, in ICU, unresponsive. She had surgery several days ago to stop the brain bleed. (I'm not a spokesperson for the family...just a prayerful friend from years and years ago. But I just had to share this with anyone who might view this video.)
“ Well Unfortunately the news broke and God has called her home “October 28th 2020 Leanza Cornett will always be remembered as a beautiful soul who touch many. She is the reputation of what humility stands for we’re all praying for her family and her 2 Sons As well may she Rest In Gods Eternity Peace 1971-2020 🕊🕊🕊
Leanza, you're wonderful and such a role model! I competed at the state level in MAO recently and I just found out that I had the same talent song as you, "A New Life". Your performance with the song was flawless, I'm going to be re-watching and re-watching it to learn as much as I can from you! :)
I love the fact that Leanza is actually replying to the comments! I remember that night she won! I was jumping up and down and I didn't even know her! But she was my hometown girl!!! The first Miss Florida to ever win the title... And very much deserved!
Thank you! It was one of the most important nights of my life and one that certainly changed the course of my life! And this week, I will welcome a new Sister who will share the same experience. I feel very blessed!
@@LeanzaCornett i remember it like it was yesterday, and have always wanted to tell you how impressed i was with your performance specifically on finals night. even though kathy was heavily-favored to win (double prelim winner), i believe it was specifically because of the 'whole package' message you were delivering regarding compassion for AIDS patients at a time when no one wanted to talk about it. i remember hearing you sing 'a new life' - the first time i'd ever heard it - and how perfectly it melded your message of compassion with a plea from the patients' perspective. they wanted a new life and here you were singing their message to us. that's what, i believe, won you the title! and what a wonderful job you've done ever since! thank you, leanza!!
I was one of her hosts in Chicago. Such an intelligent, mature, gracious, savvy person. Gave wonderful speeches, was particularly good with children, always energetic and ready to go, a very practical person on top of all that. Not a phony bone in her body and we all knew she would continue on to even more success.
Leanza captured the crown without winning any preliminary nights {i.e. swimsuit, talent, or evening gown}! That's pretty amazing considering most winners win at least one or more prelims before the final nite of competition! The judges must've seen a drive in her on that final night that couldn't be denied nor could her appeal which she used to full advantage!
And Iowa had won 2 preliminaries. I was there all week. I had Florida as my dark horse. I to this day think Leanza won because AIDS activism was in vogue then, and that was her issue.
A friend of mine and I met Leanza in Dallas at Foley's Valley View and we were so impatient we ended up marching up and bugging her while she was shopping in the hosiery department. Before her appearance! Very nicely, her chaperone told us we needed to hold our horses and then we could get her autograph and take all the pictures we wanted. Remember that, Larkin?
I wish Miss America contains 50 states only except Puerto Rico, and District of Columbia, without Bikinis, only is Catalina one piece swimsuit will be move back to NBC.
It moved back to Atlantic City. I wish Miss America was the 50 states and District of Columbia only; lest you forget, the first Miss America, Margaret Gorman (1921) originated from Washington, DC.

Leanza's talent performance used to be on TH-cam but now it's gone. It was high quality. If anyone has it please post it.

@@LeanzaCornett your at peace now
Her performance of “A New Life” that night mesmerized me & thus began my obsession with musical Jekyll and Hyde.
It was one of the best pageant performances in Miss America History.
A stupendous performance. It had me mesmerized
RIP Leanza!

RIP 😔.
She was adorable
One of the better put together pageants. I enjoyed the numbers.
Yay for my home state of Florida. So far we have two wins, it's time for another Miss America from Florida.
Actually, between Leanza Cornett and Erica Harold, Florida arguably the two most attractive and talented Miss Americas in the past 25 years.
Oh yeah!
@@renegaderunner332 I think you meant Dunlap. Erika Harold was Miss Illinois before becoming Miss America.
Thanks for the correction.

Isn't she the same one from Entertainment Tonight?
