best line of the entire video ever!! My favorite makeup tutorials for hooded eyes are from Korean youtubers. They really do know how to honor that hood whilst keeping the makeup fun

I LOVE This! You are a brilliant young girl! This is THE BEST video I have seen for hooded eyes - and I have been watching a lot! I almost didn't watch it, because I thought "another young girl who will be selling some concealer...". (I am 55 and my hooded eyes have come with getting older). 1. I LOVE your opening comments and attitude! I did not even realize younger women had hooded eyes, they seen to be attributed to aging a lot. But why are they talked about as a negative? It is just an eye shape, and apparently one that a lot of people share! 2. I LOVE how you are 'experimenting' and showing us how and why you do things.... not just repeating some "rules". 3. From my playing around I agree with what you are saying, which is different than I hear in other places..... I keep hearing don''t put the line of shadow under the eye. I think this is actually a good look on me, so I agree with your experiment there!. One thing every shadow tutorial seems to say is put a light color or highlighter on the brow bone. To me, this seems like it would accentuate the hood,.. I like just the shadow to the mid.. and don't be afraid of some darkness there! I personally do not like the white/nude pencil on my eyes, doesn't help me :P You obviously know your art! Fabulous that you described what one wants in a brush, not just say "X brand # 25". INow I can go and find what I need (I go to the art supply store -great quality brushes). Thank you, and I may even watch more videos! Most importantly though - your attitude! And I am glad to see it shared with girls and young women! Make up should be about enhancing beauty.. not 'changing' one's face, or trying to look like a celebrity. There are many different kinds and shapes of faces, and they are all beautiful. I went on a bit, but I am so grateful for your video and wanted to share my thoughts! Your eyes look beautiful!
You're one of the best makeup artist I have found. I love how you have such a straight forward view on makeup and don't see it as trying to fix your face, but just to enhance your face. I love your view on hooded eyes. I have learned so much from your videos.I recommend you to everyone. I love how you don't try to push products on people and how you keep your Chanel on makeup and not how many discount codes you offer for sigma, etc. Lol.

You accentuated natural beauty and gave me confidence about my hooded eyes. All my life I was using the wrong techniques, because of beauty standards, butnyou showed me it's not needed. Thank you so much.
Aly you are a genius. Your in-depth analyses and explanations behind your techniques really sets this tutorial apart from all the others on this site. This goes for all your videos by the way! After watching your videos on face shapes, or eye shapes I find myself studying people's faces as I walk down a street, or thru the mall, lol, but mostly I find myself not hating my flaws as much, as they too can be beautiful, it's all in how we look at things! I like the comment you said, "Quit disrespecting your eye shape"!
I love the positivity, acceptance, and love you have for hooded eyes! It's so refreshing cs they always seem to be a problem to be fixed. I'm starting to love the way my eyes look when I wake up. I have the shape you referred to where the hood falls further and covers the outer space.

This is not only for hooded eyes, but also great tips for shadowing Asian eyes with double eyelids :D Asian eyes usually have narrower space between the crease and eyeliner (in the cases where creases exist), this is definitely the ultimate video for how to deepen the crease. (I hardly see this type of advice for deepening a crease or dramatizing a narrow double eyelid since a lot of beauty bloggers just stereotype all Asian eyes as monolids and that's seriously annoying...)

So glad I found this video! I have hooded eyes and definitely struggle with eye makeup. I also tend to think in terms of math; numbers, angles, proportions, etc. So having it finally broken down in those terms has been such a huge help! Thank you so much!

Which means when you explain things, it's so helpful because you know what you're talking about! Also your hair looks STUNNING here, you look gorgeous girl!
Thank you! Best explanation for hooded lids I've seen yet. I love how you emphasize the love "your perfect imperfections" as well. Not to mention that "wow I can see your mobile lid" was hilarious!! 😂 I love you!
Another awesome video! This is hands down the best makeup channel I've ever seen on youtube. You are a wonderful makeup artist, but more importantly, you're a good teacher. Your professionalism, all the thought that you put into each video, the love and respect you have for beauty in its infinite variety of forms... girl, you're the best! I love learning from you so much, I've watched each and every one of your videos, even the ones that don't apply to my face shape or style. Keep up the good work and I can't wait for the smokey eye tutorial!
I watched many tutorials, even from make up artists and I think your approach and the way you explain is the most technical and detailed...You´re THE BEST!
I watch A LOT of youtube videos in search of new tricks to help me with my make-up, and i have to say - your entire channel is the only one that helps soooo much! there's a lot of good make-up channels out there, but your explanations and examples are, honestly, the best. and you're honest and genuine, and that became a rarity on youtube. i always keep going back to your channel and re-watch videos :) keep on making awesome stuff! :D
Great job! Aly, my eyes are hooded and crepey. As you demonstrated, I have to blend out my transition/crease color outward and upward toward the tail of my eyebrow. If I keep the shadow totally domed, then the fleshy part of my hood can look too heavy. So I use a dark shade in my outer V, pulling the shadow up toward the brow, like an eyeliner, and blend it out over the hood. And I've learned to use a light hand for my looks, unless I was headed to a dimly lit club, of course! If my colors are too dark, then I'm closing in my eye shape. I do enjoy putting colors and sparkles on my mobile lid, but know that mattes are my friends for center stage. I keep my eyeliner low and tight because of the limited lid space. And add flick for a wing. I have to get my paws on a light/white pencil for add an easy highlight under my brow arch. Looking forward to your next video in this hooded eyes series!
This is one of the best hooded eye videos I've seen. Your explanations and examples go really in depth. I use a fair amount of these tricks but some I didn't know or you taught me a little more about. I'll have to play around with it more!
You are beyond smart and amazing! You are like a makeup professor :)...You first understand your topic completely before explaining it perfectly! Thank you for these videos xx
Hands down you are the best MUA on youtube. Your makeup videos are about enhancing/concealing for the best result, not "one-size-fits-all" like everybody else out there.
Thank you so much for focusing on how our differences and features and why those differences make us beautiful. I also like that your videos are purely technical and don't make judgements about what is beautiful.
Thank you so much for the video. My eyes have always been a bit hooded, but as I have aged they have gotten worse. I so appreciate your viewpoint on lifting the eye look instead of focusing on the lid itself.

I just discovered your channel and I think you are AMAZING!! I could listen to you talk all day, and you are very talented and articulate. Keep those hooded eye tips and tutorials coming!! :-)
thank you, thank you, thank you SO MUCH! I am a theatre actress and have to do my own make up, and i never really knew what to do with my hodded, but very large and round eyes, but you showed me some things I really didn't know and I'm looking forward to trying them out! Thank you for your informative, funny, very sympathetic videos!
Wow, so much awesome and useful information packed into one video....I think there is a lot here that would be helpful even for people without hooded eyes! Also, I’ve never heard it called a “mobile lid” before but it makes total sense and makes it a lot easier to understand which part of the eyelid she was talking about rather than just “upper” or “lower” - sometimes I get confused and don’t know if they mean beneath the eye or what. Calling it “mobile lid”is perfectly clear.
I love your videos and your channel .. You have a unique way in selecting topics and presenting them in a very professional way. It makes me hate watch other youtubers who are repeating themselves ..
I love this series! I've become to like my hooded eyes over the years. I had a friend who told me that he and his brother though that my eyes were like Chinese eyes and they loved that! never thought of it that way, I think it is the combination of hooded +almond shape eyes that made them think that. Anyhow the conclusion is that what we think as a flaw others might see it beautiful. only issue with hooded eyes is that it makes it tricky to apply makeup and I that you could be spending half an hour doing a beautiful eyeshadow look ,that barely shows! but even that can be fun ,if you make a wow factor, like a crazy color that only shows when you look down or blink. it's all about the way we perceive things, just as you say! 😊
I love you. I love your tutorials. Thank you for explaining things the way that you do. And thank you for reminding women that they are beautiful as they are.
Thank you Aly for pointing out that hooded eyes can be beautiful! Lauren Bacall, Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Kate Moss, and Asian eyes too...I love their eyes. Aly you are the only one that really embraces all forms of beauty and we love you for it! You are so empowering!
What a wonderful opening of the video. I've been displeased with my hooded eyes for years, now even more so as I age. thank you for this video, Aly. xxx
Would you please sit a little bit closer to the camera. Your information and also instructions are amazing and it would be very helpful to see all your magical technics a little bit closer :)
Thank you Aly for posting these hooded eye videos. I love you view about finding beauty in the whole picture as opposed to trying to hide what we may think is a terrible flaw in our natural appearance. I love this! Keep up the great work.
Best you tuber these days all the other you tuber are doing nothing but sponsor vids. So tired of them and unsubscribed all of them. So thank you for teaching us instead of selling us makeup.
The information in your videos is so in-depth and very useful knowledge. And it shows how observant you are, Its not just that you have the knowledge, but you know how to make use of what you know. Thank you so much for sharing with us in a more scientific way as it's much more interesting than the content others are creating. Yours is truly a unique channel, very happy to have found it!
Smokey eye look for hooded eyes YES! :) Can't wait! I love that you make videos for different eye shapes and faces in general. Because people are so different. After watching many of your videos I finally understand why I could never make any of the looks common "beautygurus" do on them selves work for me. I have hooded eyes they look very similar to the eyes Kate Moss has. I wish I had her amazing face too :)
I just finished watching your other video about hooded eyes but couldn't comment on it. I just wanted to say thank you for making me feel beautiful with hooded eyes and not like something I have to disguise or hide.
The way you go about doing your makeup is so different; it's so detailed and it always looks amazing. I have hooded eyes and I know some of the tricks, but I learned so much more from watching your video's...Thank you!!! Now, where to go with my face all done up? Hmmmm???
I've just discovered your contouring series, and your videos about hooded eyes. I love how precise your advices are. And I love the way you make everyone feels beautiful, with their own personal features and shapes ! Thank you for that ! I personnaly have very hooded eyes, particularly on the outside corner of my eyes, so I really have hard times with wing eyeliner, wich I like sometimes. You have a new subscriber ! Thank you !
I absolutely loved this tutorial. You are unbelievable- I love your approach to make up and your deliverance, you add reason and method to everything you cover. You're absolutely fantastic. :) Keep doing what youre doing!
thanks for your video about the beauty of hooded eyes.... thanks for showing all those beautiful women with hooded eyes, i have been hating on my eyes lately as I'm getting older but your video made me feel so much better.
Omg your channel is so underrated you deserve much more intention because you're helping us to love ourselves and respect who we're before trying to look. 😍😍😍😘
I love your videos so much. They are so informative and straight to the point, every second of the video is valuable and teach me so much about how to use makeup EFFECTIVELY. hope you never stop making videos!!!
Honestly, I could listen to you talk all day! It made me laugh when you said "Wow! I can see your mobile lid, wow!" But you're right, that tiny little bit of skin is not what makes us beautiful nor is it solely responsible for a great eye makeup look. So thank you for making me realise that! My ever drooping hood does bother me though, it looks fine until I smile, then everything goes south- literally! It just keeps getting worse with age, so as many tips as you can provide will be much appreciated! I do love your perspective on beauty & makeup though, it's very refreshing!

Sure - I totally agree! ))) Only the mind issue ))) The whole beauty is mind issue ))) I'm happy to read that you love your eyes ))) !!!!! Love x x

Best you tuber these days all the other you tuber are doing nothing but sponsor vids. So tired of them and unsubscribed all of them. So thank you for teaching us instead of selling us makeup.

Yes right - so different!!! ))) Love x x x

I love your make up tutorials!! Your one of the few beauty TH-camrs who don’t try to look like a friggin Kardashian!!
The best tutorial on hooded eyes I have seen so far ..thanks
Aly, this is the first of your videos I have seen. I am really impressed with your knowledge. You explained the techniques so well. Thanks!
I do love your perspective on beauty & makeup though, it's very refreshing!
have you tried face exercises? faceaerobics on TH-cam is amazing! I've seen a lot of improvement with my hooded eyes
You're awesome! Thank you for always sharing your tricks with us! You put a smile on my face everytime!
Thank you so much!!
