Dante said God left us 3 things from Paradise: stars, flowers, and children; I think Messiaen would add birds. His music reminds me of Dante’s ‘Comedy’ with its focus on the stars and Christianity. Thanks for the wonderful performance!
Thanks for the comment! And yes... definitely birds 😆 ❤️
This really is a remarkable piece. Messiaen (for me) captures a sense of the cosmos. Beautifully played and conducted here.
I would rather have the feeling that Messiaen is faking Messiaen

Quelle belle aventure et inscrite au coeur que ces éclairs, ici magistralement interpretes ❤️
Merciiiiiiiiiiiii💕
Stay in the warmth of Love is so deeply moving.
I was at the premiere of "Canyons to the Stars " in Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center and am fully flabbergasted from the harmonies and colors of Monsieur Messiiaen.
La dernière section est fabuleuse, car on a vraiment l'impression d'apercevoir Dieu / The last section is quite amazing, because it really feels like catching a glimpse of God.
A sublime experience.
🥰
Einfach ein traumhaftes & bemerkenswertes Werk. Danke!
When I first heard this in a concert in Hamburg in the late 1990s--with a different orchestra but the same conductor--I thought: This is the Turangalîla 2.0 of an old man. I love the slow movements, which in the earlier work are sometimes over-sugary and kitschy, but I miss the vigor of the earlier work's fast movements.
Hi @albrechtgaub2882! You seem to have a deep connection to this music. We're glad you like it! 😄
a beautiful performance of a great masterpiece.
I couldn't agree more.
That last chord, is it Messiaen saying good bye to us, and hello to the afterlife? I just love the two string movements in this piece, they feel truly mystical.
So empfinde ich das ebenfalls
39:16 that subcontra flute opening..
It's a contrabassclarinet but its cool, yeah
I just don't get Messiaen. This, to me, is rubbish. Yet I know he means a lot to a lot of people, so I will take it on the chin as my shortcoming.
