The Taito arcade Superman game is above this one, especially with that sweet Zuntata rendition of the Superman theme. Otherwise, like Spiderman, old Supes was out of luck when it came to good games.

Do anyone remember there was a code that you entered on the title screen. It allowed you to skip levels-you can skip the entire game to the ending. When entered correctly the music on the title screen changed to a hidden track that wasn’t used in any of the levels.
Saw a Crue Ball playthrough before seeing this one, and boy oh boy you can tell which game had the better soundtrack. Hint: It's a Man of Steel. While Crue Ball sounds like razor blades tearing at your ear drums, this sounds far smoother, and a proper use of the Genesis soundchip, helps a Japanese developer using custom sound drivers were behind this one.
Usually Sunsoft's music is kinda weak on Sega Genesis but this one is surprisingly not bad. Like they're actually taking advantage with the soundchip for once.

For me, without the classic and iconic John Williams Superman theme, it's missing something, that special magic. And, with that theme and the variations of it for different levels and moods, etc, it would take it to another level as I see [hear] it. So that's that.

The game I enjoyed playing because of its OST. Composer was very talented guy.
I beat it on the hardest difficulty and the ending showed Superman flying through space as the credits rolled
