So because his opponents have become so computer-focused, he takes them on a crazy human ride to shake off every computerbased countermove that they have planed or thought off. In my mind, that ability is what makes humans more intelligent than computers.
Not quite. Every top player is still very "human." They know how to evaluate human positions vs. computer positions, and they know what a "human move" vs a "computer move" looks like. It just happens that Magnus is better at it.
I was hoping this podcast would be more about Magnus than about Chess, he is very interesting character we know little about. And most of Chess fans would like to know him better as a person, we know he is chess genius already.
He's done plenty of interviews you can find on youtube where he talks about himself but Chess is his life, it would be like wanting Freddie Mercury to talk about something other than music...
magnus is great at soundbites, but when lex asks "Is evaluation at every step the key to winning?", Magnus responds "To some extent", but doesn't reveal what the secret is. That is part of the "loneliness" at being at the top. You cannot reveal your secrets.
I remember keeping up with the game with one of my buddies. We would text eachother how it was crazy that it was still going on ever so often lol. Crazy long game and part of the legend that is Magnus!
Chess Masters have come to terms with the fact that they can't compete with computers, but that hasn't diminished the thrill of being the Human World Champion. Many more fields will need to make this adjustment in coming years

Just so people know, it’s not the longest chess game ever, but it is the longest game ever in a world championship match
How long was it?
I think it was the longest game ever in terms on the length of the game not the number of moves.

In case anyone is wondering the game was 8 hours, 15 minutes and 40 seconds

This isn't even the longest game ever, I started a game with my dad who went out to get cigs. We still waiting to finish it 20 years later.
He finally found a place with cigs in stock then on his way home remembered he forgot the milk!
Carsen reveals layers of chess i’ve never heard talked about before.
Thanks to the 33 comments letting everyone know about the length of the game lol.

It was the longest world championship game ever not all time . In recent years, harikrishna -howell game was 236 moves . Double this
