My lined pencil skirt turned out GREAT! And now I know how to create the lining for the vent! Best tutorial out there!
Eva Hi, I am curious how you finished the bottom hem on your skirt. And also, did you attach your lining to the top of the outer skirt before attaching it to the vent? I guess so, but am not sure. Thank you for the help!
Brilliant! You are a great teacher. I've been looking for an easy explanation to how this is done and I am now confident to try it myself. Thanks so much. More videos, please!

Really good explanation, I would love to hear fewer than three repeats of the technique at the same time, then the recap at the end so that I don't forget the information. Thank you for making this job easy.
This is the most helpfull video ever on this subject! Very clear an good explanation. Thank you very much! Now I only wonder how to finish the hem neatly, do have an advice for that?
You are a fantastic teacher! I cannot understand how do you do the hem? .......also I cannot find the video regarding the first technique! :-)) thank you so much indeed! you are amazing
Thank you so much! Very clear, detailed tutorial. One question - I prefer to keep the 2.5 cm back seam allowance for the zipper. How do I go from 1 cm for the kick pleat seam to 2.5 cm above it, without creating an obvious puckering?
Hello, I Really liked the video. But I was hoping if you could instruct a little in detail on how to finish a hem in this case. Also would this kind of a vent be useful in a princes panel dress ? Thank you for the wonderful video once again !

Hello FeeShion. There are 2 ways that you can do this, blind hem or attaching the lining to the hem, the neatest being the latter. If you are going to attach to the lining fuse the hem and attach from the inside just like you would with a jacket hem. If you are going to blind hem, again fuse the hem on the inside and blind hem by hand. Do not pull the stitches tight, just enough so that they are laying flat against the hem but not loose. This will give a really nice finished blind hem.
HI Michael I am new to your channel and new to sewing. I really liked your placket video tutorial and this one too. Tell me please, to do the blind hem, do I need to buy the hemming foot for my machine? Thanks for your generosity Michael!
Dress attachment continued - Open the dress out and construct the vent, i would suggest pinning the vent in place and then hanging the dress up to see if the vent is lying correctly and not pulling, this way you can monitor and adjust the vent with pins before you sew it. When the vent is in and hanging correctly, attach the side seams together and you will be nearly there. If your dress has sleeves, set in now and the finish off the dress with the hem. I hope this helps you Regards Mike
Hello. The way that i construct a dress is to create the front panels first, then construct the back panels including a zipper if it has one. Then onto the lining, attaching the lining to the neck front facings and the same with the back attaching the back neck facings to the lining. When you have created all of the panels mentioned above you should have 4 sepperate parts, the front & back main panels and the front & back lining panels with neck facings attached. - Continued in next reply
Hi Kendy4 The board is a extra wide ironing board from Brabantia. For the pattern construction and sewing we use a 3 metre long table by 1.5 metres wide.
If i was to make a strapless dress i would then adopt to make the outer body of the garment first, then the lining in full second. When complete i would attach the lining to the body of the dress leaving the lining as a floating lining (not attached at the bottom) I would then hang up the dress or put on a maniquin to attach the vent with pins first this way you can adjust if needed, when the lining is hanging and there is no sign of pulling, continued on next reply.
Amazing! Thank you so much for this! you've made what i initially thought was going to be a massive headache seem so simple. Your teaching style is perfect! :) Great stuff... is there a particular angle the diagonal of the vent needs to be?

Thanks very much sir .. Pls will this work for a double back vent/slits of male coat also?
Yes, it will definitely work on a coat or anything with a centre vent. Many thanks.
Can you explain why you used fusible on the right side as you can see the fusible on the right side of the finished garment.
