I've learned the best techniques from you by enrolling in your course. A master tailor praised my work....I made bespoke pants for my husband...and he thought I was a real tailor. Thank you! I highly encourage all here to enroll in the English Tailor's course. It has so much value for such a small fee.
This is probably the best fashion designing video i have ever seen in my life. It is highly instructive and actually teaches an unknown alternative way of constructing a front fly zipper. Thanks for the video.
I have a machine for upholstery purposes, however, I’ve always want a Seersucker suit for the summer so I bought the Burda 7046 pattern for jacket, trouser and shorts. I thought I’d have a test run first making the shorts in canvas, so far everything has gone well until now, Burda instructions aren’t that good when it comes to fitting fly’s. I’ve watched many TH-cam podcast and I keep coming back to this particular podcast, it’s easy to follow, clear and concise instructions and very well explained, so later today I will be fitting the fly and finishing the shorts, then I’ll make them out of the seersucker material. For anyone who doesn’t know what a seersucker is, well it’s a pastel striped suit to wear in the warm summer months. Thank you for this instructional video, 10 out of 10. 👏👏👏👏
....coincidentally,,,,,it happened that Hobby Lobby put their seersucker fabric on markdown last year so I got the light pink and the powder blue . Made pants, vest, and bowties in each,,,and they turned out SUPER NICE !!
5 years ago you helped me finish my pants for my senior collection. Here I am again brushing up my skills the english tailor way for SD fashion week hehe full circle moment

I was making my husband some trousers with a commercial pattern and when reached the fly insert couldn't fathom it out so came here. Brilliant tutorial clear and concise they look great when finished. So pleased I then I went in search of how to sew a shirt for him!

You have saved my day. I have a vintage pattern for men's trousers and some of the key markings are missing from the reproduction. The instructions just as well be in Swedish and I have never constructed a zipper in my life. Odds against me, this video has redressed the balance! Thank you!

Thank you very much for this. I am a future tailoring student who's currently in fashion school but taking time off. My husband continues to struggle with ill-fitting work trousers so I've taken upon myself the task of making him a custom pair. I know drafting and fitting. What I have not done yet is construct a pair of proper trousers other than elasticated stuff I do for my kid. I am a lot more confident now! Blessings.
Thank you sooooo much, Sewing Guru. I'm sewing a Burda men's pattern that has the fly as a separate piece. The instructions for attaching the zip are terrible. And all of the tutorials on youtube have these humps that are already attached to the front leg patterns. I couldn't find anyone that showed how to do it when the pattern piece is separate. I was losing my mind. You are a friggin lifesaver! Thank you so much for saving my sanity. Blessings to you!
Thank you sooo much. . .you are amazing. . .I'm not longer afraid to do it. It looks wonderful. You explained it so clearly and slow so that I can follow it. Greetings from Bakersfield, California USA 🇺🇸

This is a great instructional video!I have been making pants and everything else for about 30 years and you really taught me a great way to make a fly.Its better then my way!
Perfect. Very easy to follow and detailed enough to give excellent results. Just changed and over-sized pair of ladies pants to fitting men's pants using just your instructions. I was hesitant to try the fly zipper as a novice. This made it easy.
Brilliant instructions. You have just guided me through this process where the instructions on the pattern had failed. Thank you. Now to attempt the jacket!
Dear Sir, I would like to tell you, that I have been looking for a tutorial on how to sew mens shirt's, trousers, etc, and was absolutely thrilled to find your tutorial. I have been rather wary to trying to sew men's stuff, but as costs are getting so expensive for good quality mens clothing (as is women and children wear ). I am forced to try and sew men's trousers. Looking at your tutorial has given me enough confidence to try, thank you. Will post when finished.

Thanks a lots Micheal for this really easy to follow explenation! I re-started sewing after about 15 years of "abstinence" :) and could not find any better explenation than yours! The only thing I needed to be careful with is that I fixed the zipper for a womens trousers so I had to think (and sew) vice-versa.
Truly, what a video! just too good n very easily understood, when sewing is taught by a professional its worth every second of the class, and I really appreciate Sir Michael Coates to have shared this video with us n make it available in you tube. Thanx Sir

I had never made a pair of pants before, and the instructions that come with the pattern wasn't as clear as I'd like. It was great to actually see someone do it, now I know exactly what to do. This is great, do you have any videos on making a full suit?
Dude!!! THANK YOU!!! That was GREAT! Completely different from the sewing pattern that I'm using - but you're method and instructions Rule! Seriously. Almost lost me on the second side of the zip - but you immediately brought it back together, if that makes sense. Time for me to break out the stitch ripper and start the zipper part all over - which I don't mind. I Really Appreciate this video and am Subscribing. Don't know what else you have - but I'm Thankful to find a guy who can help a guy in an easy for a guy to understand method! Thank You, Kenneth
