Jason Dornstar got his start shining shoes serendipitously one morning at the Denver International Airport while acting like he was an employee at one of the Executive Shine Stands. After this exhilarating experience and earning a quick 40 dollars, Jason went on to be an Art curator for a local brewery in Denver in his free time. A few years later, Jason was offered a full time position Shining Shoes at Nordstrom in South Denver Colorado. He was searching for references to learn from in the shoe shine community and found Mike Wilson on TH-cam. Mike Wilson was shining shoes with such a classic and authentic approach to the art of the shine. While watching Mike Wilson pop his rags while Mike listened to jazzy funky beats in his office, Jason was inspired to make a shoe shine video of his own. After Jason created a few videos he soon ended up catching the attention of The O.G. Mike Wilson himself. The small but often cheeky rivalry was then born. Jason still considers Mike Wilson as the originator of shoe shine videos on TH-cam and contributes most of his success to the inspiration he recieved from Mike Wilson.
After honing in on his skills as a professional shoe shiner, he was encouraged by his loyal following of subscribers on TH-cam to continue creating these videos. A couple of years later, after traveling to Hong Kong to teach the Art of Shoe Shine to future business owners, he made a name for himself in the Global Shoe Shine Community by trailblazing his way to the top on social media. Jason continues to teach and inspire many new faces in the Shoe Shine Community while serenading the ASMR Community with the subtle sounds of the Shine.

My Allen Edmonds required the same amount of extra attention (dark chili). Stiff & needed the conditioning to get that shine! Worth the effort though, the leather will last forever if taken care of. Shoot us a before & after pic when you do the Vibram installation, Josh, it will be interesting to see!

Jason, I had a pair of Magnannis very similar to these (black and blue patina) but when I went to polish them with the Renovateur the color came right off!! Have you had an experience like that? If you have, how did you avoid it. Looks like you’re doing here almost exactly what I did with mine...
Question: I have a worn pair of Redwing steel toe work boots that look like they’ve been roughed up with 100 grit sandpaper on the toe. Can they be shined?

You'd be surprised. I'd say if there aren't any oil or grease stains, they'll probably come back to life very well.

Yesterday I bought a pair of cowboy boots with rubber soles and heel. I could have bought a more expensive pair with leather soles and stacked heel but I prefer rubber. Leather soles wear faster, absorb water and don't grip as well as rubber.
Quick question, may have been answered before, why when applying the the first soap do you clean it off instantly? Thanks. Love your work.
The water tends to soak in, especially if the shoes are new or well worn and have no wax protecting them.
