@@AngeloShoeShine do you wash and reuse those microfiber cloths or are new ones part of the businesses’ budget..b/c those cloths work great but its a pain in the ass to take out those stains that seemingly get locked in the fibers
Weirdly enough this is how I stumbled across asmr. I always thought it was a goofy weird cringy trend. But during lockdown in 2020 I started watching videos like boot cleaning and hoof trimming/farrier/horse shoeing, leather working and wood carving. I think I inadvertently got myself hooked. I could watch (and listen lol) to him clean boots all day. Love the before and after!
And there are all these half naked girls trying g to make authentic noises, when in reality, ya know most guys watch cause... well... half naked girls..
And haircut asmr too

I suspect it is either for dislodging gunk or for the ASMR sounds
I'm not certain, looks like it could be to remove the old coating off the Goodyear welt to condition the leather so it maintains its water resistance, or it could be to dislodge gunk and also burrnish out cracks starting to form?
All the lather on the right boot is so satisfying to watch. 😌😴

I shine boots as a hobby myself and I saw some old stuff and some new techniques.
What would have been helpful is to see what each tool/tin/liquid/etc you used before using it. That way, we could try out what you used and see the results ourselves, as well as experience how each tool or tin of polish feels for reference.

The wow factor of most transformation comes from just CLEANING!!! I love what you do but i can't understand that people dont have the time to just wash their shoes. After that maybe add a little paste. Still great job 👏
It ain’t always about time; there’s lots of stuff people pay for in life that we could do ourselves.
But part of the reason we form societies is so that we don’t have to do everything ourselves. We all contribute in different ways and rely upon each other’s.
Like, this person is clearly a good shoe shiner, that’s how he contributes. But maybe he’s not a good chef, and so he often eats out, relying on other people’s contributions in that area. Hell, maybe the chef cooking his meal just got his shoes shined the past weekend.
Of course ideally those contributions would be far more evenly valued and rewarded than they are but that’s a different topic haha
Also, depending on the area you live/frequent, shoe shiners can be a lot more readily accessible than going home to do so yourself.
@@BoykoMix Very very well put, but I believe experience is also a factor. Just imagine how relaxing it would be to have this done, kind of like getting a haircut.

Haven't seen a punch / chisel used on leather before. What are the purposes?
Stretches the leather to allow for moisturizer to penetrate the pores of the leather. This is only done on boots that have been through many miles and worn a lot and if they have been caked with shoe product. Thanks for your comment!
