just got mine today. Brand new to drones. Never flown one before. Flew it in high winds near a creek with plenty of obstacles. The thing is extremely easy to fly.

Hey Rob, as a TV producer for the last 30 odd years I thought I would just jump on one of your comments. You said that for "an average user of a Mini 3 Pro it might be more satisfying to shoot 4k, 60fps ". I can tell you that there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that you need to shoot 60fps over say 30fps unless you were intending to slomo your footage. You will only end up with bigger files and there would be no discernible difference in quality.

I lived on Oahu for 8 months and stumbling across this video today reminded me of how much I miss that beautiful island. I still enjoy flying my DJI MAVIC PRO and I just received a DJI FPV in the mail yesterday and cannot wait to bend the air to my will! I’m looking at the mini 3 pro as an upgrade from my MAVIC PRO.
Just bought the mini 3 pro, before I had the mavic pro. I don’t know if it was wise move but I wanted something smaller….
@@dsmpampis smaller drones are typically better for beginners as they are easier to control. Good choice. My first drone is a Mini 3. Haven't upgraded yet but I think I might just get the pro version for the extra features.
I'm a big fan of my mini 3 pro so far! I'm getting some serious professional quality images and video. Controls are smooth and vertical mode is dope!! I'll give it 8.5/10

Just received my mini. I had only flown a p8 toy drone to practice until my mini came. Oh my, the mini Flys so much easier, I would say like difference between might and day, but it's an even bigger difference than that. I can fly...😊🙂 😊😊😊

I picked 1 up in Oslo from the Dji Store yesterday, they dont joke around, 13600kr/ about 1360$ haha for The Drone and RC controller + 2 year Dji care. Upgraded from Mini SE, had enough of wifi transmittent and using a phone... Did my first flight today with the Mini Pro 3, Love it! I have to wait for my next paycheck to get the flymore package tho haha. Not cheap to live in Norway hahahah.

Thank you for this video, this is a ton of information! Currently considering trading my Air 2 for the Mini 3. The biggest reasons for me are the lighter weight, which comes with fewer restrictions for flying. Much easier for international travel!

Absolutly LOVE MINE ! I really HATE IT too. The screws for the propellors are so thin that when you crash , THE HEADS of the screw break off and leave the thread in the retainer. Now you HAVE TO RETURN your and mine drone for new motors or complete replacement. BUT I STILL LOVE IT

Absolutely picking this up for filming weddings. I have been using the Mavic air 2, and that’s more than enough for weddings… but this small form factor for one, and the built in screen means no more fumbling with my phone. On top of all that it shoots 10 bit color and has a larger sensor with a wider aperture in comparison to my MA2. Main complaint for me with that drone is low light performance. I’ll probably keep the MA2 for super windy days though.
Update: picked up my mini 3 Pro, set it up, did the firmware updates. About 15 error messages. Compass nor imu would calibrate. Had to return it. Ordered again. Ugh.

I received the replacement unit and I have had zero problems with it. Absolutely love everything so far. The most important aspect for me was the remote (with built-in screen) along with the low noise level. I film weddings, so those two things will make my job, less stressful and more convenient. Overall better image quality than my Mavic air 2 (with 10 bit) and it’s perfect for what I do. I normally sell my former drone when upgrading, but this time I’m holding onto the Mavic air 2 for those windy scenarios. The image coming out of that during the daytime is more than enough for weddings as it is, but I do prefer the mini 3 pro!
Good review. Just a few points:
(1) Preflight inspection is always wise. Shouldn't promote going straight from storage to launch in one step without inspection.
(2) It can be easily heard @ 100 meters high and 100 meters away. Yes, quieter than many others but still very detectable in quiet ambient areas.
(3) Get 2 larger batteries when you can. My flying session with two large and one small battery is almost 1.5hrs.
Good points, but. Doing precheck should be done before you leave the house.
You cant hear it at 30-40m in 90% of the time. Only windless conditions or no levels of sound going on but the drone you can hear it.
I just did a hyperlapse 60m up, no wind and whilst talking with my kid. Barely noticeable😃
Totally agree on the bettery. Unfortunately we’re not allowed in Europe.
Valid points, but noise really depends, i would say its more like individual of where you fly, the scenario and normal/sport/cine mode.
@@RobHK I always do it at location, as the trip from my house to location sometimes actually messes up the compass for example. Don't know if it is something in the car or whatnot causing it, and it is not always. Also I like to check propellers as I think it is very sketchy with the folding/unfolding as they easily are being touched in some manner in the process (and to me, they feel very fragile)

The whole point of owning a DJI drone in the “mini series” is to avoid having to get a license and restricting you from flying in lots of areas … if not I think most would choose the air 2S or 3 if you have deep pockets 😂
(4) The RC controller is about easy setup, but that 700nit is waaaaaay darker than most mid/top tier phones, not to mention screen reflection.

Major supply issues for the "Fly More Kit" over here in Australia at the moment which is very annoying as just over 20 minutes flying is just not enough. Is my first drone and I absolutely love it even after a couple of minor incidents with trees but totally my fault for flying at night and unable to see the drone. Obstacle avoidance was set to "Stop" but not sure if that feature works at night with only poor street lighting.
Wouldn't hesitate buying a second one but only have two hands.

I was doubting for a while but i decided to go for the air 2s instead.Received the drone a few days back and i have to admit it’s a beast of a drone,the right choice for me. My mini 2 will be my backup drone for places were i can’t fly the air 2s.
Can you give some reasons why you went that way?
@@Meatwad650 to wager a guess would be that the Air 2S handles heavier winds and the sensor does allow for better photos and such. Since he already has a Mini 2, he's not getting too much more with the Mini 3 Pro but the Air 2S allows similar features to the Mini 3 Pro. I love my Mini 3 Pro but sometimes wish I had a bigger bird.

@@Meatwad650 the Air2s has a full 1 inch sensor and the mini is 0.8 inch. The Air can get up to 5.4k video... I like the sub 249 for how/where i fly for sure.
Battery and battery life is something to consider as well. there's rumor of a new Air3 this year but with the Mavic 3 classic out there DJI has all price points pretty well covered

I already have mini 1 mini 2 and now mini 3 pro.....I bought that for the sensors but are they so safe to fly the drone without your heart hurts? 😅

Suppose I use that drone while I'm going stand up paddle boarding or canoeing, so what if the drone falls into the water? Can I set the drone to always follow me? Can I use the drone in the rain or in the dark? If I use the drone to film, won't the hum of the drone disturb the footage?

The bad is that they advertise it’s 249gr (with basic battery) on takeoff weight but…it’s actually 250-1. I wrote to dji and their answer is that depending on the batch they may be heavier or..not. That’s screwed..imagine you think it is and you get stopped…they discover it’s heavier! Huge fine…as completely different rules…(in Canada at least)

This is the best video I’ve watched on the DJI Mini 3 Pro to date. I always worry about a drone dropping out of the air and landing in water due to a technicality beyond ones control. Do you recommend some type of insurance to cover such instances or is it necessary? As for insurance, my insurance company covers everything when im out traveling, but i would suggest checking this out with yours.
Here in Norway we have a complete different system than most others.
But you can also get a dedicated Drone insurance which will mostly cover everything…again, depends on country.

Very informative video for new users of Mini 3 pro. HDR video you mention doesn't show in camera menu options & when I shoot in 4k 30fps the video doesn't get recognized as HDR video either (bcoz its 8bits only) so wondering what am I doing wrong?
Many users I interacted say there is no HDR video directly instead you need to shoot D-Cinelike 10bit then later in editing you convert to HDR.
It could be a combination of that which is not clearly stated by DJI.
Hower HQ 24,25,30 fps is where dual native iso kicks in (hdr) dji might mean hdr with this as it brings more dynamic range in d-cinelike to highs and lows. I have a comparison of this «settings for beginners» which shows the differences in shadows/grain etc

Although I love my Mavic Air 2, I went with the Autel Nano Plus. I prefer the camera on auto with the Autel and the color profile works because I don't edit post. Sure I would like the built in screen controller but for $629 US dollars delivered it was no-brainer for the Premium bundle.
How long have you had the nano plus? And are you still happy with your purchase?

Air 3 might come in May. I would suggest waiting for that, at least to see the speccs
@@RobHK the size of the mavic air 2 is awesome. It depends a lot on remote id as well. The mavic air 2 has to have a module attached in the fall. Plus the geofencing.
I considered the Nano+, but just too many drawbacks vs. the Mini 3 Pro. Smaller sensor, no active track, larger aperture, can't shoot in 4K @ 60fps, slow motion is only in 1080p, no color screen controller, etc.
I like the drone but was disappointed to find out that Lightroom does not have a lens profile for the Mine 3 Pro.
Does anyone know where I need to go online to register this for Germany? And, do I need liability insurance for it in Germany? And, do I need a license?

Doesn't any third party addition (ND filters) take the weight over 250grams for registration? I thought the rules said take off weight.
When you put on nd, you first need to take off the lens protector which is there when you buy it..

Wish somebody had told me that you cannot record voice over video on this controller unless you do screen video recording, but then you have all the icons, gridlines etc etc on the video.
I want a quality drone but don't care about editing, looking more for point and shoot/ view. Would this be a good choice ?

I have a question Rob - you make no mention of the overheating problem of the Mini 3 Pro. Other reviewers have said it can easily cause unwanted landings. As I live in a country with regular temperatures above 33C, this is stopping me buy the Mini 3 Pro. I would love to hear your opinions.
Never had any issues with overheating, so I can’t mention things that don’t exist to me.
If you hover still, you overheat. Doesn’t matter drone.
When you fly, you get airflows which cools the drone 🤷♂️
I have a lot of videos using this in hawaii for 6weeks. 38C every day.

@@RobHK I have DJI mini 3 pro, when it hovers, it doesn’t overheat because the propellers provide enough air flow. The only time it overheats is if you turn on the drone and don’t take off.
If you live in Canada, 3/4 of the season is below 0 anyways. 😊🇨🇦
-that definitely sounds like click bait. It would never overheat while flying because the props keep it cool. - But the Mini 3 (standard or pro). Best camera I’ve ever owned.

I hear conflicted opinon from different TH-cam reviewers about the visitbility of the RC controller screen under direct, bright sunlight. Have you ever been in a situation where you struggled to see the screen because of the sun?
If you see in the video, the sun is directly above me and is blasting the screen. No issues to fly, of course you will get screen reflections and you will notice the difference , but overall visibility is still good 👍

The problem is that in the US there are fewer and fewer places to fly (legally) . In So Calif is even worse.

I'm conflicted with Mavic 3 Classic and Mini 3 Pro regarding the active tracking. Am I right that the Pro doesn't follow, say, a moving car from the side but only from behind or front?
Mini 3 pro can do parallel tracking
@RobHK thanks, I just watched a video of parallel tracking. It wouldn't be in sports mode, so it could only be maintained around 25mph. I guess the Mavric would have a higher keep up speed? I think the Pro doesn't have side sensors? Something I've been making comparisons with the Mavric that it doesn't have.
My problem is that I cant go buy that brand new cool controller. Because then i Loose the FCC hack, that is installed on my Iphone. And I wont be restricted to fly only around myself, due redicilous rules. Why dont they have those stupid rules in USA? Maybe theres a reason. So sadly I cant get that remote. Im stuck to my phone.
There’s no issues with the DJI RC’s range. How often are you flying over 1,5km?
I think most people including myself averages around the 1km mark and with the latest few updates there seems to be no issue at all.
I’m still working on my test on that with the latest firmware.
Hopefully that can give you a good answer

Wait for the Mini 4 pro if you dont need one now. But mini 3 pro is 100% worth it over the mini 3.
Getting the mini 3 you might see yourself wanting to upgrade after 6 months because it doesnt have the features the pro version have.

24fps is not more natural, it's just cinema film standard, but it's really old format suffering badly from jittery movement. You want smooth footage then shoot at 30fps.

i vnoticed in wind is sucks mini 2 was amazing and had more signal thats only downside
There are videos of the mini 3 Pro in 50mph winds with no issues and signal issues were already addressed in firmware upgrades.
So they still havent included an ND filter which you can switch in and out like my Sony R100 that is 10 years old. Come on!
