Pretty expensive, although in certain areas they do sell. Here in Connecticut, I've seen quite a few. I even seen ONE Excellence trim, the Holy Grail of the XC90.
With a super charger, a turbo charger, three electric motors, an adaptive air suspension, what could possibly go wrong? IMHO, the T8 is a car that I might lease, but I certainly wouldn't want to have anything to do ownership, because I suspect that long term this thing would eat you alive. And it wouldn't be in small little bites.
Yep leasing a T8 R design S60. But so far not a single issue and I’m averaging 64 mpg. And I drive in all electric mode as much as possible. Work and back which is around 45 miles round trip and I’m averaging 66mpg on a daily basis there. But it’s not the SUV and it’s a 2019 with a slightly smaller battery pack.
I love the XC90. I really believe it STILL has a better interior than the newer GLE, X5, and especially Q7. And when I say that, I'm speaking in detail about material use and overall design. Yes, Sensus needs an overhaul to catch up to the current infortainment trends, but overall execution is impeccable. That said, one thing Sofyan did not address in detail is the complexity of the XC90's powertrain. I think it is a technological marvel, and that poses huge benefits as well as potential pitfalls. It is supercharged, turbocharged, has THREE electric motors, and is AWD. My only concern is long-term reliability of all of those mechanical bits.
I wanted to get a Volvo but saw the price ( I was getting paid $17.25 an hour when I had a job) so I got a Mazda 6 instead. Beautiful car... but Volvo has a special spot in my heart. Once I get back on my feet and work hard I’ll get one!
*Volvo did not get rid of the fog lights. They just don't put them on the T8 for whatever reason. All the other models have them. Also, this trend of endorsing larger and larger infotainment screens is stupid. It just forces you more to take your eyes off the road because of the unnecessary amount of clutter larger displays have. 9 inches is perfectly fine and the way it's laid out works. There is no reason to fix what isn't broken.
Love this car! The GLE with it's MBUX, power second row, E-ABC, and AMG styling makes my heart go pitter-patter more and would probably be my choice, but the XC90 is objectively a world class midsizer. I know a lot of people with them. It's amazing how well it's aged.
My 2019 XC90 T8 has 20-23miles electric range on a normal day (yet you’re saying the 2020 model has more battery capacity...). And, in fact, that means I’m on plug-in electric for over 50% of my annual miles. Happy with it - though the nav system & maps are rubbish
I drive 17,000 miles/year i.e. pretty much every day. So, every day the first 20 miles are on electric. I.e. the first 7,000 miles per year. And if you charge at home, electric driving is less than half the price of petrol.
It is scaled really small. I test driven a few months ago. This is not even suitable for families with small children. It is really tight for car seats and cargo for stroller. It is disappointing really.
It’s never coming back. Oil consumption problems killed it and Volvo/geely is going 100% EV soon so won’t spend on R&D. It was a very smooth donk though, and a modern version would be perfect for luxury hybrid since it’s so good at idle I couldn’t tell it was on. I thought the v8 was also good.
Philip Hoang early years of the inline 6 had oil consumption issue. Problem was fixed so that’s not a issue anymore. You are correct on the move toward electric cars. The main issue with the inline 6 is lousy mpg.
not sure why the comment on towing not recommended --- the T8 manual specs this as 5000lbs towing (if the trailer has brakes) in US, and there are also towing specific stability features in the braking system
So much attention to detail and yet they neglect or forget an armrest for the second row captains chairs? I’d have to opt for the 7 seater based on that alone. Also, no power folding or easy way to bring the third row back up at this price range? Overall a very nice SUV though.

I’d trade it for sure!
I dont know why americans like three row suvs .....if I had to move 6 or 7 adults I would *god forbid get a mini van 😔.........but knowing me imma buy a rs3 sedan 😂
It's 2020. Given that most americans are switching to crossovers and SUVs, the lowest a vehicle should be getting is 40mpg. Anything less isn't worth it.
Owned by China, good luck !
China is paying the bills, but Volvo is the same company it has always been.
Treads true, but with the electronic part of the company, some come from China. Opens the back door.
@@bt4b4 This SUV has been pretty popular in scandinivia since its launch. And trust me, scandinavian don t buy trash cars.
Jon petter nice, but I didn’t say it was trash.
Looks nice but I still hate Volvo’s infotainment and lack of real buttons. Plus they’re reliability is horrendous.
"Hey...u guys"..... Pardon me? Think about proper people addressing.....
