- 24' x 24' Garage Build Part 1 - Here I dig the footing, build the forms for our concrete, laid and bent the rebar, and poured the monolithic slab.

You lost me when I saw a dump truck full of concrete. 😂
Yes, wtf??
Thank you for making this video about the preparation and pour of a mono slab.
When you said that the last batch of concrete seemed to be different to the previous ones,
and there was a lot of bleed water,
I was thinking that mayhaps the folks at the batching plant mightn't have put as many kilos of cement per cubic metre or possibly, not as much plasticiser in that last batch.
For me, I think excessive bleed water translates to "internal segregation"
of the components of the concrete, lack of homogeneity.
Apart from that bit of "constructive criticism",
I think that you , and your crew did a great job.
Contractor poured slab for my addition in 0F temperature. I asked if he was crazy - this is the coldest day in years. Assured me it would be fine. 25 years later not a crack.
i transported a couple of yards of concrete in my tipper truck i had to travel 5 miles to the site when i got there it was solid with all the vibration.
awesome job looking forward to the garage build
Thank you, that video should be up in a couple days.
Really nice job digging those footings, and forming. I’ve done monolithic pours on smaller jobs like sheds, but never one that big. Great job!
Thanks 👍
Great work and looking forward to see more videos.
Thank you!
Amazing job ❤
Bro did a 3ft foundation. That garage will withstand a direct nuclear explosion lol
Probably to get below the frost line so the whole thing doesn't move.
Good luck brother .👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Wow! 22k ! lost all my channels when I went premium …glad to find you again
and nice garage!
That concrete will last forever
20k subs, nice!
Maybe do the ramp now…via the dump truck…probably won’t regret it lateron ✌️
Sean, if you were building a block(or brick) garage, instead of stick, would you have gone deeper with the footer and how wide would you make the footer? thanks for the video!
One thing I do if I hit a rock screwing up my trench is after pulling the stone out, I toss some of the backfill back in and drag the flat side of the bucket to keep it flat. Then I go back over (just one pass) with jumping jack and this helps me sleep at night. But idk anything about keeping concrete in shape.. I build walls on 3/4”
Thanks for the tip, I need to invest in a jumping jack.
Great job! What did the two concrete mixer trucks cost you with delivery?
nice work how much does something like this cost?
I'm surprised that you did not put down insulation underneath slab and along the edges to minimize any heat loss.
Do you think the footing with slab on top is better then the thickened edge approach? How deep did you go?
Good Job, I had the concrete calculated at 22 yards assuming your trenches were 12 inches wide
There was a lot of over dig because of the rocky soil and that's what threw it off.
Great video. Can you explain why plastic is not installed under the beams arounder the perimeter of the foundation? Isn't moisture a problem there too?
Thank you, I'm no concrete expert but I believe the moisture is more of an issue for the slab and not the footings.
@@srmcontracting But the beams around the perimeter are also concrete, which are also subject to moisture wicking up from the soil. In fact, since moisture is most likely to accumulate around the perimeter of the slab from rain and roof runoff, I think moisture is the biggest concern in the area where there is no plastic installed.
Nice work man I been following for a while. What are your short load fees around there?
Thank you, it's about $400 no matter how many yards you get.
that wide footing COST A FORTUNE! !UNREAL ...why wouldn't you use a 6 inch trencher ORlay up a cheap block wall?? WE overkill everything today because everybody is rich......
It's the stupid code. Unreasonable overkill fits all local building code.
Man just order 3 trucks
Set and poured a LOT of monos, never seen one done like that before. Yikes.
Why didn’t you vibrate itv
How much to build total with high costs of building materials here in Florida. I need an ADU built how much total
The whole garage build was about 22k but if your in FL you won't need a slab like this. You should be under 20k for sure. Also a pole barn might be a good option to look into.
Very rough finish, why not pay a couple of finishers? That floor will be hard to clear when oil is spilled on it.
How many yards of concrete did you use?
It ended up being 28
He used rocks to support the rebar. 😮 Is that Allowed?
Yes
FYI it’s Cubic Yards
How many days did you spray the slab?
3 days, after that the temps started dropping so I just left it covered up for about 10 days.
That was some thin plastic.
what happens if no vapor barrier?
I did plan to put it but I forgot. It's not code for an out building and the building doesn't have HVAC so it's not a big deal.
Столько сделали, но плохо что выбиратором не прошли
Dump truck 🛻 with concrete.
NEXT 😂😂😂
I got quoted 8500 does that sound correct
That sounds reasonable, materials alone are 5-6k
I would also guess that the materials are about 6k total. Then you add the exavator and labor for another 2k you end up at around 8000. So I would say 8500 CAD is on the higher end but still ok.

You have to invest in a tripod. Your videos are too short for this genre. Record 3 or 4 hours with sound of machines than edit down to 1 hour. Mix in a little voice over just context. Mute curse words if any. Great for educational purposes & business. Most important, place your business info at the bottom on the video screen. Watermark style. Give free business tees to best comments related to the video. Will help your retention rate and algorithm. Make sure your business info is on them. Cheap investment great for advertisement purposes. #construction #education #machine #building #garage #srmcontracting
I like bro !!!
awesome job, do it once do it right so you don't have to do it again , pay no attention to the nay sayers/know it all
pretty sad not to know EXACTLY how much concrete you need
Yeah especially 4 yards short
The over dig and the rocky soil threw it off big time
99% Of People Wrong
Watering Concrete Every Day
After Pouring New Slab.
Amén.
A five dollar ground strap cost you over $1000. I think what you need to do is stick to your concrete business neither that or take a few courses on truck and vehicle repair.
He is doing just fine.
Do better yourself before telling people how to do things
Why on earth would you dig a footing 36 inches?? Huge waste of time and materials.
I'm thinking it must be way up north with ground frost/heave issues.
Did you look at the plans? Maybe that is what is required, or maybe the owner plans a future second floor.
Frostline is 48 inches up here in canada
How come no wall hold down bolts on the perimeter ?
I don't understand why you'd even make a 24 x 24 garage. Do you know what the dimensions of modern vehicles are?
American foundation work is illegal in most other countries. What a joke
why is that?
Obviously an unlicensed contractor. He doesn't know the building code / doesn't have a clue how deep footings are to be set. And the concrete companies in the area refuse to deliver to him.
Put down the pipe...
Some buddy missed the numbers 4 yards
