    You just being so happy has influenced me to be happy too. I guess that what happens when someone is genuinely happy. I am just amazed at how you treat mealybugs as a little thing (I get so upset when I see them on my plant babies). I just am so happy watching your vlogs.

    I had a crested aeonium starburst. I thought it was a disease, without researching on it, I threw the trunk away, but kept one normal looking crown. My gosh, you treasure them and they look so well , and beautiful and you get excited! You’re truly a plant ( succulent) lover. The chubby paraguayenses, specially the one in water , to me they look like jewelries in this video! They are cute and beautiful! Thanks for sharing your excitement about the crested ones!😊

    Remember one time we were talking about how crested form? I knew it had something to do with the air early formation of the leaf propagation so I was trying to time it where I go in and do a little bit of damage to the tip of the leaf. I've been somewhat successful but a lot of them grew out of the cresting . I have three promising pvns going right now! I'll keep you posted but I'm ecstatic over your treasure find! How Do you get rid of mealy bugs? I killed a succulent with neem oil. What Do you use?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's difficult to completely get rid of mealy bug unless you use a systemic pesticide spray applied twice a year; which can do harm to a lot of good insect pollinators.
      To get rid of MB already present on the plants, I prefer to use a more organic certified, very low toxicity product called Ecopest Oil by Multicrop available here in Australia. Since a lot of people can't get this product, I concocted my METHO SOLUTION and swear by it. This is my go to when Meallies are present and so far, it hasn't harm any of the plants that I use it on.

    HI Liz, you have so many succulents, how do you water them ?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      With a hose and water sprayer...LOL Now seriously, the soil is the important component of growing succulents. I hardly water the ones in the big pots and large containers. The only one's I water frequently(once a month) are the ones in the pretty pots which all get hosed down; so it's quite easy to water them. The propagated leaves/babies are the only one's that get watered nearly everyday. Using a pump sprayer makes it quick and easy. Been having a lot of rain lately, so the ones outside; I have never watered at all since February.

    I've been having this problem with my echeveria huthspinke. I cant seem to get the big leaves that I propagate to sell to be NOT crested anymore. • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a plant called Pachyveria Elaine Wright that is crested. This plant turns beautiful pink. It's very difficult to get a straight normal plant to grow from it. I suspect your Hutspinke could be Elaine Wright. I have many normal Hutspinke and could never get it to crest up.

    • @PFTTUNES3000
      @PFTTUNES3000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GrowingSucculentswithLizK @Growing Succulents with LizK Or maybe its not a Huthspinke at all.....i checked its not Elaine wright. My echeveria is a deep purple with pinkish red at the tips when stressed. The mother plants all have large rosettes. Only smaller leaf propagation produces normal growth. how do you grow to be crested?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

      Since cresting on succulents is a type of mutation this is the only way I know to force them to grow crested. Thanks for watching.

    You need a facebook group. I would join. It would be a great place for your followers and subbies to be able to show you photos of thier own Succulents. Plus you could post interesting photos from the subjects of your videos here on TH-cam

      Great idea Gracie. I'm working on my page at the moment but it's just a matter of finding the time. Got too much on at the moment but will eventually get there.

    Sorry, Liz, I was disappointed that you didn't show how you propagate your crested plants except for the result 🤔🤔or did I miss something??
    I so want to own a crested Fred Ives.

      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You haven't miss anything. A part of the propagation process is the preparation which is in this case is after plucking the leaves is to leave them alone for months and they grow into crested plants especially if they get attacked by mealy bugs. Propagation into soil is the next step which is the next video.

    I propagated leaves of one of my succulents and almost all of them turned crested, although the original plant is normal. Not even sure what happened there, leaves of other plants produced normal succulents in the same container 🙂

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the variety, a lot will show crested when they're still young and a lot will also grow normal form.

    I can tell you really love crested! I wish my cuttings and leafs grew as well as yours! Maybe if I played your voice for them.....huh....do ya think?

      LOL...... I think you're taking care of them too much Dana. I always treat my succulents the same way I treat my man. Treat them mean to keep them keen....🤣

  • @panicmosem5969
    @panicmosem5969 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So they became crested because you ignored them?? Sorry, I am trying to understand how you caused the plant to crest... or did you simply have such a large amount of leaf props that cresting was bound to happen no matter the circumstances?? 🤔 Thanks💚

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They became crested because I let the mealybug attack them to a certain extent. Every time the leave gets damage by the meallies, it tries to grow in the scar tissue resulting in cresting.
