    This is the Japanese Souffle Pancake Recipe video i watched to try and learn how to make mine:
    • ENG │수플레 팬케이크, Souffle...
    Being at home has made me want to try out more cooking recipes, and ever since my visit to Gram Cafe a couple months ago, I've been wanting to try and make this myself. and when i saw how simple the ingredients to this pancake was, i was like, yo im def going to try it.
    If you havent heard of Gram Cafe, it is a cafe founded by Takeshi Takata, a cafe that first opened in 2014 in Osaka, and dedicated to sky-high souffle pancakes. These pancakes are light and fluffy and are done so by whipping up a batter heavy with egg whites, and then stemed under metal domes, and then cooked until its golden on the outside, but white and fluffy on the inside. It is delicious and it's like having eating clouds (not that i have ever eaten clouds before but i assume that'd be the texture if i were ever to get a mouthful of it.
    Anyway, the ingredients to the fluffy wobbly japanese souffle pancake is simple:
    2 egg yolks
    4 teaspoon all purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
    2 egg whites
    1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
    1 tablespoon of sugar
    Here's my attempt at recreating this. spoiler alert, mine is nowhere near as pretty as the one in the store or the video....

      Hi Janice,
      Maybe you can try a pancake mould? And have you notice the difference between your pancake and the ones at grams? The ones at grams look a lot whiter... perhaps they don’t use so much egg yolks? I’m just guessing. Try another batch? Keep making those video...😁

      @jeffstraveladventurevlogs9884 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When beating your egg whites you want to make sure you get them to a point of them having stiff peaks.
      A key point is to make sure once you have beaten your egg whites is to fold and not mix the egg whites into your ingredients as you want to keep as much air in your mixture as possible so they rise when you cook the Souffle

    I tried making these pancakes a couple of weeks back and even though my arm ended up hurting from all the whisking it didn't turn out fluffy at all :( I think the electric mixer really helps but then also the flipping looks so difficult when it's very fluffy... I will definitely give it another go and even if it isn't that fluffy, it will still taste really good :D

    In order to get the height, you really need to be gentle with the egg whites..keeping the air in them. Also, you need to put the batter in the pan in one shot, when you add more on top, you get the division, and lose the height. Loved watching!

  • @catherinechan8046
    @catherinechan8046 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You need to add a bit of water after one min in the pan cooking, also the egg white has not beat enough till u can turn the white upsidedown

    Great job practice makes perfect they say so you did great for first time effort , as to the meringue the test is turn the bowl upside down are we ahead it should stay in the Bowl ( I promise you this is not a joke it's true and it does work if you've done it properly otherwise it's all over your head lol . The electric whisk is a far better idea than doing it by hand ( otherwise you have arms like Popeye lol) .Nice vlog as always stay safe take care
