    I’ve always been so intrigued with Capsule Hotels in Tokyo Japan. I used to binge watch a lot of TH-cam videos on other people’s experiences in capsule hotels, and have been so tempted to go to Tokyo or Osaka in Japan just so that I can experience staying in a Capsule Hotel for myself.
    When I found out that Sydney, Australia had a Capsule Hotel opened up, I couldn’t NOT book myself at night there. The Capsule Hotel i stayed at was the Space Q - Capsule Hotel Sydney Australia. This video documents me exploring the Capsule Pod and the Capsule Hotel amenities. It was fun, but... i still want to stay at a Japanese Capsule Hotel though. Tokyo / Osaka next trip?
    Real talk though, all the novelty aside, i want to touch on how it compares to other accomodation in sydney, such as a cheap/ budget hotel and / or hostel.
    If you are looking for a cheap hotel in sydney, the Space Q capsule hotel is a really great place to start. As you can see in my video, the cost is slightly higher than budget hostels in sydney, but definitely comparable to the prices of budget hotels in Sydney. the bathroom and kitchen is shared and there is a communal area, but you also get the privacy of your own space and a safe + locker to store your personal things.
    The Space Q Capsule Hotel is a mid point between a hostel and a business hotel in sydney - you get the opportunity to meet other travellers (as you would in a hostel) but you also get the privacy of your own "room" like you would in any budget / business hotel.
    If you are a solo female traveller and having a female only floor / room is important to you, and is something you look for when staying at hostels, this might be what you're looking for too!
    Details on where i visited:
    Space Q Capsule Hotel
    Address: 752 George St, Haymarket NSW 2000
    Cost / night: I paid $50 AUD for one night

I'm confused coz your door locked yet in the testimonials many ppl complain their doors were not allowed to lock due to fire rule regulations lol. I’m so glad you did this review!! Helped me not waste my time booking a room. There seems to be a lot of stuff that many people wouldn’t like about this. Things out of order, uncomfortable temperature in the pot & showering situation. No storage for baggage in the pod, no privacy when it comes to sound in the pod… no thanks.

    I actually stayed here for three weeks in late 2019 , it was fine , male bathrooms too small though and the TV's don't work in any of the pods, they have been disconnected. Staff were awesome and Lift is being replaced at the current time.

    Thanks for doing this video. As a man I would have to go in a different section of course, but I wanted the security you showed where you can lock your capsule. What concerns me are the elevator and the air-conditioning in the capsules. When you enable the controls you said the temperature still kept rising. Were you able to cool your capsule? If not, do they relocate you to one that works?

    Most capsule hotels in Asia (I say Asia because they’re prevalent in Japan, Korea and Taiwan) are made for one purpose - sleeping. Most pods are not soundproof and they’re (usually) much smaller than the SpaceQ pods.

      Janice Fung yeah just be mindful that there are some dodgy guests staying at capsule hotels (because they’re cheap, sometimes random drifters stay at capsule hotels in Japan); I’d recommend women-only capsule hotels (like Nadeshiko in Shibuya).

    I got to stay in capsule hotels in Japan last month! They were a lot cheaper than $50 though, one was only $18/night (it was originally $30 but I somehow got a deal) and the second capsule hotel was around $36/night. The worst things about them were check in was late- I think around 4pm or 5pm and then check out was 10am?
    I hope they get more popular worldwide!

    • @JaniceFung
      @JaniceFung  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Xeqcme 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JaniceFung I would say the Sydney one looks cooler, but I think I like the Japan one more. The cheaper capsule in Japan was not as fancy, the shower room was shared, you can hear people coming in and out while in bed. The more expensive one had individual showers, a lot quieter, newer facilities. Both great locations (walking distance of a train station), very easy to check in/out- we booked online, close to convenience stores/restaurants, good comfort, they were both very clean but since the cheaper one was older it had that uhh...older look- like more beige colors? Staff were great at both places.

    Love your TH-cam vids (but please make sure text is on the screen long enough to read it). I have stayed several times at the Pod Inn in Launceston, Tasmania. It's great, super clean, everything works, it's run by the owners so the service is great. And their pods look just like the one you stayed in. Only thing, their mattresses are a bit thin, apparently they have new ones coming.

      @@JaniceFung Funny thing, the guys from Launceston Pod Inn wanted to set up in Hobart but bureaucracy got in the way so they choose Launceston instead. I actually live near Hobart but go to Launceston every month or so for work. A problem I sometimes find with pods is when the neighbours don't keep the quiet, but most of the time it seems to be ok.

      Btw there is a Japanese sneak shop close to space Q, at outside of capital theater, maybe next time you could make a video about Sydney deserts. There are many Thai deserts shop on Pitt street, also some Japanese deserts shop on regent plaza, and also Anita, koi, and so many shops as far as I can remember.
