Kim Delaney and Jimmy Smits had incredible chemistry together and are such good actors.
Greatest police show ever because of these two and the equally wonderful Dennis Franz.

My goodness, the mother wore me out emotionally with her portrayal of the anguished mother. What an actress!

Among the cavalcade of character actors who appeared on the series, Annie Corley is in the top ten, in my estimation. Her anguished portrayal of a murdered son's mother is heart-wrenching and a superlative piece of acting.

Perhaps the great achievement of NYPD BLUE was that it could reach the heights attained by great American dramatists such as Arthur Miller and David Mamet. At its best, and it was often at its best, it was genuinely great art in dramatic form and, like all great art, it stands repeated experiencing without any lessening of its power and impact.

Goddamn I remember this story. Murdered child, father who did the crime pins it on a poor mute who communicated by pointing at particular Bible verses, terrorises the mother into silence. Sipowicz gets too emotional and nearly blows the case, and it's down to Andy, Bobby and Diane to trap the guy through a very complicated dance to split the mother away from him while reeling in the killer by playing on his need for understanding and sympathy. It's been years since I last saw the rerun but damn do I remember this story.

I’m from the 90’s I was born in 88 so I was growing up during that decade. I remember the commercials and the hype about NYPD Blue but I never watched it cause I was too busy with Scooby Doo. But for some reason I’ve always thought about it. Well a couple of weeks ago I was bored and looking for something to watch and I finally took the leap and started NYPD Blue on Hulu and it is easily one of the greatest shows of all time! The story telling, the acting, writers, etc .. everything is constantly on point and fantastic! And don’t get me started on how Andy Sipowics is probably the greatest character on a television series ever and a damn fine actor.
