      English has the obvious example of calling close friends as ”brothers”.
      In Swedish, children may call adult men ”farbror” (lit. ”father’s brother”, or uncle to translate it properly), but this is somewhat outdated after the entire country decided to collectively abandon auch indirect formalities.

    In Ghana that cloth symblozies royalty. It is called Kente. It originated from the Ashanti tribe of the Akan. The cloth can have different patterns or symbols (andinkra symbol) which has dirfferent meanings. The way the man is dressed, it is a huge cloth which he wraps around the body. It is easier to wear since the cloth can sometimes be very heavy. And also the man can wrap it around his waist, so he can dance the adowa dance.

An outfit with several different colors in it and with some wild patterns in it would be very expensive in old times, hence why it fits as a status of royalty. In other words, you're still single even after you exchange your wedding vows. The only way to get married in Japan is to go to the City Hall or Ward Office, fill out a bunch of forms and submit some paperwork (you actually can't hold a Shinto ceremony without this paperwork...not sure about Western). I married my husband three years ago and the wedding ceremony is something we plan to do "at some point." When (if) the time comes, though, I'm definitely going for Shinto. Hi, so generally a Nigerian bride doesn’t always dress like that . Infact this is the Igbo tribe dress & the bride added the veil for extra effect & still in the Igbo tribe , we have different bride outfits depending on the part of Igbo Land you are From & also the remaining 500 plus tribes in Nigeria have their own unique bride & grooms attire . So , it’s not accurate to say a Nigerian bride attire & also that scarf popularly called gele ( pronounced gay-lay) isn’t heavy , depends on how it’s tied. It could be really big or small but very light actually. Nice one in general 👍🏾👍🏾

    • @ugochi1952
      @ugochi1952 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Nutty Jedi yeah I agree that the bride is gorgeous, however , since this is my country and this bride is from my tribe , lol I’d say , the variations are not slight . Look at it as parallel lines , from seeing what a certain Igbo bride wore, you still don’t have an idea what all Igbo brides wear because it’s that different. Same with , the remaining 500+ Nigerian tribes , what the brides wear ( grooms too ) are so different. Maybe to explain this further , you’d watch Roju video by Chiké , he had another variation of the Igbo , Hausa and Yoruba tribe( in order of appearance in the video & these are the 3 major tribes in Nigeria), bridal & groom attires in the video & also the attires of people of these tribes & you’d notice that the Igbo bride’s attire there , doesn’t even look like the one here & still that’s not all the Igbo bridal attires .

    • @ugochi1952
      @ugochi1952 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Nutty Jedi I believe you probably watched the video , I suggested you watch .Anyways, so there are no sub tribes , the Igbo tribe is just that, one tribe . Almost 40 million Igbos native to only Nigeria making them the largest amount of people native to only one country when we talking tribes . However, there are subgroups that can trace themselves to more than one tribe in Nigeria , the Igbos being one of them . So it’s safe to assume , you can’t expect approximately 40million people to dress same.
      P.S: I just noticed in your old comment you referred to the clothing of a people as costume , it isn’t . It’s their preferred choice of attire , with lots of meaning , heritage and respect attached to each item, so it’s not a costume .

    Raeen is so observant. He notes how India is such a huge and densely populated country that what people wear from region to region, even village to village, can vary. And he wasn't all that interested in the rich Indian couple- been there seen that, on to the other dresses! Looking at the different garb he analyses how the colors and designs connect the couple. The Chinese couple wear the similar red clothes and share the red scarf with the rose knot. He immediately noticed the matching tartans the Scottish couple wore. He saw that what the Indonesians wore was similar to what Indians wear down to the bride's mendhi. He asked a good question about the pattern on the Yakan (Filipina) bride's face, not immediately seeing it as make-up. Altogether he did some good commentary. 👏

    I am Romanian and we do not usually dress like that as brides, unless we are from a small Northern area called Tara Oasului.
    The majority of traditional Romanian bridal dresses are actually a long white skirt with or without a colorful apron (depending on the area the bride is from), white blouse, usually with colorful hand made embroidery, and a long white scarf on her head. The colors and shape of the dress differs from area to area, but most dresses are made of two to four pieces (blouse, skirt, sometimes apron, and sometimes a vest). In some areas the dress is one piece only, from neck to heels. All traditional dresses (wedding or not) have colorful hand made embroidery on them sewn in a specific pattern.
    However, most brides wear white western bridal dresses nowadays.
