    Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about the line art curve modifier in the comments below! :)

    Simply amazing 😍❤❤❤

    thanks for this. I bought it and couldn't figure out how to do it (could only find the manual, no video walk-thru) so this was perfect timing. I couldn't get my setup to work as well as yours...the shadows didn't seem to move according to the light and also the lines don't look as good as his samples on the site. But I will keep experimenting. Really appreciate this walk thru SO much. cheers

    Nice tutorial...when i use it on my rigged character my render view starts lagging...is there a way i can avoid the lagging or at least reduce it

    Can you change the resolution of the grease pencil for easier playback? Or maybe turnoff in the viewport and visible only in render. Because 10 fps would be very slow to view it.
    Can you change the colour of the outline?
    Can it be rendered in a separate layer and composited, with shadows? Or do I need a shadow catcher for that?
    It looks good but I feel like the inverted hull for outline would be better as this looks like grease pencil line art, in which its able to render only whats in front of the camera. And for some reason grease pencil seems to slow down my PC even in low poly scenes, so i tend to not use it.

      Hey, so there is a resolution setting where you can adjust it for better performance. Even though I do call this effect “live” I wouldn’t ever call it real-time since the computing for it does take some time depending on the complexity of your scene and the settings you have enabled. It is around the same performance as the grease pencil line art modifier.
      Viewport Render toggling can be done on the modifier itself just like subdivision. Just check which view you want it to be present in.
      Layering is possible, best thing is to just hide the scene collection from your render, but keep the line art enabled with a transparent background. That is the easiest way.
      Last, color can be adjusted in different ways. My favorite way is by baking your objects textures or diffuse colors to a color vertex attribute and then add that to the modifier. Whatever you’re vertex colors are on the scene objects, the same will be applied to the line art. I know this process is confusing. I plan on improving it in future updates and having my own video on how to use it.
      I hope that answers all your questions! Let me know if you have anymore.

    This looks amazing. Question though, is there a baking option, and if there is a way I can manually taper the lines, how with the lineart modifier, I can have a vertex group with the parts that I want specifically tapered when using a thickness modifier?

      Hey, baking is something I plan on creating in the future with the use of simulation nodes. That will definitely help once they are out of the alpha stage.

    Is there like a discord for this or anything? where we can ask questions? :D Running into a couple of issues.
    Like is it possible to have the Modifier Ignore certain edges that it creates lineart on?

    • @Tradigital
      @Tradigital ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I plan on opening a discord soon. It is possible, the best way is by using the occlusion collection. If you cover up where those edges are with a plane or box and then add that to a new collection, you can then use it to exclude the line art that is behind it. I already plan on making this easier in the future.

    I bought this upon your recommendation. It looks good but I’m wondering why the material is a different color than black. The cool shadows you showed don’t look as good, so I need to find out the issue there. Also do you know if I can put a noise on the effect? Thanks!

    • @Tradigital
      @Tradigital ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey, I just added a noise feature to the line art to give you more freedom over the placement and distortion of the lines. As for the materials, you can set whatever material you want to the line art. If you assign the material in the modifier properties and then go into the shader editor you can adjust the colors and texture however you would like. I also have a baking option that can bake the objects in your scene into vertex colors, if you add that color attribute to the modifier and your shader then you can then have individual colors for each object. I would take a look at the base file and see how the modifier and shader are set up to better understand this. I also have documentation on how to bake in the upper left text box in the UI of the base file.

    Is there a way to Save a line art modifier setup in the asset browser or something so we dont have to append it every single time?

    • @Tradigital
      @Tradigital ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At the moment node groups don’t have an amazing way to use the asset browser, but I know that is something they are working on for the future.

    I followed the steps, but isn't working. Someone have any ideas of what's going on? I tried 2 different versions of blender, the newest and an older one.

    im using 3.2 and followed everything here, but its not working, the outline is not showing up in eevee or cycles...

      Don't think it works on 3.2 - you'd need 3.5 or above I think
