Had a friend who's daughter was already baptized when this happened. She was commanded to renounce her father. She left, her mother who is now divorced from him left. The girls half brother left and his wife and kids also. That's 6 people who left in support of one person. Bull shit move by the leaders. I remember this well.

Keeping children away from the church till 18 was a good idea. It is child abuse to subject a child to it.
Now with hindsight, we learn that it was super-easy to get rid of this "revelation." Just revoke the revelation and call THAT revelation too.
Why would a child renounce his/her parents at 18 to join the very church that excluded and condemned them?
