Debra Gentry I am so sorry! This made me really sad and kept playing his songs. Over and over. Crazy thoughts going through my head. I guess suicide spares no one! I lost my little sisters at the age of 22 yrs of age/my younger brother at the age of 30, I just hope and pray that God has forgiven them and they are in heaven .
Listening to Mel Street at this very moment ,The world lost a great singer when he took his own life. He really got heavy there toward the end. Too bad he got so depressed that he felt he had to end it all.
I stopped & thought about when this was done, in' '78 ? he was about 43, & what he would look like NOW @ 80, & how his world has changed since then, it blew me away!
I have watched and enjoyed this Mel Street playlist. He is such an awesome talent. I am subscribing based on this awesome playlist alone. Ithoroughly enjoyed it. ~BCK
I wonder why the blame would be travel, family, and alcohol. It was stated at one point that he was having trouble with hand control. Was there a diagnosis?
Just watching this it is really hard to see how fast he is sinking. No comparison to his earlier works. Too many milking the cash cow to stop and avoid the coming train wreck!
+Joshua Io WOW! I had no idea of that.I just saw something "different" about this talent that I hadn't seen on any other of his videos. Man that "stuff" really changes your looks and direction as a person. Really sad to know he had dealt with all that.
What an amazing Talent and an amazing Country voice he had!!
We lost one of the very best ever!!
RIP Mel!!
What an amazing talent! Outshines any of today's "stars."
Mel street one of the best ever completely under rated.

Ive probably watched this a hundred times, seriously !!!
It is a stunningly good song.
That it is.
When life was better !!! Without all this tech crap we deal with today. Family, love, kindness, harmony and respect was still around!!!
This is near the bottom on his way down! Great and potentially the greatest with the sudden terminitiom!!

If I could only receive 104.1 WVSB again ... GEORGE PARK ..... thanks for sharing DIRKWORKS2
I watch this often, to me he just didn't look like the earlier Mel.
If I'm leaving, I'd better start...
This was his last video, before he passed away
+Margie Glenn he committed suicide october 21, 1978 because he had a brain tumor and he couldnt handle the constant pain
I wonder why the blame would be travel, family, and alcohol. It was stated at one point that he was having trouble with hand control.
Was there a diagnosis?
If Ron Gaddis had a twin brother...look at the facial features. Damn.
Can you post the entire episode somehow?
Pudgy Mel is best Mel.
wow do you find clips like this...and does anyone know what year this was.
1978
I have watched this several times lately, to me, he just didn't look like he felt very good anymore. He seemed heavier in his face? I don't know.
+Margie Glenn You're right Margie, I thought the same thing...
He looks like Buddy Hackett in the still photo
Just watching this it is really hard to see how fast he is sinking. No comparison to his earlier works. Too many milking the cash cow to stop and avoid the coming train wreck!
Any body know what album this is on ? How about someone download it to the tube.
***** Country Soul Album
Anyone know whats going on with him here? Just so much different here than other video's I've seen!
+Kenny Kiser This was a couple of years before his death--he purportedly was already far into alcoholism by then--sadly.
+Joshua Io WOW! I had no idea of that.I just saw something "different" about this talent that I hadn't seen on any other of his videos. Man that "stuff" really changes your looks and direction as a person. Really sad to know he had dealt with all that.
This is a little more than alcohol
Alcohol, and a hard time dealing with his schedule and road shows. Committed suicide I think in '76.
It was alcohol and depression
a damn shame I liked mel
As others have stated, he looks very pudgy, pasty and unhealthy in this video. Must have been near the end. Kind of hard to watch.
Rafe Hollister , he still had a great voice even if he was otherwise deteriorating.
You're making it hard?
Sad he committed suicide
Today is the day he did it in ‘78
