I think the question was more so asking whether or not protein shakes do damage, such as liver and kidney damage, in the long term as apposed to if they make you gain weight or not.

Whey protein on it's own is ok if you're stuck for natural sources. The problem is all the other crap and sweeteners that are in most of them. I firmly believe that if you eat clean natural protein (eggs, fish, red meat etc.), you actually need less of it because the body can use it better and it's much more nutrient dense. Building muscle is so much more than just getting enough protein per day.

Yea they gave a good answer not sure what the complaining is about lol
only time theyre not good for you from what ive gathered is if you have a high protein diet lets say 250 grams of protein and you use a 50g of protein shake to hit your goal, and you find out you have unhealthy kidneys. At that point its not really the shake mainly its your kidney so cutting back protein in general would help. Most people dont want to cut out food so the shake would go. Hope that kinda makes sense to yall.

@@makedreamsareality3634 a good whey protein isolate is bioavailable and in the muscles within 25mins… as I understand, it doesn’t even reach the kidneys and liver to be broken down - so theoretically, doesn’t cause any load on organs for breakdown.
Standard food proteins need between 4-6 hours to breakdown, enzymes in gut, filtering toxins via liver and kidneys etc…

I just take a shake after the gym. I work out directly after work, so if i made dinner directly after - that would make me sit down, and that would make it extremely hard to get up again. So the shake just allows me to remain on my feet for an extra 45 minutes and do all the shit i need to do before crashing on the couch.

Also it doesn’t smell like a shark farted in the company break room, which your coworkers will appreciate. Nobody at your job gives a shit what your biceps measure, but they will fucking hate you if you stink up the whole joint while they’re getting their one break for the day.

Protein supplementation can also be extremely hard on the kidneys! As a stage 3 kidney disease patient I’ve been instructed not to eat protein! I’ve obviously refused this advice but protein powder is out of the equation now. It’s way too potent and not readily absorbed like people say. Natural is way better and more easily recognized by the body. One shake a day wasn’t associated w any issues but 2+ shakes a day can cause problems.
