    Yes, the real name of this restaurant is Cheap Cheap Restaurant, and it’s located just down the road from the main drag of Ao Nang - the touristy central of Krabi. There are a lot of restaurants in Ao Nang that cater to mostly touristy, both international restaurants and Thai restaurants.
    Through some family contacts, we went to Cheap Cheap Restaurant, and I was quite impressed with the menu… they literally had almost everything, from every corner of Thailand on their menu - there must be hundreds of dishes to choose from. While they did have some popular touristy dishes like pad Thai, they also had some seriously good southern and even northern Thai dishes. Soon I found out that the chef at Cheap Cheap restaurant in Ao Nang was a former hotel chef, and knew how to cook just about every type of Thai dish.
    We first began with a coconut to drink, which was incredibly sweet and refreshing. I don’t drink coconut too often, but I really enjoy them when I do. They are so fresh and hydrating and just naturally sweet.
    The main dish I was most interested in trying was their version of pla sai tod kamin (ปลาทรายทอดขมิ้น), deep fried fish made with sand whiting fish, which are kind of small French fry sized fish, which are quite popular to eat in Krabi. The stack of fish came to our table extremely crispy, and topped with a mound of crispy turmeric and garlic, and served with a chili garlic lime sauce on the side. They were extremely delicious.
    The other dishes we ordered at Cheap Cheap Restaurant in Krabi included, kai jeow (ไข่เจียว) - a Thai style omelet, soup neua (ซุปเนื้อ) - beef soup, gaeng som cha om kai (แกงส้มกุ้งชะอมไข่) - soup with climbing wattle omelet inside.
    All the dishes we tried at Cheap Cheap Restaurant were excellent. I think it’s a good restaurant in Ao Nang to order a diverse range of good Thai food.

    Hi Mark, I am at Cheap Cheap now for the second time. I got on their wifi and showed the hostess your video. She showed the whole kitchen staff!! We're all having a great time talking about Thai food and they are very excited to see your video. I love it here! Best restaurant I have found in Ao Nang.

    Just ate at Cheap Cheap Restaurant last night and was not disappointed. I ordered the small fried fish, a crab omelette, stir fried morning glory and soft shell crab in curry sauce and it was all amazing! With a side order of rice and a coconut juice the total came to 700 baht (about $23)! Definitely going back again!!

      Elliot Jay he only got 2 reactions. Eyes wide open while sitting up tall or eyes shut while leaning to his right lol. Every bite, every time, every video. You can be like "Here Mark, try this water" He'll close eyes and lean to the right "Mmmmmm, so watery!" I really like his videos but is it possible he has never had a bad bite in his life? I like food vlogger that can say "I like this, not that so much though." Just seems more genuine. EVERYTHING you eat can't be a 10 on a scale of 1-10.

    • @sue8412
      @sue8412 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can attest that he does give criticisms - I think he's a positive guy so he doesn't say too many bad things, but you can tell he doesn't really like sweet or fried food, and his reaction is much more reserved when he's not super happy with something. No tilt, no lean. Plus his reaction when eating truly bad food is hilarious because it so rarely happens (watch his Bad Food in Koh Samui video!)

    • @rpv220
      @rpv220 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      exactly. Mark is as genuine as a food enthusiast there is. He knows the best places, thats why he eats there. Unlike other ppl whos has their palates fixed on doritos and taco bell.

    Hey Mark!
    I was recently in Ao Nang for holiday and had an amazing experience at Cheap Cheap! To be honest with you, we tried other places in the area and were thoroughly disappointed. We always went back to Cheap Cheap at the end of the day.
    The 2nd time we came in the woman looked at me and remembered me as "som tam boo pla ra" girl right away haha
    I think the name might throw some people off as being "cheap" in terms of quality as well, but every dish we had (especially the pla tod kamin) was really great and really affordable compared to other restaurants of much lower quality and authenticity.
    I've been craving that fish everyday since my trip! Thanks for your awesome suggestions, Mark!

    wow this looked like one heck of a good stop.. we have a thai place in the local shopping center here where I live. It isnt at all cheap ... but one of their cooks has been there forever and has great presentation like the visual prep you see there, and when your order is prepared by her, it is incredible. the flavor is always good but some cooks just have a talent.

    Wow, what an awesome restaurant!!! I loved the dishes that they served you!!! I am a little bit scared though of eating whole fishes. I tried to eat whole and small fishes, that i think were deep fryed, in France one time, but I just couldn't make it! I was so scared of like chewing the eyes and stuff.... I like keeping it safe when it comes to food. I barely dare to try things like rabbit (they had it in France) and duck. It's soooo scary....
    Thank you for a lovely video. I can't wait to travel to Thailand one day and exploring everything nice there.

    Hi Mark. Been there like 2-3 weeks ago and the food was good although I think your dishes were prepared especially for this video since they weren't usually that color- and flavourfull. Unfortunatelly Ao Nang is not really a foodie destination. We loved however the Boat Noodle which is a little up the same road, towards the mosque. Try them next time!
