At last!! Someone has made a video with geography/local mapping so you can get a sense of where you are and where to head re direction. Most informative video on Krabi I have thus far seen. However, my only small criticism of this excellent Krabi travel guide was that there wasn't enough of the England football match shown. Perhaps some close-ups/money-shots of the Enland playing etc. Nevertheless, thank you Eriksesc for your video par excellence.
Thank you, glad it was helpful! Yes, totally agree on the England match. I wanted to include more, but I was afraid it might be a copyright infringement so didn't take the chance. 😊

@@erikssc what do you need to fly drone? I have drone I want to bring with me for personal use. But not sure if I need flight license or anything?
If your drone has a camera you need a permit from both the CAAT and NBTC. Its a bit of a hassel, but I did it. I am sure a lot of tourists fly without a permit, but you risk fines. Some good information here:drone-traveller.com/drone-laws-thailand/
@@erikssc I agree so well done and just what I wanted to know before I go

Great vid thanks
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Great video, very well laid out and informative. I got a lot of out of watching... thanks!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful! 😊
Hi I really appreciate your detailed video it has been the best that i have seen so far in around 20 different person. Thank You very much for the detailed video!. I was wondering how can you know if in a particular area you can fly your drone (as in if its a national park vs not) is there a map? also what are the steps to be able to fly the drone in the national park?
Thanks, generally it is not allowed to fly in the national parks, even with a normal Thai permit. I am afraid I am not sure how to apply to fly in the parks. I just got permission from the keeper at that one island to fly there. I think all the islands there are national parks. Ask your hotel about where the other national parks are. God luck!
Excellent Video 😊
Thank you very much!
Hi Erik, I have travel Ao Nang Beach, together with the four island hopping on a long tail boat in December 2018. I was stayed in Ao Nang area. Your video is super entertaining from start till the end. Very details, with geography local mapping the locations you have visited. One of the most informative video I have ever seen with edited arrows, highlighted moving dotted line to the locations. Admiring your video editing skill, excellent travel guide. I am also a TH-camr. But, my videos can never come close to your video editing skill. Please share more video. Enjoy your traveling the world. Looking forward for more videos, Subscribed.
Hi Peter! Thanks a lot, appreciate your feedback! Happy travels! 😊
Technical lvl of this video was top notch, so pleasant to watch, im going to Ao Nang in early June for 2 weeks, hoping for a nice time there for sure, i heard Koh Samui has better weather at that time, but idk i want to see these nearby islands so much
Thanks! Yes, have been to Ko Samui in July and the weather there is fine at that time. Might be some more showers in Ao Nang in June, but you will probably still have a great time.
excellent movie, congratulations
Thanks a lot! 😊
Nice video! 🤩
Thanks! 😁
Could you recall if the other tour prices(set by the Panan Krabi Hotel) such as Phi Phi Island tour are similar to the Hong Island Tour
No, sorry. They did have a folder with tours that I browsed through, but I don't remember the other prices I am afraid. You can probably just give them a call and ask them.
Great informative video. Thank you. Can I ask what tool you used for your map please
Thanks! I use Google Earth Pro for the maps. Great free tool, and Google allow you to use it in your TH-cam videos.
Great video and great edition!! Congrats from Portugal!! Another question about long tail boats, i will stay in Ao Nang but i needed to know if it is possible to return later from Railey Beach, the boats run after midnight? Thank you for your help!!! Keep going for great job !
Hi, thanks! I did not try to return to Ao Nang after the period for fixed price expires (18:00), but I have heard that you need to bargain for a private long tail after 18:00 and it will be much more expensive. I think you just need to go down to the beach and ask around for anyone that are driving after midnight and make a deal with them there.
@@erikssc ok really thank you !!
Great video, thanks for sharing. I noted the drone shots when you were at Dragon Crest. What are the Thai regulations regarding the use of camera drones?
As long as your drone has a camera you need a permit from both the CAAT and the NBTC. You can do most of it online, but the final permit from NBTC you get after sending a photo of your entry stamp into Thailand and after that, paying a small fee. It´s a bit of a hassle, but I did it. I have a DJI Mini 3 Pro.
Great video thank you what video equipment did you use
to a video regards Graham
Thanks 😊! I mostly used my iPhone 14 Pro, and sometimes a GoPro Hero 8 Black. The drone shots are from a DjI Mini 3 Pro. Everything shot in 4K. Basically, if you have a recent smartphone you don't really need any other photo equipment to make nice videos these days 😊.
I don’t like steps or hills but I love this place. Can also get a good feed for cheap up the hill.
Yes some of the places needs a bit of effort to reach, but the more rewarding.😊
Good ❤
Thanks 😊
Amazong good job
Thanks a lot! 😊
Great video thanks so much
We are staying at Panan in August, what room number do you recommend for the best seaview room?
Hi, thanks! I don't remember the room numbers exactly, but as high up as possible in the building facing the sea will be good.
This was very helpful! I’m currently in Phuket and going to Krabi tomorrow! Question about the long tail boats. When youre returning back to Ao Nang, do you get on the same long tail boat? Or do you pick another one? Thank you!
Hi Chris, glad it was helpful. About the long tail boats at Railay. When you go back to Ao Nang it is not the same boat. There are some people organising the boats on the beach in front of all the long tails. Just show your ticket to one of them and they will show you which boat is the next one. Maybe you have to wait a few minutes until there are enough people to fill up a boat, but normally not for long.
@@erikssc I'm now on Krabi! Question for drones.. did you get your drone registered and insured?
Yes, got my drone insurance and registration at both CAAT and NBTC. A bit of a hassle, but got most of it arranged before I left home.
Hi is it advisable to go to Phuket first or Krabi as I would be visiting for the first time with family .
Very nice video, hope you will have many good travels in the future.
Was it difficult to get a drone permission?, How long did it take and how much does it cost? Thanks in advance!
Hi, thanks! If your drone has a camera you need a permit from both the CAAT and NBTC. Most of it can be done online, but you need a few documents including several photos of the drone. They answer quite quickly. It only cost about 250 baht, but that must be paid in Thailand after arrival and after you have sent them your entry stamp. Its a bit of a hassel, but its doable. I am sure a lot of tourists fly without a permit, but you risk fines. Some good information here:drone-traveller.com/drone-laws-thailand/
Great travel guide! Thank you so much for highlighting the distance and the ways to get to your destinations, it's so helpful! Your video about trip to Ayutthaya really helped us to make our trip there easier.
I have a little question about the drone shooting on Hong island. Did you already have CAAT, NTBC and FEIC certificates by the moment of your visit and they still didn't let you to fly your drone? What kind of special permission for national parks did you mention?
Thanks! 😊 Yes, I already had my FEIC insurance and the CAAT/NTBC permits, but in order to fly in the national parks you need an additional permit. I didn't know about this beforehand so I am not quite sure how to get such a permit. On that one island my tour guide talked to the island keeper for me and he allowed it.
Thank you for your reply! I'll try to study this question beforehead.
We were in the similar situation twice. In Angtong national park our tour guide told us that flying drone is prohibited but we still went to one of the island keepers and filled the application which we had to take to the park head office on another island. Thankfully, visiting that main island also was in an agenda of our tour. And right after signing the application we were allowed to fly in the whole national park.
And in Sam Roi Yod national park we also filled the same form at the tickets office and were allowed to fly in specific zones and a specific time period.@@erikssc
Thanks for the info! Will plan for the next time :)
Great Video - wish I found this after watching so much junk!! 10/10. If you went for 3 nights - where would you stay ?
Thanks! I would stay within walking distance from the beach road in Ao Nang. Always nice to be close to home after you have been out to dinner or a beer at night.
@@erikssc Cheers - thinking of Railay Phutawan Resort
Hi, did you book the island tour before hand, or could you just buy the tickets on the spot? I'm going to visit there in July, can't wait!
Hi, I bought the ticket at my hotel the day before the trip. I am not sure if it is possible to just show up, and it would also be very inconvenient as the marina is located outside the city centre. Its best to buy the ticket at your hotel or at one of the tour agents along the Main Street. Then you will be picked up at your hotel on the day of the trip. If you meant buying before you arrive in Ao Nang, no that's not necessary. Have a nice holiday! 😊
Very informative. How long did you stay in Oo Nang?
Thanks! I was there 4 full days (5 nights).
Hi I really appreciate your detailed video !!!!!! but you do not tell the prices of hotell room how much is it cost per 1 day
Thank you! The hotel prices vary depending on the time of year (high season vs low season). I normally use Hotels.com to book så I think its the best to check on-line on one of the major hotel booking sites for updated prices.
I actually preferred Krabi over Phuket personally. I loved West Railey Beach but Phra Nang is stunning although East Railey beach isn't the best. Tiger Cave Temple was fun especially having to climb over 1250 steps fighting with heat, humidity, and bad monkeys!!
I did the 4-Island Tour, Railey, Hong Island Tour and Phi Phi Island Tour from Ao Nang
How much did the Phi Phi Island tour cost from Ao Nang?
@@samuelroper3049 It cost me less than £30 but it was over 3 years ago
Krabi offers a mix of a fast and slow paced lifestyle, the beach road is nice for short term vacationing or those hopping on to islands, while the rest of the place is a wonderful mix of serenity and nature...I would recommend to avoid the Indian beach side restaurants, not cost efficient and over usage of chilli.
Thanks for the tips! Hopefully have more time to explore other areas next time!
Hi there, where did you ask the tuk-tuk drivers to take you when you went on the dragon crest hike? I’m here now and none of them seem familiar with dragon crest. Thanks
Hi, I used Google Maps and showed him the Thai name that came up next to Dragon Crest. It took a little time before he got it, but he did in the end :). Good luck!
i live this video. no vlog format
Thank you! 😊
Hi
which paper do you need to flight a drone in Thailand?
I have a smaal DJI mini drone
As long as your drone has a camera you need a permit from both the CAAT and the NBTC. You can do most of it online, but the final permit from NBTC you get after sending a photo of your entry stamp into Thailand and after that, paying a small fee. It´s a bit of a hassle, but I did it. I have a DJI Mini 3 Pro.
Can I enter Thailand whit my drone and then start all the permit form procedure, or there is something what I could do already before traveling to Thailand? Great video by the way, many thanks.@@erikssc
Was there February just gone seems like you was there the same time..Koko hostel brings back memories lol
Beach bar 1 on the beach 100bht cocktails that blow your mind...and obviously railay is amazing when you know where to go especially the hidden bars
Good video very informative
Thanks, yes I was there in November so just before you. Missed the beach bar though. Koko hostel was definitely fun 😊
Even if you miss your own boat you came over on,I think their is at least 2 different boat operators,as long as you have your ticket, you can use a different boat as long it’s from the same operator,I was their nov 22.
Before 6 PM you can use the same ticket for different boats with a fixed price. After 6 PM you need to charter a boat and there is no fixed price.
Hi my friend can you help me is it better to stay at ao nang or railay beach. We want to stay at railay but we are not aware if we could get the boat tours islands tours booked from railay. Does railay has agencies that do tours or all of it is done from ao nang
I am sure you can book the tours from Railay, either through your hotel or through agencies (although I haven't tried it)
Could you please tell when you visited this area? We are in thailand this march. I dont like crowded places. I am wondering how much people would be there in march
ah okay, i saw the news at the end of the video with the earthquake in indonesia. so i guess you travelled in late november 2022
Yes, you are correct. It was November 2022. Not sure about March, but probably quite hot as it would be the dry and warm season.
Well
Thanks! 😊
Which tour agency you book for island tour? please mention name.
Hi, I booked it through my hotel, Panan Krabi Resort. Not sure about the name of the travel company. Sorry.
From which company you booked hong island tour
I booked directly through my hotel, so I am afraid I do not remember the name of the company.
Is Karabi near bankok??😊
No, its a little more than 1 hour by plane from Bangkok.
What is the name of restaurant with the one man band?
Hi, I think the name now is Crazy Gringos. They have changed the name sign in front of the restaurant since I was there.
@@erikssc thanks! Sounds fun
Hello, I am looking for a good video editing software. What software do you use for your videos? Thanks a lot and best greetings.
Hi, I am using Final Cut Pro X which I think is good and easy to use.
Hey could you please share the local tour vendor contact? Thank you
Hi, I actually booked the Hong Island trip through my hotel so I am not sure which tour operator it was. If you are in Ao Nang you can stop by Panan Hotel and check.
Ao Nang better more suited for family vacay, less wild than Phuket.
Agree! Although Phuket is a big place and you will find quieter places than Patong Beach elsewhere on the island.
If you go to Railey beach their is no toilets close by and no vendors Selling drinks and you have to walk half way back and then pay with coins, that’s if your coimg from ao nang.
Its a good idea to buy a return ticket with the boat from Ao Nang. And of course bring some cash :)
very nice video
Thanks 😊
nice explanation bro
Thank you 🙂!
