As someone of South Asian descent she should consider moving to Singapore. It is the only developed country in Asia with a sizeable South Asian population (10%). She will face less discrimination there. There are many people of South Asian descent who have prominent positions in society (politicians, leading lawyers, judges, businesspeople) the top sportsperson currently from Singapore is a young lady of Indian descent- Shanti Pereira…There have been several prominent Singaporeans descended from Ceylonese immigrants (both Sinhalese and Tamil)- Two fine examples are S. Rajaratnam & Tharman Shanmugaratnam (both former Deputy Prime Ministers). Tharman is currently running for President of Singapore and is likely to win.
Yeah, as many Sri langan does- her parent came to Korea as an illegal alien, and some how they've managed to raise their daughter, so how they able to move to Singapore?
@@speakupyt4900 You cannot enter Singapore as illegal alien, or even claim asylum there. Wooooo, I got to see this video FRESH! As a Korean Canadian I can tell you that while I experienced racism when I first got here in the mid 70s, Koreans can be quite racist EVEN HERE IN CANADA! So I can certainly imagine there would be very racist Koreans in Korea. Well done, Showma. So does this mean that she and her parents still have Sri Lankan citizenship? I suppose so. I wonder why when it's been 16 years, and Showma doesn't seem to want to live in SL...
probably because the economy in KR is miles ahead, and she's developed the skills and knowledge to live properly in Korea with a much higher quality of life.
@@user-cnksi223 Oh I got that. I was wondering why she doesn't try to get PR or citizenship instead of getting Visa every year... She listed so many disadvantages
In Korea, the group that openly exposes racial discrimination is usually the elderly. They don't even know the concept of racism. And, as she said, there are quite a few white women who work in certain bars. It is a hasty judgment to think that white people do not experience difficulties in Korea. A foreigner's status is weak anywhere.
Living in Korea as a melanated foreigner can be a "love-hate" experience. They can be xenophobic at times, even if you are minding your own business and just living life.

I'm a Sri lankan who was born and raised in Germany and I've had my fair share of racist incidents as well. Unfortunately that's something everyone will have to deal with who looks different from the native population of the country they live in.
@@laurettaindertel8005 I sound like I'm living in reality, you sound like you're living in a Disney fantasy. Pretending like all races are treated equally anywhere is pure deIusion.
As a Korean who grew up in the West, I totally relate. If an East Asian grew up in Sri Lanka and tried to apply for a job there, he/she would get the same treatment. It's sad that the world is cruel and not united. The least discriminatory countries are Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand.
Look man countries like USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia are literally built to be multicultural and diverse. The same cannot be said for many countries who have their own indigenous people and wants to preserve their cultures and traditions. If you let mass immigration to your South Korea all your Korean identity will be washed away. I mean look at the native red Indians of America, Maoris and Aborigines of NZ and Australia respectively. Do you see any modern American, NZ or Australian practising or following the traditions of the indigenous people of those countries? No right😂. Those people are literally invisible in their own land since they let other people who do not respect their identity and background take over. I mean if you want the same to happen to your country I have nothing to say against it ofc. But I’m just pointing out as to why people of some countries don’t want many foreigners to live in them
@@ABAddonfromHeLLummmm I think I get what you’re trying to say??? but your choice of examples are a little misleading, those people who you describe didn’t lose their countries to immigration they got invaded not imperialism or colonialism just straight out invasion, and then subsequently were subjugated and systematically slaughtered and robbed of their lands and the survivors were completely excluded from the governing and law making process which was formed in part to insure that they would never be able to reclaim their homeland(see America)practice their culture and customs while also having the true history distorted against their will so while possibly well intended it’s a poor example of equivalency
All south Asians have discrimination in other countries and and the other way round that’s how the world is so unfair if everyone was kind and accepted everyone the same this world 🌎 would be so beautiful . She is lucky she had her parents to support with the hard times now she is happy 😊 my sister went alone to Korea to study she loves Korea too much 😂
It's sad to see someone saying what she went through like sexual harassment and racism is okay rather than living at her own home bc of a trivial thing like internet facilities. indeed, we don't earn much but at least we're happy in our own homes. I do plan to go to Australia to live but if things get better I won't go and I will come back to SL if it gets better after I leave. We have free health care and a promising education which is also free. Speaking about Korea this video is a very good example of why I never plan to go to Korea bc this is not the life I wanna give to my future child as a Sri Lankan also I am ashamed and feel sorry for her statements about our country bc life isn't all about money and appearance like Koreans think.
Today I've learned a lot about Korea and am beginning to think twice about going there, though her experiences are good But.....hmmmm its not really easy to adapt to that country's way of life at all, some tins der are kinda complicated bt de fact that their technology there is cool it sounds fun.
It would be best to experience it yourself rather than worrying about it. I recommend that you go on a trip and try it. You can't know everything unless you experience it yourself
Don't get discouraged. Knew of someone who wanted to go to Wales, and people discouraged her to go, because Welsh people had the reputation to be extremely racist, the most racist place in the UK. Finally, the person had a job there, and had a very nice time. Experience things for yourself. Your inner vibration creates your reality.
reminded me of a scene from Law and Order, where an old Korean lady refuses to talk to the black woman officer because of her color, and this is a microcosm of a sad reality ..... we are too coy to cross to the other side of our 'village'... Showma is wonderful...stay on your path girl...

Yeah, as many Sri langan does- her parent came to Korea as an illegal alien,
and some how they've managed to raise their daughter, so how they able to move to Singapore?
Singapore is an awesome place. I like Singapore more than USA
@@speakupyt4900 You cannot enter Singapore as illegal alien, or even claim asylum there. But if this young lady has decent qualifications she can apply for jobs in Singapore and get an employment pass in Singapore. Singapore is 35% foreigners nowadays- there are so many residents from other Asian countries living there already.
why should she? She speaks Korean, thinks like a Korean and dates Korean folks. She's Korean and should have gotten citizenship by now.
야 임마 그녀는 한국인이야.왜 다른 나라로 가라고 하니?

She is beautiful
Now that I see the whole video that’s very sad but it can have cause and effect for us foreigner living there. Her Korean is perfect and she’s an office worker. She’s been living in Korea for a long time so she know how Korean society works. But I still believe on my stated of why the older generation is doing that and how it’s nothing personal toward us. She’s loved by a lot of them though. Probably the newer ones and her Korean friends she went to middle school and high school with
Wooooo, I got to see this video FRESH!
Since you grew up in Canada, would you feel more comfortable living in Canada than in Korea? Right?
It's for a similar reason.
@@user-cnksi223 It's beyond that. because the standard of living is so vastly different, compared to canada and korea which are both MEDCs
We willl see, I want to see myself as a foreigner. To see if I have what it takes
@@user-cnksi223 Oh I got that. I was wondering why she doesn't try to get PR or citizenship instead of getting Visa every year... She listed so many disadvantages
Koreans are colorist if anyone who's white skinned despite what's his/her nationality is they'll treat them good .
They treat light skin black girls and mixed race black girls better
Exactly. White is the standard; if you're white, you're not right🤷
Heard Indians are colorist as well. Just look at all the pale Bollywood stars
more like lookist. color doesnt matter atleast to me.but ill try not to be lookist also as im getting old
되게 예쁘다. 표정과 표현에 매력도 있다. ㅎㅎㅎ
Living in Korea as a melanated foreigner can be a "love-hate" experience. They can be xenophobic at times, even if you are minding your own business and just living life.
You go girl 🥹
She's smart, lovely, resilient and charming...she's going to do great in life!
Never been this early for the video
She is so beautiful! Looks like Indian Actor Trisha Krishnan!

Looks like she doesn’t know anything about Sri Lanka.first of all if you don’t know well about something avoid giving opinions. And she is trying to fit for the Korean culture by disgracing her own country. As a Sri Lankan I feel really really sad .Yes I know Sri Lanka is not a very well developed country, but I would very proudly talk about my country anywhere because my country has so much to offer for her children (citizens).
진짜 조리있게 말 잘하시네요. ㅡ.ㅡ b

Very wise lady ♥️
Why does she look so sweet tho 😂🥰
I'm a Sri lankan who was born and raised in Germany and I've had my fair share of racist incidents as well. Unfortunately that's something everyone will have to deal with who looks different from the native population of the country they live in.
not really, it's more to do with being from a race that is perceived as 1nferior, not about being diferent
@@Cxs1a3you sound like you’re living in 1877. Wake up to reality and science. It’s 2024 now. Get a book or an education please stop talking nonsense

Fighting girl...❤
Uhm I think if they spoke the language really well and if they were ok with the culture they would have gotten the job in Sri Lanka
Doesn't the Kim line Koreans have Indian blood thousands of years ago...? Anyhow she really charming and won't have any issues getting married there.

I am not Korean, but I strongly disagree. Miss Korea for Koreans and she is suitable for miss Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
That's heartbreaking that she was rejected for the part time job because of her look. Most Korean people don't even know that's a racism.

It's because sri lanka is a poor country

Today I've learned a lot about Korea and am beginning to think twice about going there, though her experiences are good But.....hmmmm its not really easy to adapt to that country's way of life at all, some tins der are kinda complicated bt de fact that their technology there is cool it sounds fun.
