Just finished playing this game, using this walkthrough... The art was amazing, the story... Everything... I love point and click games, now I'll finish Full Throttle.
I love The Dig too, the atmosphere of the game is perfect. Have you played Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis? If not, I highly recommend it. Btw, I see that you like Sublime. Maybe you'll like my band, it's heavily influenced by Sublime. It's called Lou Dog. We're here on youtube and on spotify, deezer etc
This still holds up today, so you can probably appreciate back in 1995 it was mind blowing, and like being in a movie, unfortunately i was only about 16 years old back then and it was so hard. There was no internet so getting hints was virtually impossible, they did have these automated helplines you could call but they were really expensive and you had to go to a payphone to call them, or get a big phone bill. Adventure games are still my favorite genre, its just a shame they don't make enough of them these days, mainly because first person shooters became the hot genre around that time, and shops had limited shelf space people stopped making the point n clicks, such a shame for those of us who enjoyed these story driven experiences, although they have had a bit of a resurgence lately im happy to say, I just wish there was more of them.
lol There really only was 2 companies that made 95% of the market then Lucas Arts and Sierra, although Infocom ? had return to zork and zork nemesis and that made adventure game of the year in 1993 and 1996 as well. I think the best over was Indianna jones and the fate of Atlantis and i liked Full Throttle a lot for being original
@@wangyi8031 Yes but the quality stands to this day - Day of the Tentacle e.g. is always among top 5 best adventure games ever made, and Grim Fandango also goes there at the top together with The Longest Journey
Actually this one was one of the last point and click games by Lucas Arts. It wasn't a big financial success due to the market changing and this game at the time didn't had great reviews. I loved this game and still although I think the ending was a bit rushed.
Absolutely adore this game. Was completely immersed in it when it came out in 1995 and introduced it to my daughter when she was 7. She has played it through at least a dozen times, explored all the alternate endings, and just enjoyed the heck out of the experience. The graphics is beautiful, but I would love to see a "deluxe" edition one day with hi-res graphics.
Got this in 96 I think for my PowerMac 7100 along with Dark Forces - I would have been 12 at the time. So much nostalgia feels with this game. Now approaching 40 with 2 kids, how time flies.
Played this back in the day where you had no Internet or walk throughs, you literally had to click and click and try everything until you worked it out. I can't play these kind of games anymore because I'd get stuck and look it up on TH-cam lol😂
I used to play it in a computer windows 3.11 on 1996 , me and my family used to play together all nights ,, we got stocked to assembly the turtle bones so we bought a magazine with some clues,,, Brazil - Sao Paulo
"We want to go home". "That is the wish of all living creatures. It is a vain wish, for there is no true home. All intelligence wanders and has no rest".
Yes, I loved that line as well. Especially the last bit. All intelligence wanders, and has no rest. It sums up the human condition, and is most probably true for all other intelligent life out there in the universe.
I will get chills. I’ve played this game back in the 90’s when I was a teenager. This game got me interested in science, space and of course, aliens. Amazing!!!
Loved playing this in my mid twenties. So glad I found this play through now that I’m an old lady. Brought back tons of memories. I think this game and Myst set me on my love of adventure games. Somehow I missed that Lucas and Spielberg had a hand in it. Pretty cool. Thank you! 💛
Nah, you were an adult... If you could only know how it rubbed off on me when I was a child! A child's impression is so exorbitant and it's a pure coincidence my childhood effectively coincided with the '90s...
Just finished it on my Nintendo DS with DOSBOX. Using this walkthrough, and a little help about the map spire around forums, I couldn't get on the crypt... took me about 4 h.... Masterpiece.... Also got Full Throttle on the 3DS on ScummVM and others. Love playing these point and click on holidays on my little DSi XL and 3DS XL. Both great at emulating DOS games! How many of viewers has it installed on a DS or a 3DS?
I love playing this game back in the day, I played it so many times I was able to memorize everything, I never knew it had an alternative ending though lol
Just stumbled upon this by accident, and it gave me quite a bit of nostalgia. I remember playing this back in the late 90's. And oddly, watching it kind of makes me wish that a sort of remake of it could be made with modern methods. Though sadly, I would fear what would happen if it was given that treatment... fear that a lot of things would be unnecessarily changed.
Oh man, I randomly think about this game from time to time. It was the first 'adult' game I'd ever played. Sure it's a point-n-click adventure game but when you're 6 or 7 years old this game felt so mature. I never finished it of course, I only had the demo disc and game guides weren't even a twinkle in the dialup internets' eyes. Very few games have ever filled me with a sense of wonder like this one did. Low repeatedly saying, "It won't do anything" when I prod around the environment will forever be burned into my brain haha
I played this game when i was, like, 7 years old. Man did it scare me. So many years after i finally saw the ending. Thank you very much for this playthrough!
One of the great games of all time--I've played it several times just because it never gets old. Amazing story, music, and at the time, jaw dropping graphics ;-) Thank you so much for posting this playthrough--it was great walk through memory lane
I would argue it's closer to Arthur C Clarke's book Rendezvous With Rama, only with humans being sent to the alien world instead of their device coming to us.
Não manjo muito de games, mas sempre quando ouço The Future Sound Of London, LFO, Biosphere e algumas faixas do 808 State, lembro desse jogo. Esse jogo marcou minha vida!
This will always be one of my favourite games and some of these scenes are stuck in my mind forever. The music and the great use of colour are so beautiful.
This was the first game I ever played when my parents bought our first computer in the early 90s. Truly epic game to say the least. I miss all of these games i had such a huge collection of rare gems. Is every time I try to play old games on my computer it never works because the games are so old! Anyone have any recommendations on how to actually play them on newer PCs?
Have you tried a Nintendo DSi with DOSBOX or ScummVM? Screen is tiny, but you can read all texts and beside there are spoken dialogues as well. It's my go to way to play these classics. Works like a charm!
This popped up on my feed, man I had forgotten about this game. This game was wonderful. I like modern games but the old LucasArts and Sierra games were special, wonderful games.
It was meant to be a movie for Steven Spielberg, but thebudget wasnt there so Lucasarts made a beautiful pc game ! Here the short Story version as a game!
Thank you! I was not patient enough to finish this game on my own, so many god damn puzzles! But I enjoyed the story so I found this playthrough. And you included the alternative ending as well. Thanks for this experience.
Thank you so much for posting this game nine years ago lol. I feel like I've been going crazy trying to figure out the name of this game. I just found it so thank you
What I never understood - When the alien dives back into the eye to bring Maggie and Brink back - Maggie looks like she was 5 minutes ago, but Brink is now an old man, but has his hand. So I'm assuming the alien went to different timelines and alternate realities to bring them, but then why is Brink old and has his hand? There are infinite realities where Brink grows old, but they might be realities where Brink doesn't even go to this planet. What's the point of bringing that Brink here? It would be cruel and pointless. And when Brink speaks, he is fully aware of what happened to his alternate version before he died, but this Brink is free of the madness, has his hand, and has grown old. Huh? Whut? If an infinite amount of realities are possible in spacetime six, then surely there must've been a Brink with his hand, free from the madness of the christals, that's been through all the same shit as the timeline we have just gone through, but isn't 90 years old? Or am I missing something?
And Low also looks old with grey hair when seen through the eyes of Maggie? I too don't have really understood the final.... everybody used the life crystals in many ways, and they have been on an Alien planet for who knows how long? How distant the trip through the portal was? Space six times run six times faster? It gives Interstellar vibes this ending... Steven Spielberg must have had one or two more ending in mind I'm sure of... Want to see the making of this game now to discover more about the plot...
The atmospherics, the pacing, and the story of this game are superb one of the best sci-fi adventure games even after all this time. You don't get to see the minigame on the communicator in this video which is fun too.
Yes, many thanks for this walkthrough...only way I can see the whole game. I bought it from both G.O.G & Steam and cannot get further because I only have either two or three plates instead of the required four! So I cannot progress further. At least with this I can see what I'm missing.
They should make a movie out of this! I remember that was the original plan but the budget would have been too high back in the day, so they could do it now with the advancements in CGI!
I finished the game back in 1995 without working out you had to press & hold to get the light bridges connected....doh! 😄...lots of walking & hamster balls later...
2:19:07 Just noticed something after all those years. In the cut scene Boston takes out the machine part. The game was in development for a few years and a good chunk of it was restarting development and cutting content. Chances are the devs didn't want to delay the game any further and simply cut their losses. Some of the cutscenes are still laughable tho, lol.
