What do the green eyes mean in the Transformers Movies? I mean we have the blue and red optics most commonly associated with the two primary factions. But why do characters like Lockdown have this feature? Some have suggested that he has them because he's neither an Autobot nor Decepticon. He's a mercinary for hire who doesn't allign himself with any faction. But there are many others who have green eyes such as the Iacon Knights. And this leads me to believe that they all have those type of optics because they're some of the oldest Cybertronian beings around. Even predating the likes of Jetfire. If you think about it Lockdown was said to have been around for a long time which is why he able to capture most of the knights and obtain their ship the Temenos. The guys just has to have it all. I guess his eyes are green with envy.

The "because they have no faction" explanation makes no sense. If that's the case then why does the Decepticon Devastator have green eyes? And once again its because he's 1 of the oldest Cybertronians, predating the likes of Megatron and Optimus. Devastator just so happen to fit this category too. The Constructicons were created by the Fallen during the early days of Cybertron when he rebelled against the Prime Dynasty.

Other colors and why:
Purple: the person absorbed dark energon.
Green v2: the person used synthetic energon.
Black: the person is dead.
Perhaps he took the optics from one of the knights, and transplanted them into himself.

I believe it's related to the Energon that they consume. Lockdown also had green Energon flowing through him. Each faction and the neutrals have their own formulas

My theory about the Energon comes from cartoons and the books. They talked about how Autobots, Decepticons and neutrals produce Energon differently

But it's also been used to mark the traitors to Arthur.
Mordred, for example, has often been described in menacing green adornments and accents in attire, as were his eyes.
Lancelot, at one point, adopts the Green regalia of an abandoned kingdom after fleeing with Arthur's wife and discovering his noble inheritance of said abandoned kingdom.

Lore wise, eyes represent your role in cybertronian society
Red is working class (this is who fhe decepticons are comprised of)
Blue is intelligent cybertronians, those who are not physical workers, but are instead intellectual (who the Autobots are comprised of)
Green is bots built prior to the war for military function (this is why the knights and lockdown have green eyes)
This has typically remained the reasoning throughout transformers media which is supported by the fact the transformers were built as working machines for the quentessons who wanted to use them to expand their power.
As for the real reason, it’s to tell viewers what side each character is on.
Blue is a colour that is non threatening, which fits well for the hero’s
Red is a threatening angry colour, good for villains
Green is mysterious and intimidating, which works well with lockdown since you wanna know who he is, as well as the knights who have a deep lore behind them.
I think it shows wisdom like how blue means you’re at peace while red means anger

Fun fact: there are three different colored energons throughout the Bayverse.
Blue was seen in the first few movies.
Then there was red when Prime killed Megatron in the third movie.
And finally Green.
But the thing is. In TF Prime, Rachet created a synthetic energon called Synth En and it was green. And if you guys didn't notice the KSI drones had green energon and so did lockdown.
Meaning. Lockdown wasn't created on Cybertron but off world.
All the different colored things besides energon was just side liquid, like lubricant it wasn't actaul energon as in TF prime they found a Red energon crystal amd stars cream used one giving him super speed like the flash kinda speed and I think it's depending on where they get hit they spout different liquid, the KSI ones didn't run on energon as KSI didn't have any and only the matrix can revive a spark so they had to use a off version of it, I think the green is dedication towards what they believe in, the knights and their duty and lockdown with his of hunting for money, if it was a energon thing that would suggest the 13 don't have Normal energon
TFP lore cant be 100% connected to Bayverse, where a lot of things are nonsense and doesnt happen in other contiunities, as example: Cybertronians peeing with oil, Cybertronians having leaks or random liquids (as example: Starscream always spit some shit for no reason), and Bay just didint gave a fuck to explain anything, thats why in all movies Cybertronians drop random colored liquids (red "energon" in Dotm as example, literally damn blood but not-actual-blood to push pg13 to its limits). The only time we see actually called energon is Starscream's base with hatchlings.

He has those LED color changing inserts from his local home improvement store. They can change in color temperature ranging from 2.7-6.5k kelvin which is your soft tone up to a daylight deluxe.

correct. the Cpntricticons, Firestar, Jetfire and Omega Prime, along with the few i cant remember, were all from a different "faction" that (at the time) didn't hold to either the Decepticons, or the Autobots.
I also remember (vaguely) this was mentioned once by Oculus on the home world when he was talking to Bumblebee Spike and Jazz, of the different classes of transformers..
The most realistic part of this movie is the CIA / US Government immediately murdering their allies to make money once they're seen as unnecessary.

After Malenia used the Scarlet Rot to basically NUKE herself with Radahn, she passed out into a deep slumber and had to get carried back to the Haligtree by one of her Knights. Radahn however after JUST getting nuked and crippled by her scarlet rot, just continues to fight.

I feel like they can have whatever eyes they want, (except for purple because that was basically forced onto Optimus) but they choose blue for good and red for bad to basically represent the faction if they want to.

He's the body from the blue seraphim realm that was killed or something. The jiren one. They tried to revive his body or something and the first time they did it he was pissed. But he was me before that.
Likely that they glow green due to a specific programmed in purpose. Guy was basically a bounty hunter ruled by his masters.
I'm probably completely wrong about this, but I always thought it was be because of their link to Quintessa, the Iacon knights once served her before betraying her and lockdown is hunting optimus for her, hence the green eyes.
I realise the part in the last knight where she marked optimus with that red gash over his face and forcably took controll of him, challenges this, though the fact megatron shared the same gash and still had his own will could suggest this is an improved upon version of the green eyes.
For instace the green eyes may represent those who served her or once surved her willingly such as the knight and lockdown, and the gash is a new way to show that but with the added benefit of her being able to force her own will upon the bearer, as she did to optimus for most of the film, limiting the chance of another betrayal.
The idea of using eye color as part of lore is so cool to me

I haven’t really watched much of the older Transformers, but in shows like Transformers Prime they kinda showed that it depended on which type of Energon they used. Ratchet had green eyes after using synthetic Energon he created himself. Although it made him somewhat more aggressive. It’s possible Lockdown had a perfected or generally a better version of it. Megatron having Red eyes also got purple eyes when using Dark Energon. And if i’m not mistaken Autobots usually relied on normal Energon (blue) while Decepticons used Red Energon. I have no clue whether or not it’s the same for other Transformer universes.
If I were to guess, the green eyes were the original, natural eye color of all Cybertronians.
But when the war started, each faction requires it's members to have the eye colors of each faction to identify which side they're on

Perhaps it’s Synthetic Energon? In TFP, Ratchet usually has blue eyes like an autobot. In S1, E22 (Stronger, Faster), once he takes the Synthetic Energon, his eyes are green. I think anything with glowing parts of different colors than green usually turns green with Synth-EN. Theory, but perhaps true.

I'd figure their eyes are just to differ between autobots, deceptions, and the unaffiliated. Not something mandatory but rather recommended if you're on one side of the war. As perhaps they have green eyes because all the other cybertronians did too before the war, some changed their colors to fit with their faction while those unaffiliated remained the same

After the Bumblebee movie, I don’t think optic colour has anything to do with factions but with intent. In Transformers Prime it was shown once Megatron felt betrayed by Optimus, his optics turned red. With Bumblebee his turned red after Charlie was almost killed and his anger was thrown into overdrive. I think blue and green are more neutral colours while red can stand for hate. Jet fire still had red eyes though because even when trying to be good his temper would flare up. The other autobots like Ironhide did have tempers but because that was built into their personality and not something anger or spite filled their optics stayed blue.
Well yes I wouldn't also go too deep on thinking lore sense with these movies.. it's a visual thing. Blue and red ofc easily separates for the viewer who is a baddie and whose a good guy. Just like design in general. Green is something that can be kinda on the fence in terms of that and can be morfed into either direction while showing to the viewers the character has nothing to do with the two main-faction.
I feel like the Knights should’ve had white eyes to symbolize their age and how they came before the Great War it was confirmed that they’re way older than Optimus Prime himself as for the other colors like yellow eyes it was rare but I know Rampage had them but the other Constructicons had red eyes so why Devastator has green eyes is strange I can’t really explain that and speaking of green eyes that should’ve been neutral Lockdown really gave that color it’s own identity as for a color that has never been shown in live action before but I guess could be considered Bayverse canon due to some toys is purple it would be really hard categorizing that color but it would probably be the same as yellow very random and rare
The knights (most of them) don't even have visible eyes, they just have black bodies and facemasks without lights on the eyes, i think that the talisman knight's yellow/green eyes show that he's a special knight, the one tasked to hold the talisman and protect it with his own life

This just came to mind on the color spectrum blue and red are on opposite sides, but green is in the middle, so neutral . Maybe green was the original eye color until factions started to appear causing eye color change.

Quintessa has blue eyes and is one of the oldest as she claims responsibility for making optimus, my theory is the different creators made different transformers, and some kind of past fall out between them is why we see a lot of autobots/decepticons but any other kinds are rare as hell.
I find the theory compelling because the knights fled to earth to hide the staff so we know they were on the retreat, and when the autobots retreated from cybertron it was when they had no other choice, so we can assume green eyes were in a similar position.
Personally I think there was another prime like quintessa that created special transformers (green eyes) that were more powerful than normal (devastator, iacon knights, lockdown) and this prime was a threat to quintessa or she just wanted the power idk something like that so she killed them that's why the knights didn't just run away the took the staff so they could rebuild one day.
My theory with lockdown was that he got green eyes to represent faction-less not belonging to neither autobots or Decepticons and just do whatever he wants regardless if it is something good or bad

Maybe it has something to do with when you were born on Cybertron or what faction you served in before the war. Like worker, manager, scholar, etc. that classism is what started the war after all. Megatron was a warrior/worker, and Optimus was a librarian/scientist. The greens could have been like cops or something.

Blue: Peaceful
Purple/pink: Mind controlled/brainwashed
Green: You don’t have a faction or your a bounty hunter etc.
Those eyes are RGB edition they can change whatever colour they want. Those are customizable.
Their eyes are like color changing LED's, and they appear a certain way to stand out to the viewers.

The reason for the green eyes is that they're Combiners, which i recall this info, Combiners have green eyes so this might suggest that Lockdown was a Combiner, or i might be wrong

ive personally formed the headcannon that cybertronians have various different eyes, it just happens that red and red-ish and blue were common somehow, even though i know this is not the case in some things
