    So I've found the written pattern and I decided to do it in a chunky wool instead of a dk 😂 before taking in to consideration the size.. so it's like 3x the size it should be and I'm on my third ball of wool and I'm still not finished the top half.... when will this end. Im mot looking forward to the bobble stitch 😂

    You have saved me. I had another pattern but the directions are almost identical. My instructions started each bobble stitch and FASTENED off on each one. It made no sense to me and was so unwieldy. So much so that I gave up and was making individual bobble stitches and tying them into the tentacle. It was such a mess. Also when I tried to fix it by carrying the yarn instead, I was left with those two stitches on the bobble stitch.........there were no instructions to push the stitch from behind.......and it works marvelously. Now I can carry and push those bobbles up. Thank you so much.

    I am currently working on this and i was wondering would affect the tentacles if i did a chain 41 and sc back down instead of the foundation sc?

    • @offthebeatenhook
      @offthebeatenhook  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it would affect the rest of the tentacles because when you come back down you're making bobbles. I've never made bobbles into a chain before but it sounds tricky!

    So lets just say... that i made one of the tentacles on the body part alittle longer about maybe 10 stiches to long... and its just one of them. I tend to loose track very easily.... Could i possibly just needle stitch it on that one tentacle and not go down all the way to the tip of the tentacle. Do you think it would still turn out right??

  • @rassella
    @rassella หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Very informative! Great job! I have a genuine question though. What is the point of extending the tentacles that way? What is the reason for not doing the 30+40 in one single shot?

    • @offthebeatenhook
      @offthebeatenhook  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Sure, a great question that I get a lot. LOL. I like to integrate realistic features and with the octopus I really wanted the tentacles to be tapered! Doing it the way I designed it will create a tapered tentacle, but you can certainly achieve great tentacles the way you're suggesting as well! :)

    I need a little help with this guy- I’m on round 11 of the base tentacles and can’t make it make sense. Is it possible the * in the written pattern is meant to go before the sc5? It looks like the first bobble on every tentacle starts about 5 stitches away from the beak.

    • @offthebeatenhook
      @offthebeatenhook  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for reaching out! No, you don't want to include those additional 5 stitches everytime... just at the start of Rnd 11. Thanks for double checking!

    • @alisabarker9673
      @alisabarker9673 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You have to do the 5. Then start with the bobble, sc 4 repeat. It took a bit of trial and error, but i think that it works. I wish shed have shown how to do more than just the first tentacle, but the rest is great!

    Thanks for the pattern and for the video tutorial. For me it was a bit big, so I decreased a little, instead of 66, I stayed at 48 stiches, and the same way I decreased the other parts as well. It's not done yet, I'm currently on the last round of the upper part. At the tip of the tentacles do I need to add a chain or I just go on?

    Hi I started this pattern a while ago , why can't the tentacles be done in one long part rather than two setions

    • @offthebeatenhook
      @offthebeatenhook  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! The way it is currently designed is so the tentacles taper towards the tip of them and get wider at the bottom. That's why they're done in 2 rounds. Thanks for clarifying!

    Round 11 of the beak and underside of the ARMS says to make 13 bobbles. I have ripped and reripped my stitches, only to figure out on my calculator that 70/5 = 14. Maybe it's a typo, because I just watched the video again, and you do say 14 bobbles. I absolutely love this octopus and can't wait for it to be complete 😊

    • @offthebeatenhook
      @offthebeatenhook  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello There! yes, safety eyes are designed to not come out. Based on the ones you're using, just be sure you're putting the backs on in the correct way. If you put the backs on backwards, they will come off too easily!

    I don't understand why the tentacles are split up between the 30 first stitches and then 40 foundation single crochet. Why don't you just chain 70 and work it as one piece instead? It seems extra complicated for no reason.

    • @offthebeatenhook
      @offthebeatenhook  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your opinion! Octopus tentacles are tapered (thicker towards the top and thinner towards the tips). I like to add realistic components to my amigurumi animals which is why I designed it that way. Great question!

      @@offthebeatenhook oh! That makes sense. Would it work out the same by doing 30 hdc and 40 sc? I'm just trying to think of the easiest way to do it bc my fsc are either way too tight or way too lose, not consistent at all.
