After about 2cm: stuff the head only and insert the wire into the head. Continue with sc in each stitch. When you reach the end of the wire: dec x 3 (3) Fasten off and close the opening. Glue the eyes (flat base eyes, 4mm) between R3 & R4. 3 sts apart on R4. And you're done. Hope this helps. Happy crocheting! 😊
@@tinapeterson4864 I don't know. I haven't made a snake yet, but I'm planning on using safety eyes (for amigurumi). But I'm not sure if the head is too small for them and/or the wire would be in the way. Alternatively you can try to crochet eyes.
@@LastKatanaGirl the head is tiny. Maybe a inch at its widest. She ends up saying something about it in the materials part of the video. I need to check again so I know what to look for.
This is great, I love it! I can see a few people asking questions about children pulling the wire out. If your children are still that young, this is not for them. Try making it without the wire, and stuffing the body instead. It won’t sit up, but will still be a cute toy. Also leave out the plastic eyes (a child could chew them off) and use black yarn to stitch the eye shapes.
I love this project! My niece is a reptile rescuer and has a couple pet snakes. This will definitely make her smile when I make one for her! Thank you for the video!
Wow! I just found this and I started bingeing all your vids. I watched your bee tut. Please make a video on how you do your color change. Thanks for sharing!
There’s no audio that you’re missing. My guess is that by making the loops at the beginning and end of the wire, it’ll make the wire too big to fit through the gaps. Looks like she’s also using the yarn under technique which minimizes gapping.
I made these recently and if the kid is determined, and I haven’t met one that isn’t yet, they will poke that wire out. It was a fail for me. I thought about wrapping and hot gluing gauze on each end. Not sure if that will work but worth a shot.
Omg thank you! I came across your page on Facebook and super excited to give this a go and many others, skipping through can see your tutorial is very clear ❤️
I saw this video a while back I can't remember when and I meant to share it on Pinterest but I don't think I did. So today I shared it on Pinterest.❤ I hope that helps your channel.
I can help with this! I've used pipe cleaner for smaller snakes (different pattern) and they are fine, but the poses don't hold as well as the wire. You have to fight them a little bit to get them to sit correctly.
Hi Danielle, These guys (they are guys aren't they?) are adorable 😁. They definitely are going to be popular with the adults as well as the kids. I'm going to try to make several so I need to know more about the wire. I saw the 2mm, 12ga, but is it soft or semi-hard? If we keep bending it back and forth it will eventually break if it's hard. Please let me know, Patty 🧓
@@danielleldesigns Hi, thanks I figured it was soft just wanted to make sure. 12gage is awful hard to bend so I think it's because of the aluminum content. I will see if I can find some on Amazon. In the meantime, I'm going to start crocheting snakes!!!! Thanks again, Happily crocheting, Patty 🧓
@@danielleldesigns okay thank you cause my sister would really love to do this with me and I didn't know if you needed to use the same yarn you are using :) thank you though!
Omg I didn't realize the abriviations were in the description and was so confused. Now I see you just have to scroll down a little bit more. Also I found it easier to add the wire then the fluff. This may be because I had to use a thinner wire, but regardless if you are struggling to insert the wire, try removing the fluff, adding the wire, and then adding the fluff back in
Perhaps you can find some pipe cleaners? Or any other thin wire (twist a couple of them together to make a thicker one). Without it the snake will just be a floppy rope.
Do you have the written pattern available? Couldn’t find it in your Etsy or Ravelry shops. My granddaughter would love these but I don’t do well with videos 😊
I started crocheting about two weeks ago, what perfect timing! And my boyfriend just happened to have some aluminum wire in the garage! 😊
The pattern:
R1: 6 sc in MR (6)
R2: [sc 1, inc] x 3 (9)
R3: inc, sc 3, inc, sc 4 (11)
R4: inc x 2, sc 3, inc x 2, sc 4 (15)
R5 - R6: sc 15 (15)
R7: dec x 2, sc 3, dec x 2, sc 4 (11)
R8: dec, sc 3, dec, sc 4 (9)
R9: [sc 1, dec] x 3 (6)
Starting from R10 until the end: sc in each stitch without needing to count the rows.
After about 2cm: stuff the head only and insert the wire into the head.
Continue with sc in each stitch.
When you reach the end of the wire: dec x 3 (3)
Fasten off and close the opening.
Glue the eyes (flat base eyes, 4mm) between R3 & R4. 3 sts apart on R4.
And you're done.

What kind of eyes does she use? It says to glue them on ...

I apologize if this is discussed in the video, but I can’t listen with sound currently. How do you make sure the wire doesn’t poke back out?

Use hot glue
you bend the wire
You can bed the wire around a small bead

Is it possible to use a pipe cleaner as a substitute for the wire?
You can try it, but the pipe cleaner is just too soft for me. 😅

Probably not going to lie

Does it work with the 5mm plush yarn?I would love to make this snake, but I only have that type of yarn left at the moment🥲
U can use whatever yarn u wish it’s just gonna be bigger that’s all , I love big studf

I believe it is soft because it is aluminium wire. I can bend it with my finger easily. Thank you for your kind words.🥰

Me encanta y quiero hacerla pero no sé de qué grosor comprar el alambre. Cuál me aconsejas?
1.5mm or 2mm
Came to checkout the snake and see all the other things to make.
Same
Як гарно😊
Im so excited to try it, just wondering how long it'll take XD
Question: Could I make it without the wire and just stuffing or would it not work?
Tip: If you use no wire, DON'T use stuffing, it will give it a limp, realistic feel!

I can't find this milk yarn anywhere, or the right kind of chenille yarn... what can I substitute for it??
You can find it on AliExpress, Temu, or Shein. Or any size 2 yarn.
Omggg their so cute :> Where can I buy one? But if your not selling them that's fine 😅
If I don't have the wire will the body still become the body of the snake?
It's still the same, but it can't be shaped like mine, and you need to stuff the body very lightly.
So beautiful
Thank you so much
Can I use just simple yarn to make this?
Yes, you can use any yarn to make this. Remember to use the correct crochet hook for your yarn.
@@danielleldesigns okay thank you cause my sister would really love to do this with me and I didn't know if you needed to use the same yarn you are using :) thank you though!

I tried it on chunky chenille yarn as I struggle with the smaller one and gosh its so kyot and fluffy 😭
Does it work without the wire? It always pokes out even if I bend it
I shall keep it as my pet snake! *CUTNESS OVERLOAD*

Yes, you may post this video with the link.😊

Can you do this with out the wire? (I don’t have any🙁)
Use a clothes hanger perhaps?
May not be pliable enough, and the wire is so hard. If it goes through the stitcges, it might scratch @@adventurousme7372
yes but it would be floppy and a little silly
