I'll never understood why anybody would want to live in an HOA. Whether you own the home or not, it's just an expensive rental with dumb rules that you say, ok, I'll gladly pay you every month to tell me I need to be led by a leash, fined for the most idiotic things, and bow down to corrupt HOA members so as to not get kicked out, etc etc. Renting a dilapidated home in a crappy neighborhood seems less demeaning.

Those pirates could have gone on for years. But they had to be a-holes to everyone. This is like 5 year old jumping around yelling "look at me" in a library. Well when you get everyone looking while you're breaking the law of course the hammer is going to come down.

One of my friends lives in an HOA an is considering getting a satellite dish. I told him if he does to paint a middle finger on it if its pointed toward the HOA office.

Easy way is to just take a straight pin and push it through the cable. Cut it short enough to not be seen on either side of the cable and the radio tower is shut down

I don't know where you are but there is a Federal regulation that prevents any HOA from attacking any antenna mast that meet local legal requirements, (No more than 80ft over the structure for HAM, 60 ft over ground for CB and even more restrictions if you are upwind or downwind of a landing pattern at an airport.)

@@aralornwolf3140 Far as my understanding the antenna aspect still isn't illegal esp if it was only a dozen feet tall or less, Broadcasting on the FM band is mostly illegal everywhere without permits and such.

Bullshit in the first story.
-You can't find out the strength of the transmitter by looking at cables and antennas.
-A 5 meter antenna is not for broadcast FM, unless it's height, but you really don't want to have an obvious antenna for pirate radio anyway. An antenna for broadcast FM is just over 70cm long.
-Equipment for transmitting broadcast FM will be two small boxes max and a laptop for pirate stations. Not lots of equipment.
If this story is true, this is a douchebag ham with a pirate station on the side. At the same site. A great way to lose your license. And it's really easy to triangulate radio signals, and that's how pirate stations are taken down. Getting a ham (amateur) license requires a certain amount of intelligence, and I can't believe anyone with a license would be stupid enough to do this, especially in their own home. Also, every ham I've ever met have been super nice people.
Also, very improbable the cops would rat you out.
@Lenia Carter The whole point of ham is to reach as far as possible. It's always been completely international. There are 1.3 million hams in Japan. Twice as many as in the US (and a much smaller population too).
