Recently I was challenging Monarch solo INSANE Colony. However Monarch's DPS is too insufficient to deal three-direction enemies in wave 5. So many many times the harvester destroyed in last 10 enemies, even though I have 4 harvester shields and over 70% harvester HP at beginning of wave 5. Finally I gave up this. But I still think it possible.
So.. I just came back and gave a try on Scorch, thought that with much experience in Monarch solo I can do better than before in Scorch maybe, and that was how this run came true.
Yes, only a single attempt last night, I finished flawless INSANE Colony solo, I didn't even intend to do a flawless run until wave 5.
If you know what will happen in wave 4 and 5, watch carefully and you will see this run is really a lucky one: harvester started to regen when shield was about to break, Scorch from right side delayed its arrival, arc titans eats every flame cores and doomed at once, and an arc titan even did a phase shift self-kill... All these together with my experience on Colony made this challenge come true

My favorite feature of titanfall 2 is the titans giving tactically relevant info mid battle

What a master class in Frontier Defense, it was awesome. I loved how you finished everything with an execution on the Northstar. It was completely worth it.

I learned so much from this video alone. Usually when I play Scorch, I like to just run straight into the enemy and cause mayhem. I know to use line of sight to prevent unnecessary damage at times, but I've never thought to crouch behind a shorter building or to use the electric smoke. I didn't even know sitting in your own e-smoke makes the ai stop shooting at you, and I didn't understand what the purpose of crouching as a titan was, other than t-bagging. I doubt I'll ever become as good, but maybe I can win hard FD more reliably, thanks to this channel.
Applying smoke is the very beginning of understanding how to play FD well
crouching in this vid mostly aim to cover yourself behind the wall to avoid bullets from a lifting northstar
just knowing how to use E-Smoke and avoid taking too much damage is almost already enough to ace Hard FD imo. That and preferbly a fully upgraded Titan of any class to make it a tad easier for yourself (especially Ronin and Legion cuz their final upgrade is super big for them)

This was incredible, and there are definitely a ton of neat tricks for Scorch mains to glean from this.
Mostly unrelated: Is anyone else experiencing a weird "Mega wave" bug in FD Colony right now (March-April 2024)? The last few matches I've done in Hard and even Regular have had standard size wave 1, and then just an absolute fuckton of snipers and mortars on top of what seems to be the regular wave in the following, which seem to be a part of wave 5? Neither waves 2 or 3 have snipers or mortars listed, and it feels _a lot_ like the big finale rather than a beginning wave. As most people in Regular are rather new, and most people in Hard should be playing Regular, my team usually gets fully whomped in like wave 2 and no one wants to engage in chat when I ask there.

Of the two new FD maps, Colony is definitely the one I like more. It’s a gorgeous map with a decent amount of challenge. Very fun! Also I am having trouble playing Relic on hard, I keep getting DC’d. Do you know if that’s an issue with the map that others have been having or if it’s just me?
it's an issue with the map. halfway through wave 4 the coding bugs and the game freezes.

Dino is right, Colony is in a way an incomplete map either, luckily it can be finished without disconnect and looks like a complete map
The most difficult part of the insane to me isn't the difficulty, (though it's certainly a contributing factor as I've never gotten past the second wave,) it's how difficult it is to get into a game. I've been trying to get the Frontier Defense insane patch for weeks now, and it takes hours of queue time to find a single game. Oftentimes I break and just set my search for hard and master difficulties to grind my Titans to G10.9 in the meantime.
Because respawn set the INSANE entry at another place, and players cannot queue INSANE together with MASTER and HARD

Flawless solo and duo(or more) are definitely different, because in private match, harvester is more vulnerable as players nunber increases, you see in the vid even a nuke explosion cannot break the shield, it cannot happen in public match or duo in private match. So duo has its own challenge, that how to cooperate with your teammates to protect vulnerable harvester
GG. I couldn't complete Forward Base Kodai solo on master 😅 I just couldn't kill them fast enough.

I never used scorch in FD because of liked being able to move around the map quickly, but after this I think ima try it
Scorch is a main power of carrying an FD match, so it is worth trying

an alternative strat is to die right when you land before the wave starts to drop a 2nd archer rocket on the ground for double the ammo. Notably, if going for a perfect run this still works because deaths during intermission does not invalidate perfect status.

Bro how do you earn CORE so FAST? Is it different on harder difficulties cause I’ll be turning enemies into slag with scorch on normal and take forever to get core.

Why does he get two shots and an extra health bar?
You get aegis levels in fd the more you level it up the more upgrades you get
They're called Aegis rank upgrades. Leveling up your Titan in Frontier Defense gives you a bunch of crazy upgrades, some of them universal like extra health and shields, others unique to each Titan. In the case of Scorch you get increased thermite damage, a core multiplier that increases based on how much damage you do, three rounds for your launcher, and explosive thermite barrels.
