Everyone talks of Yngwie's lead playing but his rhythm playing is supreme. To my ears he has that similar "swing" and effortlessness that Eddie VH had.
I see what you mean. I think Yngwie came at it with more of a Jazz influence, while Eddie was clearly inspired by 50s rock n roll. Now Your Ships are Burned definitely shows off the jazz-style groove.
@@gravyblue he has a bit ego, let us put it that way too 😂 I mean, he sung the latest album all by himself 😂 and he’s touring without a singer 😂 Although I am a fan of his guitar work I do got tired of him putting himself in the centre all the time
I saw Yngwie at Shepherd’s Bush empire London in 2008 he’s one of those guitarists like him or not definitely made a mark in the world of electric guitar. He also brought the then old Jim Marshall on stage who was in a wheelchair at the time, there’s some video of that on TH-cam 🎸
Awesome- frustrating at first but glad I stayed with it. I find with riffs like this the less I engage my brain with it, the better. That's how I learned the keyboard arpeggio part from Pull Me Under- brain completely off- when I pay attention to what I'm doing it turns into a mess.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! I was like, man I need that riff so happy you mentioned the name of that song in your last video and I was able to find this! Not the usual life long mission to find the song to learn the riff!
Robert, what was the name of that giant song you were jamming to on your life stream yesterday? Stuck in my head haha can’t seem to find the song anywhere??

Agree. Especially his older work. Oops, that might be controversial to say for some fans who also like Yngwie’s modern work 😂
@@chocolatecookie8571 He's unfortunately become a little bit of a parody of himself.

Diary of a Madman - spot on! And the acoustic intro of that song is so unique...
My thoughts exactly!

Yngwie time is awesome, more Yngwie riffs please! Really like when you explain same song portion by portion over several lessons.

This riff always reminds me of the opening riff to “Electric Eye” by Judas Priest, which is one of my all-time favorite metal riffs.
wait you right that's why i learned this so quickly :D
I immediately thought of Diary of a Madman too for that opening bit. 🤘🏼🎸🔥
Such a great lick! I appreciate this one! Great job Robert! 🎸😎🤟
Thx Robert, great lesson. Definitely hear a little Diary in it!!!! 🎸👍
So happy you did this. I was also one of the ones who was like woah that second riff is the shit
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! I was like, man I need that riff so happy you mentioned the name of that song in your last video and I was able to find this! Not the usual life long mission to find the song to learn the riff!
Yngwie was actually trying to play Diary of a Madman and this is how it came out.
Love the melody
Always love to have some Yngwie in the repertoire.
What a cool song lesson ... makes me want to cry ... and practise ... thanks
Such a great album, Mad Dog has a phenomenal solo.
YES! and Razor Eater
The last yngwie album with a proper production.
always the best time..
Thank you for the Ship of Fools Riff lesson!!!
Thank you , you rock!🎸🎸🎸🎸
It is an amazing riff. Thank you, Randy.
You should dissect “Crystal Ball” by Yngwie! Such a killer song and is a bit different from his usual material that everyone talks about
Hey man your hair looks really good
Thanks for the Yngwie licks man!
Very cool! Thanks bro.
WOW VERY NICE GUITAR THANK YOU
Power 🎸💪👍👌 Cheers from Singapore ✌️🎸💪
More is more! Keep it up brother!
Nice sound! Would you make a ToneX review?
Yngwie can write sick riffs foh sure!!
Apreciare the help for us guitar mortals.
Abrazo Mexicano!!!
🤘🏻🇲🇽🤘🏻🇲🇽🤘🏻🇲🇽🤘🏻
I'm subscribed, I always like your videos. Least we can do Rob, you give us so much.🎸🎶✌️👨🎤
Yes!
Amazing video, can you do a video with the riff of lost in hollywood when yngwie was in alkatrazz.
Cool stuff as always...thanks!
Eih Dowlt Laulk Fawlkin DolNuts !!!!🎸
That was bad ass. Love him or hate him .Yngwie made a serious impact on the guitar community.
Great!!!
Reminds me of soilder of fortune riff sick!
Sweet.
Thanks Bro
Loooove this one. Wicked riff! I recently bought an FM3 - can you tell me what amp model you're using in the Axe-FX here? 🎸
@Robert Baker I'd like to know which amp model you used too! (sounds great!).
He might be using a real amp into a two notes DI. I know he's done that alot in the past.
Killer lick
Reminds me of Diary of a Madman A lot
Good stuff
I was going to say Diary of Mad Man... So basically and as we say in the UK "Yngwie is just a BTEC Randy Rhoads" 😁
As good as Rhoads was, and he was very good, his technique and tone were nowhere near Malmsteen's
✨✨ Sweet 🤘✨✨
No equivalent "Smoke on the Water". Not done yet could do something with The Weekend or Olivia.
Teach me more Robert!!°
Nice! In my opinion accents should be a blow down
🤘🏽😈🤘🏽
what effects do you have turned on? Sounds like a phaser?
This riff is very reminiscent of the chorus from The Sentinel by Judas Priest.
Hey, you should do some videos on Judas Priest riffs. KK & Glenn rule!
Thanks for this! He gets a lot of crap lately but sick riffs are sick riffs.
Mostly from dudes who will never be able to play like the master...lol.
Reminds me of Big City Nights by The Scorpions
I'm a Scorpions fan, whereas I appreciate Yngwie shreds but, I'm not a fan of his. I hear it. Definitely has a similar vibe to BCN.🎸🎶✌️
bit off topic, but this lick really makes me think this was the inspiration for Magnolia Eclair (Ky Kiske's Theme) from Guilty Gear Xrd
how about warren demartini video?!
Robert, what was the name of that giant song you were jamming to on your life stream yesterday? Stuck in my head haha can’t seem to find the song anywhere??
It was called Thunder and Lightning :)
@@RobertBakerGuitar awesome! Thanks man, I appreciate the reply!
My favorite riff is from "I Am a Viking"
You gotta do now your ships are burned!
Can we get dokken stop fighting love riff lesson definitely GL's best work
🤘⚡️🤘 🎸🍩
Killer riff! 🙏🏻 bro. #enditbluesy it worked 😃, 🤣😂
it sounds like ozzy- diary of a madman song
Joya
I hope he doesn't demonetize the video or something like that. Lately he's been on a mission of copyright claiming videos just for TALKING about him.
Your awesome. He’s a tool
i wonder if Robert likes donuts while playing the riff
What song is this riff? I know many Yngwie albums (older albums) but this sounds unfamiliair to me
It;s from the song Ship Of Fools
@@RobertBakerGuitar Ship of Fools.. it cannot be more Yngwie than that 😂. I will have a listen to it, thanks Robert! 🙏
ah, the other riff
Careful man, he might copyright strike you.
Too much of a copy of the "Diary of a Madman" riff. Hopefully he credited RR..you can't steal from the Goat.
Yngwie riff makes you better, but you must be better to play the yngwie riff
:( paradox
You cut your hair bro? This is the biggest sell out since the Black Album! 🤣
Yawning
Yes, I'm sure it's beneath your awesome talent, lmaoooo
Hell yeah!!! I’m on the 20% side and have been for a while!!!
