only a year late, But this is by far the best looking crawler I've seen period. I may be abit biased since I love that truck, but the color, the parts, just perfect in every way. New desktop background! thanks!
You created a wonderful model there. I like the color scheme and the cantilever shocks and everything is so harmonious. The only thing that bothers me are the amber colors, rear side markers. .I have a HG P407 myself and for lack of two red 3mm LEDs I had to use the amber-colored ones, because the kit I use only includes four amber LEDs as side markers. .you are doing a great job and I like to look over your shoulders. LG, Udo from Berlin / Germany
Agree, leaf springs all the way. Brilliant job with the upgrades. You nailed the wooden steps 2.37 ~2.52... Excellent driving. I remember this Hi-Lux being built to the production Line that i looked after in the early '80's, in Durban South Africa. The best 4x4 for its price.
Watched a handful of vids and had to subscribe. Enjoy the heck outta watching you tearing up more than one hobby. I thought I was bad for having multiple "toys," throwing on mods, and building. Good to see a girl that gets so involved! Great info too, thanx!
You could get a fanny pack, or some people call it a hip pouch to keep a few tools on your person and that way you won't have to go back to the pit. You can have a few of the most common tools in a very small bag that is only on your hip and won't make you hot in the heat, especially if you are in a endurance competition, or are out on the trail. Great build.
A cheap resolve for the wheel wells is duct tape they make actual lexan ones but I never used those. Love the realistic tire conformation to the stairs.
Hey, I got a solution for the problem of seeing through the wheel wheel wells. To fix it, I manufactured a wheel well cover with aluminum sheet in a truck I built, and hardened it with epoxy hardener to help strengthen it and help stave off rust and, sprayed it flat black, then attached it to the body with strong loop and hook straps, a really strong one and it worked perfectly.
RC4WD has beadlock wheels that will move your tires in so it will be a class 1. And G Made has a set they do the same thing and they are heavy so they will help it to be more planted as well.
I wouldn't worry about hiding the frame rails in the rear of the truck. As for tire coverage, just make some fender flairs. It is a good looking truck and though a bit stiff does seem to handle well.
Awsome build...I can't believe I actually liked the leaf springs....awsome watching it go down the spiral steps...it handles very scale! RC U LATER RC GIRL.
I love the scale 5 gallon bucket. I'm a nitro buggy or truggy type myself, I love the scream and the speed. But I've always thought Axial makes some real cool stuff. Your Toyota pickup is vary cool. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I can't wait for you next video.
Yeah RC girl Love your rig looks awesome, I have the marlin crawler lots of fun to drive. Yeah the grubs screws for the body first thing I did. Appreciate you sharing. I enjoy your videos a lot from Manchester Michigan. Have a great day
Great job! The leafs look scale, but as you said, you need to drive accordingly, as they can't compete with 4 links. Miss Dante supervising the outdoor shots. Hope he's doing well.
RC Gril nice driving. And with the setup you have on the backend of your Toyota and being able to see straight through from wheel to wheel' I it was me I would cut off the hole floor of the bed and drop it right down to the frame and then make new bed walls. This way you can't see through and under the truck bed because this mod gives you a true full drop bedand that is going to be all the more scale and then later on if you cut out your tailgate to make it open and close now your bed floor is flush the tailgate when it is down. Your Toyota looks very well done and given better outside. Love the video.
Thank you for a nice video as always! Even if the leaf spring mean less articulation, I think the super scale trail truck owner will not care so much about it, super scale trail trucking are not about reaching a finishing line first, "the journey is the goal", and they will just select a trail that the truck can handle. It made the truck look good and I am sure they are durable, nice choice. About the inner fenders, you can mould them yourself, using plastic from emty plastic bottles for instance. Make a mould from wood or clay, place the plastic sheet on it heating it with hot air gun, and forming it with your hands using gloves. You can fasten the innerfender to the body or the chassis, whatever is most practical of look the best, and after painting it will add much to a scale look and keep much of the dirt away from the interior. Good luck if you want to give it a try. Here are a few videos to get you started: th-cam.com/video/Kz6h_3oRpWg/w-d-xo.html , th-cam.com/video/YHDXowvuFQo/w-d-xo.html . Cheers.
Great video! thanks for sharing. I wish that Toyota had really offered an extended cab/crew cab when I bought my 1982 SR5 new, but they did not. Looks pretty cool. Lighting and accessories add a lot. You need an RC Girl in the drivers seat to complete the look!
nice!!!!! i've been thinking about this kit for awhile and since i have 3 scx10 ii's i think i might just 'have to' convert one;) thanx Rc Girl, the truck looks fantastic by the way!
Use Oleo Tubs or Cool Whip Tubs, some sort of Plastic bowl (Tupperware perhaps). Find ones that are the radius of the well wells, and cut and mod them to fit. add paint or truck bed liner and roll.
The leafs make the truck look and drive like a full scale truck. I also think it'll make you a better driver because you have to lean to drive with more finesse.
Good job on your conversion, it looks very realistic. And you crawl very well :) What I'd like to see though, which I've not seen much of because obviously you don't use it while crawling, is sway-bars / anti-roll bars. You know trucks aren't only for crawling, there are beach races and open road races where 4x4 vehicles go pretty fast, like in the movie The Goonies (from 1984) where you can see this annual beach truck race at the beginning of the film. I'd really like to see you drive your 4x4 vehicles not only crawling in heavy terrain, but also experiment some on gravel roads at a little more speed, like turning on gravel, perhaps taking smaller jumps, things that challenge the stability and maneuverability of the car.
Grate looking truck ! You can search for inner venders for scx 10 on eBay or wish you just cut them to fit. Once again grate looking truck very scale nice colour as well
I just got iner fenders off Amazon for my scx10 ii and they will cover all what you want to cover. Could get some one to 3d print them or get crafty and make them out of plastic or what ever... and fender flairs will bring ur fender out which if it's the same as real vehicles legally should work I think... i don't know rc comps though
Just finished my LC70 following your instructions from your blue wrangler video. It's dark grey. Now i want to get this body and do it yellow like the pizza planet truck in toy story 😂
Love the color! Let me ask now it’s all said and done and the amount of work and money you’ve put into it... looking back would you have rather gotten the RC4WD kit and built a new rig or would you convert a scx10 again?
Good question. Why take a 4-linked rig and leaf it? You're literally going backwards in performance and technology. Why take an RC4WD TF2 rig a 4-link it?....if you're going to do that...why not just buy a "plastic" rig that's linked already. Really...the best answer is it just a hobby , right?! Have fun.
I like the 5 gallon bucket, but spent the whole video trying to figure out how I'd get my bucket off to use it without pulling the wire handle off the bucket each time. Maybe strap it in the bed with a scale bungee? Looks cool
So, the undercarriage of your truck is what is left of the old SCX10, right? The axles, transmission and all. I just, mostly, finished an RC4WD TF2, and just took it out for its initial run, first truck with leaf springs. Pretty different, but the truck is very capable as well. I like it a lot. Great video, keep them coming along.
Matte finish on the shell, is that painted on the outside or is it a matte overspray? Been wanting to do that with my Kraton. Im still on the fence about entering the crawler world. Tempted though.
I watched with interest. Because if I'm correct, you added leaf springs. And I just bought a toyota w leaf spring on purpose because it was completely scale. I have a spring over shock dedicated crawler. But I enjoyed your video very much and regardless that it doesnt articulate as well, its great. Also, maybe you know about REVOLVER AND Z BOX Accessories for leaf spring articulation. Thanks for fun and informative video.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊 .....by the way...took your advice and bought the same 5 gallon bucket....only blue. Love it.
Looks GREAT Hayley!! Almost makes me want to try Leaf Springs! 😉 The Grub Screw idea does work. Some think that Scale Shocks are better.... Don't know why! Actual Oil Shocks seemed to give your Rig more stability. Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Hello RC Girl! I've been watching your channel more and more lately and must say, I like your content, your projects, and your style. So I just subscribed, to better keep up with what's going on. I am relatively new to RC, but got hooked real quick and it has become one of my main passions. The other one is music and my guitars. So naturally I couldn't help but notice a guitar on the wall in just about every one of your videos. Have you considered maybe including a musical intro now and then, or playing us out with something you're working on at the moment? Thanks for all the nice projects, insight, great infos and tips!
Hey, great content! I am new to RC, I love your detailed look into your builds. I am curious about this rigs left turning radius, seems very wide compared to right turn. I noticed on the wooden spiral descent. I hav similar issues on my crawlers... How to remedy?
I got a lot of inspiration from the video and I try to make it, but the chassis was discontinued. Since this is South Korea, it is difficult to obtain and it is too expensive such as eBay. Is there any way to get a cheap chassis?
Hi. Im the one who said you’re “cutest gal in RC.” Lol. But I’d advise 3-d print or do a press/stamped plate metal for your stuff to cover under your bed & inner fenders . So “Look on Harley designs” last TH-cam vid ,it has a section in it about all these solutions that might fit your needs. And look up “push rod 3-d” & “Make it RC (company names fir 3-d printed stuff ) for your interior & other accessories . They both have really kool stuff.Hope this helps 😉. Again. Nice job. Tyrs are perfect.
Btw. In the Harley designs vid. ? The are a ready made cad download you can get where you ,or a friend, can 3-d print those fender well cover ups. The rear should be the simplest just by printing something black ,that’s flat .
So freaking dope the way the front wheels matched the spiraled stairs when you backed up and turned the front wheels ...gorgeous set up btw!
I couldn't agree more that the leaf springs give the truck a more scale look; I like the way it moves over the obstacles. Great job!
only a year late, But this is by far the best looking crawler I've seen period. I may be abit biased since I love that truck, but the color, the parts, just perfect in every way. New desktop background! thanks!

Rig look good.
The grub-screw mod is a Trailfinder mod we've been doing from the beginning.
lol I love the little bucket . You are a good host , no high pitch fake tv voice , great vid
looks awesome, especially love the bucket!!!! the turning radius is unreal coming down the incline
One handed driving skill like a Queen Boss. Like the color of that truck. Looks good!
You could get a fanny pack, or some people call it a hip pouch to keep a few tools on your person and that way you won't have to go back to the pit. Im trying to get into the scale side of crawlers. You have some great videos to learn from. Thanks 😊
love the old school paint job. reminds me of the one my oldest brother had in the 80's.
I wouldn't worry about hiding the frame rails in the rear of the truck. As for tire coverage, just make some fender flairs. It is a good looking truck and though a bit stiff does seem to handle well.

An interior would be a good addition to the Mojave pick up, aside from covering the wires, it adds beauty to the tiny truck. .
RC Gril nice driving. Love the build!! Looked great out on the trail! Also, just grabbed a sticker for my tool box! Keep up the great and informational videos.
Thank you!!
heres is a brand of inner fenders for the scx10 II you can get them at rcmart or ebay! It is a good looking truck!
Thank you for a nice video as always!

to me it looks like the problem is not the long wheel base, but the departure angle. If you chop the back at the axel it should solve the problem.
nice!!!!! i've been thinking about this kit for awhile and since i have 3 scx10 ii's i think i might just 'have to' convert one;) thanx Rc Girl, the truck looks fantastic by the way!

Kicking ass and looking good doing it! I ended up fashioning wheel wells out of black gorilla tape for my truck.
The leafs make the truck look and drive like a full scale truck. I also think it'll make you a better driver because you have to lean to drive with more finesse.
Your Truck look like original. I love it.
Profesional job.
Good job on your conversion, it looks very realistic. And you crawl very well :)

Grate looking truck ! You can search for inner venders for scx 10 on eBay or wish you just cut them to fit. Once again grate looking truck very scale nice colour as well
Had to watch the video again I like that truck and how it came out, keep on trailing RCgirl
✌🏼

Just finished my LC70 following your instructions from your blue wrangler video.
It's dark grey. Now i want to get this body and do it yellow like the pizza planet truck in toy story 😂
One of the best looking scale rigs I've ever seen, NICE JOB!!!!
Your leaf spring conversion worked great! Nice flex also.
Wonderful job and the scale look is perfect👍👍👍
Great video! You can get aftermarket fender flairs if you do decide to run C1. Keep doing what your doing ✌🏼
You can get a drop bed or make the bed and for front you can buy inner fenders or diy them
Recently found your channel and subbed. Love your videos, keep them coming!
Love the color! Let me ask now it’s all said and done and the amount of work and money you’ve put into it... looking back would you have rather gotten the RC4WD kit and built a new rig or would you convert a scx10 again?

I like the 5 gallon bucket, but spent the whole video trying to figure out how I'd get my bucket off to use it without pulling the wire handle off the bucket each time. Maybe strap it in the bed with a scale bungee? Looks cool
Haha the handle just slots into holes in the side of the bucket. It's easy to take on and off, but might come loose over time I suppose..
Ugh. So bummed they discontinued this kit! I need leafs for a scale project I'm doing.
The articulation is not limited because of the shocks.
It is limited due to the leaf springs and the loss of the 3/4 links.
That's a cool rear spring setup, looks like it works pretty well.
Tupperware makes incredible wheel wells. There are videos on TH-cam about could be a good option. Ebay has them as well. You 4got Connecticut😢
Great video and the Toyota looks just great! Do you have the camera on the remote control or how do you film and drive at the same time?
Film and drive just holding everything!! I have a dx5 rugged so I was able to drive one handed, but it was not easy!! haha
@@RCGirl That doesn't sound easy but good to know :D maybe I'll try that too :)
There is a video of someone taking plastic lunch meat containers and using the ends. And they painted them black and they looked really good. 👍

Just wondering when you might get some scale stickers to put on the side of my truck.
Pretty cool, looks like it could be in a shot for a movie.
Rc4wd Land Rover 90 wheelarche flares would fit and cover a percentage of your tyre if you did think about going that way.
Great truck RC Girl you are the best, your truck looks so real, I love it
You can add fenders to cover more of the tire and make it class 1 ready
Nice job Haley 🙌
Look and Drives SUPER Stock love the Springs You must be sooo Proud
Is there a room for ur interior upgrade in the future? Scale rc looks even more great with a scale interior
The details of the vehicle look good. Thank you for the good explanation👍👍👍
I use axial drive shaft grubs that have the pin inserted threaded side in
Sooooo in the future more leafspring builds 😋. Looks great and trail too
Have fun with it
Matte finish on the shell, is that painted on the outside or is it a matte overspray? Been wanting to do that with my Kraton. Im still on the fence about entering the crawler world. Tempted though.
Great video series. The leaf spring setup definitely looks more scale. A+
awesome ... wished there was a 60 or 80 series land cruiser body kit
Well it worked out, I think you have done a great job, hopefully you will find an interior,😀
Excellent work RC girl 👍
how much difference did it make to the ground clearance? seems like a cool upgrade to make.
Love it.
Nice video I also got the desire to convert mine!
Just get some of the rubber fender flares to compensate for the tires sticking out!
Great video and shooting , thanks for the ride👍🏼👍🏼👊🏼
Is there any way I can get my honcho to turn more than what it does now? It just doesn’t seem to really have a good steering radius.
Looks GREAT Hayley!! Almost makes me want to try Leaf Springs! 😉 The Grub Screw idea does work.
Some think that Scale Shocks are better.... Don't know why! Actual Oil Shocks seemed to give your Rig more stability.
Carmine ✈🚂🚙
I saw u also still have the cantilever installed. Will the leaf spring alone work if the shove removed? Need to lower my lc70 rearbed
Would this leaf kit work on an enduro? Seems like most every part can be used on both trucks if it’s ment for one or the other
Looks really good. How did you get the axles to line up with the body correctly?
Instead of shortening axles or finding offset rims what about some fender flares?

a little too bouncy in my opinion. Are you gonna leave it like that or coming back to standard shocks?
Hey, great content! I am new to RC, I love your detailed look into your builds. I am curious about this rigs left turning radius, seems very wide compared to right turn. I noticed on the wooden spiral descent. I hav similar issues on my crawlers... How to remedy?

Great looking 4 door
great review! Love the new body
I love that you did this! Been very interested in doing this myself. Where are you from? Id love to see your rigs on the trails sometime
Very nice looking rig.
Got me really motivated to build one!
Might look at Vanquish slw 1.9 wheels for deeper spacing
Awesome place to crawl! Nice video taken
Not only yes but hell yes.....good job.
Amazing truck! Great engineering 👍
does using fender flares count in scale rules for width?
Yes I believe it does
Will this body fit the a traxxas trx4 defender with cantilever kit thanks
