Sounds like a track penned by Paul McCartney but never released by the Beatles. And that is about the highest compliment I could ever give. Love it!!!!!!
So true. I thought that too. I am def covering this. I honestly fell deeply in love with this one. If we were not in the era of excess and today instead of July 27, 2023 it was July 27, 1966, we would be talking about a song of the time worthy of someone of the stature of one Paul McCartney, and many others. I don't know if you guys are going to read this, but I give you my sincere congratulations, especially to Allison for writing such a work of art that surely won't be heard as much as it should. Josh... what else can be said about him. For me, also an artist who would have marked an era in another bygone time. Thanks for this song. Thank you for your inspiration and courage to launch yourself to do what you love and again my most sincere congratulations on your success.
Allison and Josh duets are simply the best. There is great chemistry and respect between them, and it shows in the quality of the music. Allison is well on her way to being a great song writer.
You know a song is either fresh (or really really old ) when the lyricist has to scroll the iphone to the last verse during the chorus. It is nice to hear something so new that doesn't sound new because it is so well put together that it sounds familiar on the first listen.
This song makes me cry or tear up (depending how my MDD is) thinking about my support dog who passed suddenly 2 years ago and the next day the police came and took me to the hospital for medical care. I still have a hard time thinking about her or looking at any pics of her. A depressing but pretty song none the less.
I will hold off on Josh's prodidious talent for a moment and mention that Allison is as fresh and beautiful a delight as I have ever seen in a young woman.
Man, that little inflection that Allison does on "remind me" at around 2:51 kills me every time. Amazing stuff guys; please keep making music - the world needs it.
"Allison has a pleasant demeanor and a beautiful voice..." That's like saying Hitler was a naughty boy. She has way more than a pleasant demeanor .....
I am obsessed with this song!! I heard it for the first time last week. After to listenings I found myself singing in my brain when I woke up the next day. I thought, "Wait, what is this song I have in my head right now. Then I realized it was Lucy by Allison and Josh!! I just wrote down the lyrics and learned the chords by listening and watching Josh!! Someone mentioned that this could be a McCartney song from way back. I agree!! It reminds me of his follow-up to a Blackbird kind of song called "Jenny Wren" which was years later. Jenny Wren is much more difficult to play but feels similar. Either way, I love this catchy beautiful love song to one of my favorite things on the planet, the family cat!! Thank you Josh & Allison. By the Allison has become my favorite female singer, especially teamed up with Joshua Lee Turner. A match made in Heaven on Earth musically and vocally!
So simple, pure, timeless and infinitely listenable! Lyrically and melodically, it brings to mind early Beatles and is as captivating and instantly classic as 'Time in a Bottle'. Josh's cleaverly composed and interwoven harmonies undergird Allison's feather-light lead, blending elegantly into aural perfection! Thank you both so much for sharing your beautiful gifts! I'm so glad that music like this is being reintroduced and is gaining new popularity and markets. It's good medicine that we all need right now.
How beautiful! I wish I could like this multiple times. What lovely harmonies, paired with a great melody and mellow accompaniment. And that key change/mode shift? Perfectly unexpected. I gotta listen again and figure out what's going on there. 10/10 songwriting, arrangement, and performance. 10/10 production that captures it so well we can all enjoy it for years to come.
@@JacobCryptoBury Thanks for the recommendation! Can't say I liked it as well as I like this song, but they sure have some nice guitar playing in there!
Listening with a good set of headphones and the next thing I know, tears running down my cheeks. Are you kidding me!? The chord arrangement, Alison, Alison vocal!!, Josh's guitar and harmony and great lyrics!! Thankyou!!!
It feels like this is a video from 1964 but it hs been uploaded a few minutes ago. I honestly have difficulties believing in it. This is just amazing...
My daughter's name is Lucy. She's 5, and loves music. We always play new tunes on her way to school in the mornings. I played this for her today and at first she said....."Dad, it's going to make me fall asleep (haha)", but she quickly was captured and when the chorus hit she was absolutely beaming and begged me to play it again. Thank you both. Fabulous!!
My best friend recently lost her kitty and after hearing this song live last night and learning that it's a love song for a cat I simply lost it. I was crying from the front row and thinking of my sweet friend missing her baby. This song is perfection 💙✨️😭
This is insanely beautiful, it would make Paul McCartney weep and wish he'd written it. It's not often I stop what I'm doing, and forget what I'm doing the first time I hear a song, but this did it. I thought this must, surely be a famous song from back years ago, maybe Dolly Parton? But you guys wrote this? Wow. Please play this when you come to Leeds this month :)
This is an instant classic. Harmonies, guitar playing, lyrics, melody. Most songs take a few listens before I really like them. This took a couple bars. I'm stunned at both of your talents.
An unpretentious, tender and melodic expression of a mother's undying love. Lucy is going to love it one day! I want to put it on my Spotify Indy song list, ASAP!
Absolutely wonderful, thank you so much for this, for your music and who all of you guys are. Hope we'll have the honor to see you guys play in Paris someday !
This is just superb entertainment! Allison has an exquisite voice, and seems a real sweetheart. The harmony by Josh blends so well, and his guitar work is beyond description. Two talented artists......how totally refreshing & so very rare.
I am an atheist. But sometimes, I feel there might be something like a supreme being with honorable intentions who, on rare occasions, gives us wonderful things like this. I still don’t know if there is a God, but whomever You are, well, bless You.
One take wonders - every time. Such amazing talent in just two individuals. 1 + 1 = a heck of a lot more than just 2 ! Thank you guys for just being yourselves. This from an old bloke with 8 decades behind him. "Young people today..." Bah! Humbug!!
I thought it was a beautiful classical song that I missed for years, and I was about to search the original on TH-cam and all the availables covers off it, and I read that it's your composure. You are geniuses !
My favorite (so far) of all the wonderful music the two of you make (individually and together). The lyrics are touching, the tune takes a fairly standard country opening and turns it into something unexpectedly wonderful, great lead solo break, and the harmonies and vocal blending are just great. I've got this on repeat. Thank you!
"FLOW". . . Beautiful Flow~ can't get any better~ LOVE it! THANK YOU so Very Much for Sharing your talents with us~ Many Blessings to you & All who are watching~ 💟
No need to try for a better cut than this one. These two voices just fit perfectly and the guitars were exactly so fine, I have been watching Josh since he was in high school and his work on this is so perfect, I always know it will be but it is always such a treat, not too much, not too sparce, shows knowing when putting in more notes isn't a sign of skill but knowing when to meld back into the next verse is.
THE BYGONES ARE GOING ON TOUR! TICKETS: thebygonesband.com/Shows
Sounds like a track penned by Paul McCartney but never released by the Beatles.
And that is about the highest compliment I could ever give. Love it!!!!!!
Now that you mention it...it does sound like a a long lost classic. Allison obviously has some serious songwriting chops.
You’ve hit the nail on the head!!
Reminds me of The Strokes ‘call it fate call it karma’

absolutely so - Bravo.
Her voice is exquisite. And Josh, in addition to being a great player and lead vocalist, is a great harmony singer.
I have been searching for the right word. You nailed it. Thank you.
Yes, her voice is georgeous ... beauty floating on air
Never disappointed to hear you guys together. Just makes me be still and just listen. Thank you
So wonderful and inspiring , I also do music with not this much Subscribers, if you have some free time ,check it out
Affects me the same way.
I have muscle jerks that are greatly decreased when I listen to Joshturnerguitar on the youtube .
Me too. The combination is so smooth and sweet.
Allison and Josh duets are simply the best. There is great chemistry and respect between them, and it shows in the quality of the music. Allison is well on her way to being a great song writer.
Such a beautiful song. ❤ I’m so so so sorry for your loss. She must have been a wonderful cat for this exquisite tribute. 😔
Does anyone love these guys like I do? I cant get enough. Such a great personal song
Josh, in every song you play I look forward to your solos.

So, is Lucy your cat? I used to have a dog named Lucy and it just feels like it's about an animal. I love this song so much. Thank you for writing it!
I went to their concert recently and they said this song is about a cat!
Can confirm they introduced it as being a love song to Allison's cat!
Thank you very much for solving this mysterie
What a god given talent ❤
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. The subject matter, the vocals, harmonies, instrumentation, humor...it fits my soul.
I will hold off on Josh's prodidious talent for a moment and mention that Allison is as fresh and beautiful a delight as I have ever seen in a young woman.
Keep singing with her forever. So incredibly beautiful. You are a perfect match! The harmony was perfection at its best. I love you two.
It’s the harmony you’re right - Josh totally nailed it. Perfect complement to Allison's sweet and true lead vocal. Don and Phil would love this.
Man, that little inflection that Allison does on "remind me" at around 2:51 kills me every time. Amazing stuff guys; please keep making music - the world needs it.
Not gonna lie, this might be my favorite song in last 10 years. What a gem!
I really love the progressions and movement both in bass and harmonies
Allison has a pleasant demeanor and a beautiful voice. Thanks for posting.
"Allison has a pleasant demeanor and a beautiful voice..." That's like saying Hitler was a naughty boy. She has way more than a pleasant demeanor .....
Beautiful music that takes us away from our troubled times.
I can't imagine two voices sounding better together.

Patsy cline meets Norah Jones. Beautiful voices, great writing, Josh slaying on guitar.

Lucy (in the sky with diamond )💎
Two extremely talented people! Magical sound when they’re together!
This is a masterpiece.

Man, I really loved that. So sweet, so old-fashioned and simple. Beautiful voices; beautiful melody; beautiful guitar solo. Home run.
I guess Josh could collaborate with every musician and help to make him/her (even) better. Stunning.
My daughter's name is Lucy. She's 5, and loves music. We always play new tunes on her way to school in the mornings. Dear Allison I just realized it was your original one - AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING.
Thanks God we have you, dear beautiful / talented young lady.
Strong Gillian Welch vibes. Most excellent.
Wow, I was in such a trance that I dropped my phone. This song is pure soothing.
My best friend recently lost her kitty and after hearing this song live last night and learning that it's a love song for a cat I simply lost it. I was crying from the front row and thinking of my sweet friend missing her baby. This song is perfection 💙✨️😭
A song about your cat!!! Sweet song sweet harmonies.

" Absolument Génial ! " It's a diamond in the sky ! It would be nice to show a picture of this cat "Lucy" !
Josh: an old favorite. Allison: a new favorite
This is an instant classic. Harmonies, guitar playing, lyrics, melody. Most songs take a few listens before I really like them. This took a couple bars. I'm stunned at both of your talents.
100% agree.
His father was a mudder. His mother was a mudder. That song is a lock!
Amazing vocal harmonies.
found this gem thanks to an instagram ad for the demo app

This song just hits home simply beautiful. The first time I heard Lucy it reminded me of my childhood like a favorite lullaby.
These harmonies of the solo killed me. Beautiful.
Simply lovely and the harmony of your voices gorgeous!
Thank you sooo much for sharing!
Wow, what a beautiful song Allison wrote, and with Josh such a sweet duet!
This is just superb entertainment! Allison has an exquisite voice, and seems a real sweetheart. The harmony by Josh blends so well, and his guitar work is beyond description. Two talented artists......how totally refreshing & so very rare.

Yes a god given talent ! No other way to explain this 😊
I love the line "our clocks keep different times" Great tune that sounds like it's been in my head forever.
I sure do love this song! Sweet lyrics, lovely melody, beautiful harmony! Perfection!
Allison is a wonderful girl and a great singer. She is very, very, very...everything!!

1 + 1 = a heck of a lot more than just 2 !
Thank you guys for just being yourselves.
This from an old bloke with 8 decades behind him.
"Young people today..."
Bah! Humbug!!
For my 2 cents this is the one they’ll still be playing fifty years from now.
You know the harmony is special when it even eclipses Josh's beautiful instrumentals
Morning guys, can't wait for the album to drop!
Wait is Lucy a cat? That's how I'm hearing it now. I still come back to this one often. Great song!
Captivating...listening again and again. Im sorry i missed the news about the tour...sold out, not suprised.
This is one of the most charming songs i have ever heard!
I thought it was a beautiful classical song that I missed for years, and I was about to search the original on TH-cam and all the availables covers off it, and I read that it's your composure. You are geniuses !
I now always get Johnny & June or Dolly & Chet vibes from you 2 together.
Yo... love what the two of you do on your own, as well as with other collabs... but the exact pairing of you two together Just. Makes. Sense.
Why can't I upvote this lovely song each time I play it ?
Life can be very unfair.
Beautiful. This one reminds me of the Milk Carton Kids. Great playing and singing.
Better than “nice”. Lovely, just lovely. Thanks! If I can catch you in Bath, I surely will. Thanks again.
Them again. Beautiful again.
Excellent composition 👏👏👏
Wow. Where'd that dust storm come from? All getting into my eyes..... damn.
Lovely to see these two performing together. 😊

Is there anything these kids can’t do to perfection?
Beautiful song, theme and oh that solo!
Lovely, sounds like something the Everly Brothers might have sung. Keep up the good work and thanks.

What a wonder. Music and charm in full startling measure. Precise and pure. The solo jaw-droppingly exact.
What a great way to end the evening
your styles compliment each other nicely. there is a seamless flow to the music and vocals. Looking forward to the studio release on 7/1.
Wow. This melody blend is perfection
this just became one of my favorite songs of all time. thank you for making me want to cry:
My kind of music, my kind of simple production. You are my two favorites. And, yes, Allison you are the sun that sneaks through my door.
You both together render this song with such sweetness.
Nothing I love more than turning up the volume on a new video on a Friday from Josh.
I’ve been obsessed with this song, it is truly beautiful, thank you for this
Damn that was absolutely beautiful, thank you.
Had a great time at the show in Bakersfield with my friend Theresa. I really love the beautiful lyrics in the new songs. People can relate.
Thank you for another gift offered up to the ether!
Even though I don't really understand this song, I just like it.

I'm picturing Lucy as a cat. You can't change my mind now.
Love the song 😘👌
This is high fidelity. Beautiful. I am honestly just about floored.
Real music, can heal those world.
