I took an 1100 across the country loaded and plus another person. The bike is so balanced that you cannot feel the weight even when you stopped. It was awesome, I cannot even imagine the new bikes.
It does everything well except hold two helmets in the trunk like the pre 2018s. I know everyone loves the DCT, but to me the fun is running through the gears on twisty mountain roads. Other than that I love the slimmed down version since my wife rarely rides with me. The addition of a 6 speed gearbox, electronic windscreen, the added confidence from traction control, and swapping out those buttons for a jog dial is almost enough for me to consider it. Personally, I'll keep my 2014 and hopefully put Traxxion Dynamics with Helibars installed sooner than later.
So what you're saying is that, as Fire-Driven Dandy Horses go, the Goldwing is pretty good? Had no idea you were back on the TH-cam, Chris, but your video was top of the list when I happened to search for the new Goldwing - nice work! Hope all is well in the soggy nations.
That’s exactly what I thought about the Indian RM except I thought the Indian was better. Best touring bike I’ve ever ridden and the Honda comes in a slight second .The RM is an UNREAL bike... and I ride an st1300
Maybe the setup on the RM I rode just didn't fit me, but I didn't like it. I hated the mini apes - I had to sit way up on the saddle to reach the bars and I thought I was in 2nd when it was 1st - the low revving Vtwin felt like I would stall it taking off from a stop. Still, there is no denying the classic American style. Now that the 2020 116 Thunderstruck is out ...man that RM Darkhorse is a sure winner, but $35k, really?

The kind of bike I could ride sidesaddle whilst listening to orchestral music on the stereo and rolling a joint with my free hand.
michael johnson DCT Tour model, the usb is in the cubby up front. You can purchase another USB port for the left saddle bag. On the the other models they may be in different places.
He has a Swiss highway sticker.. That's another 40 bucks ;-) How does she do with shifting in the hairpin curves going uphill? Doesn't loose power for a split second right in the corner as it shifts right!?
its a nice bike but my opinion still not worth trading my 2010 wing . my wing has the storage i need on it with out the need to haul a trl just to take a nice 2 week trip . new bike with 2 ppl on trip will be a lot more difficult on packing with out use of a trl . that my major issue with it
Kevin Munger depends on how you pack. I find the passenger seat to be a bit small. If Honda would mount the top case a few inches back it would be a bit more roomier. In regards to the storage of the top case, I agree that it needs to be slightly wider, taller and for the lid to not slope down as it does. That way 2 full face helmets can fit with ease and I have an issue with my helmet where I have to slam the cover shut to latch. The visor lever is just a tad too tall, but gives enough to latch.
Most of the Harley loving guys hate this bike cause they know it's better. No doubt! I was going from Grants Pass. Or. to Roseburg. Some Harleys guys passed me on a straight away and I was like, Oh no you didn't...so I hung with them until we started hitting the curves and hills. I ended up leaving them behind cause they slowed down so much in corners. The thing they probably never realized...I was in cruise control most of the time. The only time a Harley gets by or away from me...is when I let 'em.
Nice bike but I’ve brought bmw k1600 grand America full spec and still saved around £9000 compaird to buying the wing also I get more storage and reliable fuel range on the bmw.
Andrew Marlow im on my 2nd Concours 14 they are bullet proof bikes, my 08 was bike of the year when it came out, i have a 2018 bought left over zero miles on it.
I hate the Honda GL1800 because of the seat and the uncomfortable seating position from 2001 to 2019 and the stupid flat engine was better in the form of V futile design
Honda was correct in their market response, the issue is not the price but the styling. I’ve been riding for years & gone through several bikes, when younger you’re not looking for & not the demo for touring. Fast, cool looking bikes at a reasonable price point drive the buy, you don’t ride two up often, trips are shorter & your willing to bungee a change of pants when needed. As a touring rider(currently on my 2nd Harley touring) Honda is trying to capture touring riders & while I personally think the Goldwing is a great “practical” choice, it lacks a sole & has no personality. Keep in mind, in the US at least, bikes are 2nd or 3rd vehicle options & core buyers purchase with disposable income. I like the BMW K 1600 even more for its practicality & power but it unfortunately looks like a scooter in the front. Hard to spend that kind of $ for something that is embarrassing to roll up in when there are so many better looking options. Maybe when I’m older, like 60+ I will change
Mike so are u saying this bike looks like a scooter in the front like the bmw?? If so, u r def the first person I have heard say that. And for a bike that has “no personality” as you say, it sure does have people standing around it asking questions and checking it out every time I see one. Hopefully its not a shy bike with its non personality having self 🥰😂
And higher upkeep costs. The bill at a BMW dealership - even for a basic service - is going to be a lot higher than that of a Honda. Facts. But, yeah, the K 1600 is a fantastic and fun platform.
I took an 1100 across the country loaded and plus another person. The bike is so balanced that you cannot feel the weight even when you stopped. It was awesome, I cannot even imagine the new bikes.
Art Runningbear I have the 2018 DCT Tour and it’s feel is unbelievably lite.

In the air bag dct, the USB port is in the trunk. All other models, it’s in the cubby up front.
Your singing depressed me very much 😂😂😂. Great review man.
Would love to see you review the BMW R1200 RT. Only 600 pounds wet.
I was looking at the new BMW R1250 RT. It is pretty amazing and not as big as the BMW K or Honda GW. I don't know, they are all pretty nice
So what you're saying is that, as Fire-Driven Dandy Horses go, the Goldwing is pretty good? Had no idea you were back on the TH-cam, Chris, but your video was top of the list when I happened to search for the new Goldwing - nice work! Hope all is well in the soggy nations.
Trying to get by.

Honda is the king of the motorcycle world
On the DCT model the single USB port is located in the rear trunk. On the manual model the port is in the small cubby hole near the fuel filler flap.
michael johnson DCT Tour model, the usb is in the cubby up front. You can purchase another USB port for the left saddle bag. On the the other models they may be in different places.
All I see is automatic. Do they still make the standard?
Oh yeah. But they're marketing the DCT to the generation with the money to buy it, and it's working.
Fuck standard playa
I think you'll find the USB port inside the tank glovebox.
He has a Swiss highway sticker.. That's another 40 bucks ;-)
How does she do with shifting in the hairpin curves going uphill? Doesn't loose power for a split second right in the corner as it shifts right!?
Correct. No problems at all. And, yeah, that Swiss vignette is pricey but on the plus side it means being able to ride in Switzerland!
i agree with u... this bike is stunning
its a nice bike but my opinion still not worth trading my 2010 wing . my wing has the storage i need on it with out the need to haul a trl just to take a nice 2 week trip . new bike with 2 ppl on trip will be a lot more difficult on packing with out use of a trl . that my major issue with it

Its not the motorcycle the previous one was.
Vegas WBMC maybe the passenger seat isn’t a bit small but rather your girls ass is a bit big? 🤷🏼♀️. Idk, just an observation??
Japan is the world emperor of technology
Snap ! I started riding before the wing.
Yeah it's expensive, but at least you getting 30,000 dollars worth of motorcycle instead of 30,000 worth of name...
Impotent ManChild very well said!!!
2019 selling for 24000

What about mileage

Andrew Marlow im on my 2nd Concours 14 they are bullet proof bikes, my 08 was bike of the year when it came out, i have a 2018 bought left over zero miles on it.
Gold Wing? Never herd of it
I hate the Honda GL1800 because of the seat and the uncomfortable seating position from 2001 to 2019 and the stupid flat engine was better in the form of V futile design
i agree always buy used new bokes depreciate fast
Le son est vraiment mauvais...
I like airplanes!
It’s called an Oldwing.
so spensive
The greatest bike in the world doesn't have a GPS that sucks - therefore, this is not the greatest bike in the world.
It does have a GPS.
RGT - I never said it did not have a GPS. 🙄
It was just a tribute

You definitely will change. You’ll roll up in whatever you like a not give a shit about what anyone else thinks. You should be doing that now!
One question what drugs are you on this week and you need to spread them around
😘❤🌷🚴🏍
YOU HAVEN’T RIDDEN A BMW 1600 B ☝️ YOU’LL CHANGE YOUR OPINION !
I have ridden a BMW K 1600 B. Loved it: themotorcycleobsession.com/2018/02/16/riding-the-blue-ridge-parkway-on-a-bmw-k-1600-b/
Would rather have a Harley Davidson, CVO.
Jerry BISBO
You’ll be paying a shit ton more money for a CVO.💰
I wouldn't drive a automatic bike...
Biased ?
Don't wanna here about the freakin' DCT!!!
The bmw k1600 is faster, handles better, longer range, much greater luggage capacity.. not opinion, all facts
And higher upkeep costs. The bill at a BMW dealership - even for a basic service - is going to be a lot higher than that of a Honda. Facts.
But, yeah, the K 1600 is a fantastic and fun platform.
Who is buying this crap
Gay and I am not talking about the motorcycle.
I'm thinking it takes one to know one? Don't hate us cause you anus...
cattleNhay 😂😂😂😂😂🥰
Ugly grandpa's bike
So if a bike has an automatic transmission with reverse and is as smooth as a car, is it still a motorcycle? LOL
