Just watched latest interview with show-runners. It's so obvious that they just dont care. They laugh, casually comment about LoTR universe as it is some brazil drama. It reminds me the seriousness of Peter Jackson's interviews, when it was clearly he put his soul and hard-work in the movies. When your directors and producers dont give a damn, the show will reflect it and look poorly too.
They're very good at BSing a corporate board room though apparently, not much else to explain why they or anyone else involved with season 1 didn't get fired for abysmal ratings and barely 1/3 of the opening audience making it to the end. Or, Amazon doesn't care how much money they burn in their pursuit of 'film prestige'.
This video made me actually look up why the elves were fading, and it turns out they were just too magical for their own bodies. Also, they were originally meant to just make Middle Earth all nice for the humans and then go away.
It hurts my brain to see Durin sr and jr go from pretty decent writing to “I hate you you’re a fascist! -Then you’re no longer my son!” levels of stupid apocalyptic conflict within a couple of seconds.

Thank you for giving voice to the heartbreaking story of the TCBS that, inter alia, conveys the calibre of those four young men, of which only two would "...survive the bombs and bullets... " and one go on to create the monumental source material for the matter at hand. I will leave it to people better than I to posit if the creators of ROP are Tolkien's betters, his equals or lessers. What I will say, or more accurately, lament about their current works is that given the great privilege and opportunity to present a part of aforesaid source material and to do so with seemingly limitless resources, what they have thus far given the world is in every way possible the antithesis of Tolkien's works not fit to be connected with that name. ROP is such a departure from the source material, one wonders if it had been produced without acquiring the rights, would a claim for breach of copyright succeed?
I love this guy. I would love to have him with me at all times to speak to my enemies for me. Also, anyone else watching this show just to know why all this shit is being talked on it? 😂 I feel like this is the only method that makes this show bearable. Well, that and a lobotomy.
5:23 the thing that I find the most amusing is that the queen lost her vision from a few sparks hitting her face from a burning timber, but the pyroclastic flow didn’t harm anyone seriously. The deceased seem to have been knocked over by collapsing buildings or were already slain. Couldn’t you even have had Galadriel scream turn around cover your face and drop to the ground so that when the ash cloud rolls over them, they are taking cover, but the queen looks in horror at the volcano and is blinded. I guess you could argue that they’re at the edge they’re they’re barely at the outside edge of the effective range. It wasn’t as deadly.
Very educational about the importance of a Tolkien letter to his friends during WW1. Adds a LOT to the overall analysis and makes me despise Amazon and its show-runners even more. They just took a shit for the sake of money grabbing and "modern audiences"
I have read first draft fan fiction that is better and more logically consistent than this bullshit show. I can't believe I see clips from this show with comments saying "I don't understand why this show gets so much hate" If anyone says that I have to assume they have never actually watched it but at best have it playing in the background while they fuck off on their phone or something.
Edit: I just got to the part of the video where you say exactly this. What's incredible about Galadriel's "redemption" is that all of her actions should lead to the opposite - she nearly prevented the creation of Mordor, so all of these events should in fact make her doubly vengeful. Since, you know, she was proven completely right.
great video as always volcanic boulders can indeed sometimes be thrown hundreds of miles, some times even thousands of miles. it takes a supervolcano, like the yellowstone caldera. boulders from that were found i believe in parts of south dakota, many hundred miles away.
Why...the eff...was this ever...EVER...made? It's beyond insulting...I feel the profound urge to vomit every time I watch a review because there was NO DAMN WAY I was going to waste a single second of my life actually watching the series. Detractors of this series are absolutely correct - Rings of Power is a total mockery of J.R.R. Tolkien and his masterful creation: Middle Earth.
Season 1 had so many plots that are just horrible. The orc tunnel that got dug and sword hilt to open a dam, which then restarts a volcano is just one of the worst.
52:41 I suggest that we make the chap Galathil, Celeborn 's brother . I think the show is too "straightforward," and it will spice it up a bit. Also, it will bring a special meaning to Galadriel's & Elrond's kiss.
May God grant peace to JRR Tolkien, flawed for certain (like all of us) but an inspiration to those who with sincerely, and with no little surprise, entered into his art to experience it and ultimately learn from it. For those who seek to subvert his work for fame or profit or politics, you have failed and shall certainly fail in your perversity, like his Melkor and Sauron.
THANK you---the part when Meagan Markle was talking to Duren felt sinister af. Other than her dialogue, the lighting in the scene and her evils eyed did not help!!!

"suddenly fu*king eagle" has quite a different ring to it don't you aggree lmao..
Imagine, took a pyroclastic flow to the whatever and survive without mark but got burned and blind by some wood ash.
Oh thank God it is real. You referenced this in your first Season 2 video and I had no idea what you were talking about.
25:50 Imagine if someone asked me why they should trust a black person, and I said, "You shouldn't, but I'm only HALF BLACK! So it's cool."
The blindfold is another reason I think this was written by ai. It's a secret but she walks around blindfolded.
I love this guy. I would love to have him with me at all times to speak to my enemies for me.
Also, anyone else watching this show just to know why all this shit is being talked on it? 😂 I feel like this is the only method that makes this show bearable. Well, that and a lobotomy.
LMAO! Loved the jab at Hello Future Me
5:23 the thing that I find the most amusing is that the queen lost her vision from a few sparks hitting her face from a burning timber, but the pyroclastic flow didn’t harm anyone seriously.
No you can't argue that, there are burning horses, houses and corpses all around.
The LOLcows would soon have Mighty Morphin Power Elf shouting that Sauron TWITTED MY TIPPLES.
Ok the fixes he proposed for the script was actually amazing. Upvote out of respect.
Very educational about the importance of a Tolkien letter to his friends during WW1. Adds a LOT to the overall analysis and makes me despise Amazon and its show-runners even more. They just took a shit for the sake of money grabbing and "modern audiences"
We may like unusual sports, but at least we drive on the right side of the road (see what I did there?). Looking forward to season 2's commentary!
“You could-“
DEI Hires: Sounds like too much work.
"slower than a paralympic with a puncture" is better writing than anything $1b could come up with
I have read first draft fan fiction that is better and more logically consistent than this bullshit show.
I can't believe I see clips from this show with comments saying "I don't understand why this show gets so much hate" If anyone says that I have to assume they have never actually watched it but at best have it playing in the background while they fuck off on their phone or something.
Really appreciate you finishing the S1 review, Platoon!
I laughed way too hard at the comment over stealing Waldreg's thunder ❤ 55:30
“My house sank” is not a lament one hears often.
Your editing is hypnotic, love it
galadriel is god empress meaning she is sss god tier no' pyroclastic flow. no nukes .no knifes. no sharp sticks can harm her🤣🤣🤣
Edit: I just got to the part of the video where you say exactly this.
What's incredible about Galadriel's "redemption" is that all of her actions should lead to the opposite - she nearly prevented the creation of Mordor, so all of these events should in fact make her doubly vengeful. Since, you know, she was proven completely right.
"not done with the dumb" and "one more egg of solid fuck to lay" is now on my list of favourite expressions
Naw, we're taking no football slander from anyone that knows any Cricket rule..
I need to say that getting s2 vids released ahead of concluding s1 ones is a subtle authors statement on the plot of the show.
great video as always
volcanic boulders can indeed sometimes be thrown hundreds of miles, some times even thousands of miles. it takes a supervolcano, like the yellowstone caldera. boulders from that were found i believe in parts of south dakota, many hundred miles away.
The world physics in ROP is possibly worse than in The Hobbit movie, and they had magical barrel boats and falls of 100s of feet
A dark psalm, the bit about the Somme...The somme of all things...
Casting into the fire
Why...the eff...was this ever...EVER...made? It's beyond insulting...I feel the profound urge to vomit every time I watch a review because there was NO DAMN WAY I was going to waste a single second of my life actually watching the series. Detractors of this series are absolutely correct - Rings of Power is a total mockery of J.R.R. Tolkien and his masterful creation: Middle Earth.
Season 1 had so many plots that are just horrible. The orc tunnel that got dug and sword hilt to open a dam, which then restarts a volcano is just one of the worst.
It really is a very special kind of dumb, that’s for sure.
Platoon, I love all your videos but especially appreciate the occasional (naughty) double entendres. Probably a sign of my prurient nature. 😂😈
53 minutes in: Our Best Boy recognized and mentioned!
3:22 not the KSI new song reference 😂😂
I would love if you could make a video talking about the first age.
Absolute fucking cinema, that would be
Couldn’t give two shits about rangs of powah, but I like Platoon, so I’m gonna play this while I’m going to sleep. Cheers 🥂
Night sorted, cheers Platoon
THANK you---the part when Meagan Markle was talking to Duren felt sinister af. Other than her dialogue, the lighting in the scene and her evils eyed did not help!!!
Everybody knows, horses are more flammable than Elves. Pruno
Anyone else bawl their eyes out for that letter from tolkien?
Honestly the letters of Tolkien added to your videos really ad a lot to your critique not only of what Tolkiens intentions are but also how much his past shaped him but didnt affect his story beat but the description of said stories places.
Extraordinary letter.
Man, gotta give it to ya.. I can't stop laughing at the King Charles, Prince Harry & Megan Markle storyline 😂😂
In desperate search of any interesting trivia I found out Waldreg was in Murder Call crime show which I enjoyed almost two decades ago. He played a resident forensic expert there.
