Something that i think would be good is a dollar store haul for ferrets and mabey some ferret house or toy diys from the dollar store!! (Ps. I love your channel and you are so freaking beautiful)
This is such a good video. I love how open and honest you are about them being a lot of work. It's good for people to see what they are getting into before they impulse buy. I feel like a lot of youtube videos don't show the bad. So thank you for educating people! we need more TH-camrs like you!
awe thank you I really appreciate that. I definitely don't want to glamorize any part of owning animals, bc unfortunately that's all that exists on youtube about Sugar Gliders and those were purchased for me as a pet and they were not a good pet for me. I wish someone had been more up front about caring for them! I plan on doing a similar video about sugar gliders soon, so that people don't get into a similar situation! Definitely not fair for the animals.
@@KristenLeanneVlog Great idea to do a similar video for sugar gliders - they really are high maintenance little things!! And messy with the food throwing 😅
I switched my ferrets to raw food and it took some time to get them use to it(I started them on freeze dried raw which they went crazy for and then gradually started mixing In raw meat till they would eat just raw) but the benefits are great! their poop isn’t as smelly, not as much, and it’s more on the solid side now instead of the more liquidy side (which makes it a hell of a lot easier to clean up) Their fur is softer and they just have more energy in general. Definitely recommend if you have the time to do it! :)
their poop shouldn't be diarrhea, and really doesnt smell if theyre getting the right diet. Also, they need a absolute minimum of 4 hours free roam time around the house, mine personally get about 10 hours though. Ferrets really shouldn't be in their cage that much. It worries me that you mentioned you only have them out while you are cleaning, Also, you mentioned having a hard time switching to raw, it took me three months! it is not easy but it is worth is by far. youll save money on vet bills too!
PLEASE READ THIS COMMENT IT WILL HELP YOU! Thanks! This is just some suggestions I’m not saying any of this to be rude...... First of all the corner litter boxes are not recommended or ok for them you should use puppy pads or litter boxes for cats. Also water bottles are no good ferrets can get dehydrated from them I suggest using a bowl for water just like the bowls you have for food. Last thing Wysong food is not recommended or a good ferret food I know you said they won’t eat raw but a way to get them used to it is put some pieces in there kibble until eventually they are on raw completely
Girl, paper based bedding is soooo much less messy, it’d make your life so much easier!! Plus, instead of corner litter boxes you could try cat ones or just cut out plastic bins of the right size, that way you can decide how low to cut the entrance and they have more space to hang out in there and keep the rest of the cage mess free ♥️ Hope you see this because it’s hard to watch a fellow ferret owner struggle 😹
Wysong DS should be fed with another food that includes a heavy protein, as Wysong lacks it. Try mixing in Ziwipeak Chicken Cat Food to help! Also, you can use puppy pads as well! They're inexpensive and come in a BIG box!
Also, water bottles with nozzles like that can damage their teeth, even the ones that are marketed for dogs. They're lapping animals, so a bowl that can attach to the cage is always best!
i think it would be fun to see a cage redo, deep cleaning their cage, taking them outside or any “fun” place, i also think you could do a care guide... anyways love the video! ✨
Why not let them roam around while you're filming in the beginning? They clearly want out of the cage... also, as was commented below, constant diarrhea is not normal and is very dehydrating and they don't get a proper amount of water with those type of water bottles :(

ferrets should not have constant diarrhea , this is not normal at all. i see you feed wysong which is known to cause diarrhea and GI issues. a raw diet truly is the best thing you can feed , ferrets imprint on their food and need to be transitioned through balanced raw soups. it’s not always easy to transition ferrets but you have a large community of people who would be more than willing to help you. freeze dried raw cat food such as feline naturals is also a great option and much more helathy for ferrets. personally i see this video and think your ferret care is mediocre at best. please look into changing their diet and don’t use water bottles. you could be such a great influence for ferrets and ferret owners everywhere !
You can also feed kibble. Nothing is wrong with that. Wysong DS just needs to be mixed with a heavy protein kibble as well. I always suggest Ziwipeak cat food.

Ferrets are so awesome. i have seven right now (owning 9 in total) half of them I've gotten from other people who could no longer take care of them. I can not express enough that owning ferrets is no joke. I have 4 seniors so I am at the vet like every other month for wellness checks and such. If I am home my ferrets are out and playing. You need to have lot of 1-on-1 time with your ferrets if you don't have at least 4 hours everyday to hang out with them don't even consider getting one. They are such sensitive little guys and depression can seriously effect them. I love them all so much but they do take up a lot of time and are a TON of responsibility. Like you said I don't really recommend them for kids unless parents are willing to be heavily involved in care. I do feel like ferrets make great family pets and can be very sweet and cuddly and even learn tricks and commands but like all animals their personalties differ so what you can expect from one ferret doesn't mean you will get the same behavior from another one. If you plan on getting one DO YOU RESEARCH, like look at every source you can, read every ferret owner story you can and then decide if you think you can handle it. The pine pellets work great for cats too / they actually sell them for cats now, but WAYYYY marked up. Tractor supply wells 40lb bags in the US for $5.99! Sometimes 2/$10 So cats, rabbits, ferrets, rats... works great for ALL the above
Your babies are so cute!!!! I'm so glad you made this video showing how much work they are. I have a solo free roam ferret, going on 4 years old, named Cooper. The store I adopted him from specifically had him caged alone because he was food/toy/bed aggressive and would attack other ferrets who tried to touch "his things". He is fully house trained, free roams the house, and uses litter boxes, but he does have occasional accidents (like 10 a year) I just have one tip for you and anyone else reading! I use those same pellets for my ferret and 3 cats- even with that many animals using the litter one 40 pound bag lasts me all month! Because I use a sifter box- it's life changing highly recommend!!! My cats use a huge litter box but when cleaning litter I dump it into the sifter to separate good pellets from the pee soaked shavings/dust whatever you want to call it. It saves so much more money using a sifter box! One 40 pound bag of pellet litter is $5.99 at my local stores and I only use one bag every two-ish months thanks to the sifter box! Specifically I use the Pet Mate Arm & Hammer Large Sifting Litter Pan off Amazon!
Dang! They are a lot of work daily. It certainly is a dedication especially with all your other animals. Plus with all your variety of beauty products a d activities. Truly impressive 🙌🏼 You are a woman of many talents 🤩💖
I have 3 ferrets and they are free roam in a whole room and they want nothing more to get out of the room and when we let them out into more rooms they still want out. It is Beyond cruel to keep them in a cage especially having three in such a small cage
My husband and I had a wonderful ferret named Bugsy that we rescued, (previous owners kept him in a small cage in the basement 😢) and he was the light of our lives. He passed away (humanely euthanized) from adrenal gland disease and we miss him dreadfully. Although we love ferrets, we wouldn't get another one. Bugsy was special, and those little guys are ALOT of work. They're well worth it, but once was enough.
Thanks for the comment about ferrets and rabbits! I have both also, and my ferrets won’t touch eggs or meat and don’t bother the rabbit. And my rabbit is not fearful of them at all as she has been around them since she was a baby! I also hear this from people so it’s nice to see someone else in the same boat.
We have a bird...ppl (us included) don't realize when they get them that they projectile poop...to protect the wall behind her cage we put a plastic floor mat that goes under a desk chair...so much easier to clean, cheap and would work behind your ferret enclosure too.
If you put some plastic tubing, like the ones used for ventilation or even just the tubes ferrets use to run through, and cut one side down the middle you can pop them on the top of your rabbit enclosure to stop the ferrets from being able to climb over. This is how I made my baby gates unclimbable for my ferret (before we started building diy plexiglass gates).
Water bottles are bad for their teeth (cause wear and tear over time) I also cover my smaller platforms in my ferret nation with pillowcases with a nice blanket folded inside, they like to burrow in there - Its cheap and provides extra sleeping spaces! Another thing worth checking into is getting a large cat litter pan for litter boxes instead of the corner ones. It provides them with more space and they are less likely to cake all that poop in the corner. I use the same type of litter and ended up buying two of each that stacked and drilled holes in the top one. It sifts the litter and is the best way to get rid of the sawdust - makes the litter situation so much less work!
I had two ferrets as a kid and they were my favorite pet I ever had. My parents made me do a lot of the work I could bc I wanted them. The male I had used to be a little thief he’d go in my moms purse and steal paper and hair ties and one time he stole a glove and hid it under the couch 😂 the female I had used to love squeak toys and anything that made noise😅
Oyyyyy vey. Love that you mentioned how much work they are cause they really really are. For anyone thinking about getting ferrets: Can I just add that those water bottles are awful, using a clip on bowl is much better, they will drink more and not wreck their teeth. Also, taking the litter boxes out of the cage daily and wiping them down with a wet paper towel will make life much easier. You won’t have as much trouble with the poop sticking to the litter box, and the smell won’t be as bad. It’s a pain in the ass but it makes life easier in the long run.
Sure half of it is I just have a issue with the litter boxes and water... that's way to small to feed a whole week to your ferret you atleast clean it once a week I appreciate that but please also find a new litter box to her, before buying one search for proper care and yes everything else it fine.
your ferret care is honest really good, i would just suggest water bowls in favor of a bottle because bottles are known for chipping away ferrets’ teeth
To save you even more money use a shifting litter box for that type of litter so that way you can save the pellets that are not broken down and reuse them.
Hi! (You might know this ) Critter/ferret nation has guards for when your little friends poop in the corners. Those Save the walls and sides of the cages from poop I put them in trouble corners... also Joanns always has a flannel or fleece sale that is way cheaper than getting premade lining. Btw You are amazing !
You could do a daily routine (routine of the entire day) You could do a decorating ferret cage You could do a play day But do whatever you want to do I love your vids btw and don’t get me started on how cute all your ferrets areeee 😍🤍🥺 xx
I'm using this to ignore my nervousness that is so high that I'll purposely get an injury so severe I go to the hospital. Just to get out what I may or may not have to do tomorrow :)
I love love love ferrets, and I kept them for around 5 years. But, I'd never do it again. They are so much work, and are extremely expensive on all fronts if you take care of them right. "Exotic" vet visits are double the cost of your typical dog or cat, and not a lot of vets specialize in these little guys. Example: I took one of my ferts to the vet I took my cat to because she was starting to go bald on her butt. I spent a bunch of money on the vet visit alone and didn't have enough to start the adrenal treatments, which they diagnosed her with. A few months went by and her hair had all grown back. I contacted a ferret rescue and they said it was likely just seasonal alopecia, and sure enough, she never had the issue again. Another time one of mine ate some carpeting and had to get surgery to remove the blockage, that was over $1,000. Most Marshall's ferrets (the ones you'll find in the big brand pet stores) end up passing away from Adrenal or Insulinoma(one of mine did), it's very very common. Overall it's 5-7 years of slinky sweet love, for sure, but also just...the worst heartbreak and pain...and an empty wallet.
my boyfriend and i just bought a pad thats for the bottom of the ferrets cage it soaks up the pee and poop juices (not to be gross) and it gets rid of the smell. i clean the cage twice a week. sunday and wednesday. Leaf has neurological issues due to him coming from Marshals ferret farm which is an awful place of inbreeding. the only thing in my opinion is annoying about them is the constant training required for them. in the end all of this is worth it for those adorable cat snakes
The best diet a ferret could have Israel so they stay healthy what I did when I got my ferrets is I would blend up 75% cible mixed with 25% raw meat and I would do that for two weeks and then after that 50% cible and 50% raw meat and I did that for two weeks and so on until we completely switched over to Raw and it worked really well!!! I totally recommend!
You should do a video simular to the really old one you did for the rats a long time ago where you go to the dollar tree and find things that they would like. My dollar tree has a ton of fleece blankets and baby toys right now that they may like!
same i also go through a bag a month, and ferrets do get loose poops from wysong i have noticed so i mix it with 1/3:3/3 marshall’s to wysong. i know it isn’t the best but it keeps it from getting too watery and it’s only a little bit of it
Omg she is right, ferrets are a LOT. Mine tore their litter box off the wall of their cage and poop through the bars. They are also thieves, I routinely find piles of pens and socks hidden under furniture where the weasels have stolen and hoarded things lol
You should definitely try getting them a water bowl so they can get more water out of it. I recommend try feeding them different foods such as cat food, raw foods, try not to feed them fruit and veggies. Your ferrets are too cute.
You should put dog pads at the bottom of the litter it helps keep it’s clean also i just figured put that the litter box is a cat litter you just cut it but it’s big and there’s 4 litter box
Did you custom build that rabbit fence/gate!!! I feel like that is the one thing I could do that my baby (rabbit) wouldn’t escape from 🤣🤣 if you bought it though - where is it from? I need it!!! 🥰 p.s. your ferrets are so cute... I can’t 🥺
Can you do a video like this on rats? I have 8 and everyone wants rats but not everyone realizes how much work it is to take care of them like ferrets.
I think I've done a few rat videos, but not a morning routine! I don't currently have rats, but I would love to again soon once I rehome some of the rescues I've got here. Rats are the same amount of work if not more bc they are awake a lot more than ferrets and less potty trained!!!
@@tikikettell3598 just wanted to say hell yes rats are a lot of work! I have 12 currently and they are absolutely wonderful companions but their care is complicated and they form bonds with their people comparable to dogs. They require a ton of social time with their owner as well as stimulation/enrichment when they are in their relatively enormous heavily cluttered cage. Not to mention the health issues rats are prone to. Medical care is a common requirement despite excellent husbandry.
Oh, my daddy always wanted a ferret. He thought they would be an awesome fun pet. But he just had cats and spent every dime he had went to those kitty cats.

@@KristenLeanneVlog for my noodle I bought a bird bath that attaches to the side of his cage. Mine also would knock over is water bowl. He cant knock that over now. I got mine at walmart for 3 bucks. have you thought of DIYing sifting litter boxes? it would be a time saver and you could really get all the dust out! :)
Ferrets are so cute I want one so bad
My husband and I had a wonderful ferret named Bugsy that we rescued, (previous owners kept him in a small cage in the basement 😢) and he was the light of our lives. He passed away (humanely euthanized) from adrenal gland disease and we miss him dreadfully. Although we love ferrets, we wouldn't get another one. Bugsy was special, and those little guys are ALOT of work. They're well worth it, but once was enough.
I didn't know i needed this type of content in my life 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I would never own one but oml I want to play with one. They are so frickin cute
Awwwww I love that you put movies on for them✨✨
We have a bird...ppl (us included) don't realize when they get them that they projectile poop...to protect the wall behind her cage we put a plastic floor mat that goes under a desk chair...so much easier to clean, cheap and would work behind your ferret enclosure too.
i love ferrets! i used to own 2 until they passed... sweet sweet babies
I love your animals and I love how much you love your animals. You have a good heart. Keep doing what you're doing. 💯💜
I busted out laughing when you said shit I was like wait rewind lolol
I'd love to see more, even just a ferret playtime vid or a "How my animals play" vid
@itzMilah why do you say that?
Water bottles are bad for their teeth (cause wear and tear over time)
I also cover my smaller platforms in my ferret nation with pillowcases with a nice blanket folded inside, they like to burrow in there - Its cheap and provides extra sleeping spaces!
I would love to see what kinds of enrichment you provide for each animal!!!
Ferrets are my favorite mammal :)
That animal mom moment of "oh are you going to poop" 😂😂 im dead girl
I had two ferrets as a kid and they were my favorite pet I ever had. My parents made me do a lot of the work I could bc I wanted them. The male I had used to be a little thief he’d go in my moms purse and steal paper and hair ties and one time he stole a glove and hid it under the couch 😂 the female I had used to love squeak toys and anything that made noise😅
The little footies are so cute!
You playing with them. And the different toys they play with! Ferret content
omg I can't believe you do that everyday
i’m saving the money to buy ferrets! and i just found your channel. you seem like such a good pet owner💕
Sure half of it is I just have a issue with the litter boxes and water... that's way to small to feed a whole week to your ferret you atleast clean it once a week I appreciate that but please also find a new litter box to her, before buying one search for proper care and yes everything else it fine.
Thank you for showing us labor of love. 💜
I had a ferret as a kid. It was my best friend. I cleaned the cage and she took baths with me every night.
your ferret care is honest really good, i would just suggest water bowls in favor of a bottle because bottles are known for chipping away ferrets’ teeth
Girl... I was literally just thinking YESTERDAY that I wish you would post!!! And Boom, here you are!! 💜
I felt the summon!!!
To save you even more money use a shifting litter box for that type of litter so that way you can save the pellets that are not broken down and reuse them.
I loveeee the set up. Please switch to a water bowl bc the water bottle can have bacteria clogged up and don’t provide enough water for the ferrets
Hi! (You might know this )
Critter/ferret nation has guards for when your little friends poop in the corners. Those Save the walls and sides of the cages from poop I put them in trouble corners... also Joanns always has a flannel or fleece sale that is way cheaper than getting premade lining.
Btw You are amazing !
Would suggest joanns because you can buy so much fleece, it’s like buying in bulk during sales 🤗
Hey Kristen! I get my pine pellets from tractor supply. Its 40 pounds for 5.99 (:
I got some from TSC too! But my prices are higher here. Wth haha Not much... they're onlly like $7
I love seeing your beautiful self and all your babies ❤❤❤
You could do a daily routine (routine of the entire day)
You could do a decorating ferret cage
You could do a play day
But do whatever you want to do I love your vids btw and don’t get me started on how cute all your ferrets areeee 😍🤍🥺 xx
thank you for the good ideas!!
@@KristenLeanneVlog no problem happy to help you out thanks for the reply ❤️ x
We have ALOT same pets! Ferrets hedgehog sugar gliders and iguana ! Yes pet fund VERY important
their little faces, so cute!!
Good luck in your recovery process
can u please od a video on how to take care of your ferret and tips?
They are also thieves, I routinely find piles of pens and socks hidden under furniture where the weasels have stolen and hoarded things lol
lol I have my litter boxes CONNECTED to the cages so they can't move them!!!
You should definitely try getting them a water bowl so they can get more water out of it. I recommend try feeding them different foods such as cat food, raw foods, try not to feed them fruit and veggies. Your ferrets are too cute.
More ferret content plz!
They are cute but they are a lot of work I can see. Your such a good mommy♥️
I can’t 🥺
they are so cute! 🥰
@@KristenLeanneVlog oh okay, I'll take a look. Thank you and yes I do agree.
@@tikikettell3598 bless you for taking care of 8 rats btw. That's impresive!! Most i've had at once was three and that was a lot!!
@@KristenLeanneVlog I love them so much but it is a lot of work. 🙂
So thankful for solid bunny poops. I love your babies 😍😍😍😍 that is the same type litter I use! From the local feed and seed
I KNOW HUH. I clean the bunnie's cage after the ferrets every morning and their poop IS SO MUCH EASIER!!!!
Love all ur vids ❣️❣️❣️❣️ ur such a good person inside out ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌
awe that's so sweet of you to say, thank you so much.
Aww so sweet!! Have you ever thought of trying to train your ferrets (or any of your pets) any tricks?
Oh, my daddy always wanted a ferret. He thought they would be an awesome fun pet. But he just had cats and spent every dime he had went to those kitty cats.
I’m not liking the comments on this video. Kristen is an animal lover and would never intentionally do anything bad to her animals. I wish people would be more respectful with their words. Everyone has their own way of doing things and I’m sure she has done her research. I understand people are trying to inform her on their way of doing things but people can be informative without being rude.
i stopped watching another video as soon as i saw this oh my gosh!!! I have 4 myself and they are my favourite pet ever :)
You should do anther feeding all my pet video
If your rabbit digests those pine pellets it could cause GI stasis so just be watching but other than that I love everything your doing!!
please do an updated meet all my pets video!!
Really enjoyed this video! 👍
love your ferrets and bunnies!
2:50 yep mine do and on the wall and the carpet
FEWWETTS!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌
i love ferrets! 😍 hope that someday i can have ferrets too, but right now it‘s not possible for me. i would suggest you to give your ferrets water bowls instead of the drinking bottles 😊
Sometimes I do! But they knock them over 😬😬
@@KristenLeanneVlog for my noodle I bought a bird bath that attaches to the side of his cage. Mine also would knock over is water bowl. He cant knock that over now. I got mine at walmart for 3 bucks. Its helped with constanty having to clean his bedding. Everything was always wet. Also a litter pan never worked for him either. He would poop outside of it. He uses the same corner to poop when in cage and has his special corner for when he is out of the cage so I just put down pee pads. I use the feline pine for his cage. Ferrets are awsome and yours are soooooo cute!!!
Sheesh! I just want one. For me and my 11 year old daughter. She was born a day before by bday and I’ve been wanting one since her age. So I’m trying to make it happen. That difficult for one? For my 11 year old girl about to be 12? We kinda want it for each other for our bdays but problem is…. I’m a truck driver. Not home as normal. Any advice? She/ us just want one. Great video and very educational! Keep up the good work girl.
