It can be a rewarding major depending on what you want to do. (I go to a university that requires art students across different majors to learn HTML and basic web design.)

so I'm a high school senior and I'm doing applications for college and I'm sort of just stuck. I am at a fork in the road for what I want to do. On one hand I love art it has always been a passion of mine even though I don't feel good enough for art school. On the other hand I want to do something that I guess will give me a career. not that pursuing art is bad but I know not everyone makes it. I have my family that would always say my art was amazing and now they want me to figure out my career, and art isn't in that picture. I'm just so conflicted. I want to do what I want but at the same time I want to be able to rely on something that will bring money in. I just keep thinking what if when Im 40 something and I wake up dreading my life at a boring job with awful people and I regret my life because it's not the life I imagined I would be living. Ah I just want to die.
I think you already know what you want to do, but you are afraid to take the risk. Just because art doesn't guarantee a job right away, it does not mean you will be unhappy. If you choose to set up your life with the goal to just get any job, you will always be unhappy. My mom always told me that if I do something that I enjoy, it may be rough, but with passion and hard work, the money will come. Life is about enjoying everyday, not surviving each day. I hope this helps. 💕

I'm that way. I am also a college student, and I spend most of my days by myself. My roommate actually moved out of our dorm at the beginning of this semester, so I truly have been alone a lot. But I like it. I kind of find comfort in my aloneness. Gives me room to think without being clouded by concern over what anyone else is doing.

I live in providence and see all of these shops daily, but something about seeing another person walk into them and talk about them makes everything feel really special and unique. Also, that downtown area also has really cool festivals in the summer and shows movies in the empty lot.

I will say, if there's one good thing about us, it's Downtown Providence's artsy-vintage-small shop vibe. I know this is an older video but if you haven't yet, check out Thayer street! It's similar to that area of Downtown with some cool restaurants thrown in.
