- hello! this vlog is a compilation of footage from last week, and it might be somewhat intimidating. I was a bit nervous to film and include the times where I was really cranky and just super upset- but I figured that it is part of my week and (a pretty important part of how I was feeling) so there was no point of cutting it out and pretending like my life is all happy and successful. Hope you guys can somewhat relate to what I mean- I want myself to be as genuine as possible in my vlogs. you guys are my friends and family, and this is what I would show myself to people that I care about. I do want to be comfortable in the vlogs, and I want my channel to be a comfortable space for you. With that said, hope you enjoyed it! I am going to try to make a weekly vlog that will be released on fridays or saturdays. Thank you so much for watching, and reading this. Thanks for sharing your roommate stories! It is actually SUPER common for roommates to have issues with sleep schedules. I had a roommate who would stay up until 3 AM working too except she refused to turn her lights off, made lots of noise, and instead of offering to move out, she tried to arrange for me to leave without talking about it with me first.
I'm glad your roommate was willing to move and you guys could remain friends.

I'm the same way with trying to sleep. If I hear a tv on in another room, a clicking sound, or anything, I can't sleep. But I do have a fan on in my room, so the white noise really helps. Maybe you could give that a try!

I sleep with a fan too. I can pretty much sleep with noise around me but it is a lil irritating.
ya me too. I share a room with my stepsister and whenever she makes a noise or a light is on in the hallway, it bothers the crap out of me and I can't sleep

OMG!!! Your DIY Planner with the leaves on it showed up randomly in my suggested videos and I am SO glad I watched it!! Because then I watched a room decorating video and saw this need to chill video in the side bar. I was going to watch it then I wasn't but then I did and I am so glad I did because as I was watching I noticed on the side bar a video that had RISD in the thumbnail. I live in the next town over from Providence! It is so cool to see someone doing TH-cam right here in our little state!! I'm glad you kept in the parts that showed your genuine feelings!! People relate more to "things that are real" better than through a "perfect" filter.

I FEEL you on the roommate situation. I'm a senior at NYU and my freshman year was hell because I usually go to sleep before midnight and my roommate would sleep from like 6-9 PM and then work until 6 AM. Glad you have an understanding roomie willing to move out! I was on our roommate swap list for like 6 months until the summer and just suffered with ear plugs and a face mask.

when I was young and scared of the dark, I got my Web designer dad to stay in my room for a bit before I fell asleep every night for a good 2 months. of course he was on his computer working so now computer clicky noises make me sleepy :)

Roommate storytime! I'm in my freshman year of college right now, and I had a roommate first semester, and we somewhat got along. There were some issues at first that she was basically a neat freak, and I am not a neat freak. I'm not super messy, but I also don't have an issue with there being clutter or dishes sitting for maybe like a day or two if I'm really busy. Life comes first, you know? So first semester comes and goes with minimal issue. And then second semester rolls around, and we get about a week into the second semester, and I wake up one morning with a text from my wonderful roommate, who, by the way, was never in our dorm, saying that she was "tired of the mess" in the room (even though it wasn't really messy to begin with). Keep in mind, I basically live in my dorm room. I'm a huge introvert so I don't go out very much, and I spend most of my time in the dorm. My roommate, however, would literally go days without even stepping foot in our room. She stayed at her girlfriend's place 80% the time. So, really, she didn't have much of a reason to be complaining. And then about two weeks after that argument, I start noticing her stuff is slowly disappearing from the room, and I'm like okay whatever. And then after about a week of things slowly disappearing, I take a 2-hour nap (and keep in mind I'm a really heavy sleeper) and I wake up after 2 hours and all of the stuff under her bed (her main storage space) was gone. And then 2 days later I go home for the weekend. And I'm gone for 3 days. I get back, and literally all of her stuff is gone. She didn't bother to tell me that she was leaving. She didn't bother letting me know where she was going. So, now I live alone. For the rest of the semester. And don't have to worry about petty roommate conflict. ☺️

This was originally posted 2 (almost 3) years ago and I have since had 2 other roommates. The one after the roommate in my story was absolutely wonderful and we got along really well. The next one was even worse than the first. She hated me so much that I don't even think she spoke a total of 10 words out loud to me in the first semester. I got her a small christmas gift and didn't even get a thank you, that's how much she hated me. For no reason! She didn't talk to me from the first day she moved in (I moved in 2 weeks before her).
@@taylorbritt499 living with such weird roommates really teach you how to be more patient and tolerant for your future 😆 Hopefully you have had the share of horrid roommates and never have to live with such people again

You can download this thing called f.lux onto your computer. It adjusts the color of your screen throughout the day and REALLY helps. Late at night, rather than staring at a BRIGHT WHITE screen with blue tints, it's more yellowy. You can't really tell at all. I'm so used to it and I love it. Whenever I turn it off, it's shocking how bright white/blue it is.

Oh my gosh I'm so excited to hear about these glasses! I've recently had a hard time with getting sore eyes after using the computer and I went to an eye doctor and they were like you're fine you don't need glasses. talking about roomates,i never thought of having probs with it..until I experienced it myself. Its already semester 2 and im still struggling like..how not to be awkward with my roomates. OMGG HAHa, my current roommate (who just moved in) also had a TERRIBLE "tornado" roommate too 😰 but she's with me now much better hehe. However my first room mate was really nice, just always stayed up late T_T Thank you btw!!
speaking of roommates, i had an agreement with my first roommate that we would talk it out and she came back to the room and told me she wanted me to move out- i ask her why and she said she was talking to the others and such about not having space... legit she took up majority of the room. anyways i moved out. i liked my 2nd roommate for a few reasons, the room smelled like a coffee shop, we where both quiet which help me and i believe her as well in getting our assignments done. she was adorable at times too lol- offering to buy me pizza and vegan food. i got a new roommate for the second semester and it was okay until she started drinking, smoking and parting, and she would come back to the room around 2 ish, make phones calls at the time and start to yell in the phone. When i tried doing my work she'll start playing loud music that distracted me a lot- i usually did work around 12-4 ish when she went somewhere. ;; im really hoping i have a better roommate this upcoming fall.
