You're so right about nature being fast to reclaim old railway land. It's interesting to see the clues along the way that tell the story of the location's past. For much of this, if you didn't know there was once a railway you would be forgiven for thinking it was just a well-trodden path. Nice video. The viaducts are incredible... Great pieces of engineering.
Thank you and thanks for watching. It really is a case sometimes of using your imagination until you can find something more permanent. I suppose that's the fun of finding these relics now .
A lovely video but it's always sad to see how this main line has ended up. Someone proudly built those beautiful bridges not realising how one day they would end up. This lovely walk along the old track bed makes me wonder what it looked like before they built the line. A few relaxing minutes, many thanks Middy.
Thanks for watching and like you I find these walks are always tinged with sadness I I think of the hours and hours the men of the day toiled to build these things and we just simply closed them to save a few lousy quid which we wasted elsewhere.
Thank you for watching. I love this walk and it's nice and easy for a change. Damage is inevitable as time marches on and the crossing bridge has aged in the last two years. I just try and enjoy them whilst I still can!
That's a lovely section to walk, both of those bridges are something else, they really are. It's a shame that all infrastructure is gone, it would be nice to come across the odd signal post!!!!
Thanks for watching as always. A lovely walk and yes there is a lack of stuff!! There is a bit more to see closer to Cosby but I had a technical problem and didn't film it! I will add it as a short at some point as it's a real treasure 👍
Thanks for watching and for your continued support. It's such a lovely peaceful walk. I have walked it so many times and always find something different!
Relaxing indeed. I find it odd that both routes were closed. I Remember the revival plans at turn of century, got as far as second reading I believe. We would have had a working freight route by now, said that the rejection of plans after so much work killed the chap off. I never understood, I guess the Department of Transport and MP;s had better offers if you get my meaning?
Thanks for watching. Yes I feel the two routes were a victim of other plans rather than their own profitability or future. The nearby roar of the M1 tells a story all on its own...
Great walk especially now the natural growth has started to die back . The proximity of the M1 has now ironically been this part of the GCR's savior, in that nothing will be built on it due to its extremely close proximity .
Thanks for watching. According to our misinformed local Tory MP we could have trains running back on there in 'weeks'! Misinformed as always but was a local vote winner in the past election!!! A beautiful walk and like you say ironically safe due to being so close to the road that killed it.
@MiddyExplores Was this footage of the walk that we did together, as I don’t seem to recall you doing much filming that day? Or is my ageing brain playing tricks on me?! Lovely video all the same, and some gorgeous old railway architecture to savour too.
All good thank you. I was ill all over Christmas so couldn't get out but I am better now so you should start seeing some new videos over the next week or so! Some real good stuff coming up 👍 thanks for your support 👍

Great video. What a nice section of the GC. Bridges still in great condition too. I know some can be very badly damaged.

So cool to watch along the walk and imagine how it all was once years ago 😄🚂

Thanks a lot for a nice walk. Have a great day my friend!
Thank you for watching and you too ,👍
I did this walk earlier this year, after watching your first video. It's a great place to get lost in your thoughts.
Thanks for watching. Probably my favourite easy walk and there's still stuff I find after all this time!
Very relaxing...
Thanks for watching. I love that walk and wanted to share it!

@@MiddyExplores Ahh yes definitely come back to Rugby when better weather arrives Spring time onwards. Ashlawn Bridge is amazing 👍
