Kiribati Making Small gardens provide big improvements in people's lives.

- These islands may look like paradise, but over the last 20 years life has become much harder for Kiribati’s 120,000 residents.
Kiribati is made up of 33 small low-lying atolls dispersed across 3.6 million square kilometres of Pacific Ocean, an area larger than India.
Climate change, limited access to safe drinking water, and malnutrition have forced many islanders to leave their homes on the outer islanders and set up home on the main island of Kiribati.
As a result, almost half of the population now lives here causing huge overcrowding in the capital Tarawa. With limited land to grow things, IFAD and the Government of Australia through the PIRAS programme has provided gardening cubes and seeds to help islanders grow their own food to eat and sell.
