    What a gorgeous lineup of pens! I think we have very similar pen tastes! I absolutely love my TRC factory green FP, TWSBIs and that Shape of Heart is so lovely. I love the neutral palette.

      We definitely do! If I remember, from your last pen updates you had a sort of neutral botanical theme too right? (I think that's what I'll call our palette, lol) The TRC pen is so handy, isn't it? I feel like it's such an underrated little pen and feels so natural to write with. I remember drooling over your collection, especially that verdigris colored Pilot and your gorgeous vintage pens! They are so dreamy 😍

    I love the kaweco sport line! I think because I like to switch out my inks and pens so often, I don’t mind the small amount of ink they can carry.

    • @FrenchyInFocus

      They truly are a perfect little pen. On the voice over I have 10 min of me talking about how much I loved the Kawecos. I'm the same way, even with my TWSBI I just end up putting the ink back in the bottle to switch it up lol

    I was using fountain pens for a long time. I think it was 6th grade - 2003, maybe 7th. I am left handed and I had a lot of problems with gel pens in school when taking notes, so I have tried to use one of my dad's fountain pens (It was a Parker pen. I am not sure if I still have that same one or it is a different one) and I fall in love with it. :)
    Right now I have 5 fountain pens inked (a Kaweco Sport Sage green (B), 2 Lamy Safari - Strawberry (LH) and Cream (EF), a Faber-Castell Ambition OpArt Coral (F) and a Rotring ArtPen(F)). I have 2 more Parker ones somewhere in a box. One steel pen from my dad's collection and one that I got from my husband when we were still in Uni like almost 12 years ago, that has a creaked body now unfortunately.
    Furthermore, I have just ordered 2 Ferris Wheel Press with a really good deal of 2for1 Joule Pens (Hopefully I won't regret it). I still thinking about a Pilot Custom 823 as I heard a lot of good thing about it and it looks gorgeous. But price wise it is a big investment and cost too much for a mistake.

    Your collection is absolutely fabulous!! I’m not sure if I’m a collector or user. I do think I tend to lean toward user. My “the one” pen was the Pilot Vanishing point in matte black, it’s my happy pen place.

    • @FrenchyInFocus

      Thank you! I really need to try the regular sized VP, I know I would love it ! The Decimo just feels too flimsy - it's a shame cus the nib is so nice.

  • @taccora
    @taccora 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I am over a decade into the hobby and feel like I'm a user who collects, lol. I don't know if I've found my "perfect pen", but my top 5 have too be an Esterbrook Estie with a needlepoint nib, Pilot 742 with FA nib, a Platinum 3776 with a F nib, Benu Euphoria with a F nib, and a Pilot Vanishing Point with an EF nib just because it's super convenient.
    Honorable mention is the Platinum 3776 with an UEF nib and wet (well lubricated) ink.

    • @FrenchyInFocus
      @FrenchyInFocus  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      😂😂😂 I love that, a user that collects! You top favorites sound like a dream team!! I really need to try the bigger VP, I enjoyed the EF nib, but the decimo body. It felt so cheap and uncomfy. I need to try an FA nib too! I keep forgetting they exist, I'm intimidated by flex nibs - I don't wanna ruin anything

    • @taccora
      @taccora 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FrenchyInFocus The FA is nice. You barely need to apply any pressure to get it to flex. Your normal writing will get you the variation easily.
      I'm tempted to get a falcon nib. Everyone says that if I love my FA now, I'll go crazy over a true falcon nib.

      It really is! There are so many pens and different nibs. Even just choosing between Japenese nib vs German makes a huge difference! What pens do you currently have in your collection?

    • @SM-JIL
      @SM-JIL 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just bought the Pilot 823 you’ve recommended and it’s a STUNNING pen! I already had the Lamy Safari and a cheaper Pilot ( can’t remember the name of it now) I can see what you mean about the Pilot 823 being a beautiful pen! It feels perfect and writes beautifully. Looks so elegant! Can I ask one question - which pen do you recommend i put next on my list, bearing in mind how high I’m starting now with the Pilot 823? Thanks ! 😍

    • @SM-JIL
      @SM-JIL 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also, I have had a couple of instances when the 823 goes completely dry and I need to dip it in the ink bottle to get it going again - has this happened to you? I use Pilot ink for it. It’s only ever happened twice , other than those, it’s been a dream. Is it something I’ve done wrong?

    • @FrenchyInFocus
      @FrenchyInFocus  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SM-JIL That's so weird!! Do you twist your blind cap fully each time? I noticed if you twist it half way the pen will stay sealed, which is a good thing when traveling. Even if sealed, you can write with it for a long time, but you will have to unseal it after 3 pages of writing. I have the habit of just open the seal as soon as I uncap the pen. Also, you can use any ink with the Pilot, even the driest inks write so beautifully with that nib

    What a stunning collection! Thanks for sharing. I have similar thoughts/feelings about the Decimo. I still use it because I love the EF nib that it came with (which I've actually put into another Vanishing Point b/c I prefer using that pen body more). The Vanishing Point pen body is my happy place. I'm certain I would enjoy the Pilot Custom 823 if I let myself try it... what a gorgeous pen. I'm a big fan of Pilot pens. 🥲

      Thank you! I love my little collection, a bit of everything😊I feel like I would love the regular VP body size too. I've been thinking about it for months now and you convinced me, okay I'm just going to purchase the regular vp, probably the cheaper ones on amazon😅 I actually enjoy the EF nib on the decimo, it's the perfect size for little tns and the A6. You would definitely love the Pilot Custom - I am definitely a Pilot girl too - they just have the best nibs I've ever tried!😍

    I love my estie. I have it in a journalers nib. I agree about the Decimo. Such a nice nib but the pen is so skinny it isn’t comfortable for long writing sessions. I am happy to use it for notes or lists. But I also wish I had gotten the VP instead. I have seen so much love for the traveler’s pen, I may need to try it next. You have a beautiful collection. Thanks for sharing it!

      just fyi, you can clean out the Pro Gear refresh nib section. I have a Sailor Pro Gear that I needed to clean out the nib section. and I found a video on youtube that shows how. It's on the Pen Venture youtube channel (Sailor Pro Gear Disassemble Guide).. You would do this at your own risk, but I found it very easy.

    My twsbi mediums have taken shimmers pretty well! Only my 580s clogged with fwp inks hence why I’m selling mine. But I heard that too…that the carousel pens seem to do well with their shimmers lol!!! That’s so odd when their pens aren’t built that well but their feed must have some witchery in it to increase the flow of the shimmers. I agree with you on the Esterbrooks…but for me I know they’d just write the same.. when I pay a premium for Esterbrook I expect the body to look 3x as pretty. It is not. To me at least haha!! Others love them and that’s fine 😊😅

    • @FrenchyInFocus
      @FrenchyInFocus  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I only tried TWSBI in EF and F so far. I just don't know if I'd use the M, I feel like TWBI F is at the cusp of being too thickums for my comfort. I hate the 580, my face instantly cringed seeing 580 - I'm traumatized 😂

    I'm still on the fence about sailors. I'm still trying to figure out the difference between feedback that's acceptable and what is scratchy. I feel like they are dry writers. Can you recommend an ink or two that I should try so they could be smoother or wetter or what you use? I'd love to get a Pilot Custom 823 and I love your 3776 celluloid pens too. I have them on my wishlist. I love my Kaweco in the olive green and irredescent purple and my Twsbis too. I agree with your comments on those as well. I'm still new in this hobby and trying to figure out what I like and I love all the different color inks especially the shimmer ones.

    • @FrenchyInFocus
      @FrenchyInFocus  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m still on the fence about sailors too. If I had to choose one it would be pilot, they are just smooth all around, I find platinum to be super smooth when you go into the M size. I don’t love sailors, except for mine, to be honest, especially when I’ve gotten two nibs that were literally tearing the paper. The only good out of the box experience I had was with the bold nib. It truly feels like a soft warn in pencil with all the edges rounded out, you know what I mean? I haven’t tried the 21k gold sailors and I heard those are so much better. Honestly the best inks in terms of wet inks are probably the reliable pilot iroshizuku or monteverde inks. You could also do the dish soap and toothpick trick to make any ink wetter- I do it allll the time. (Just incase here’s the dish soap method: put some ink in a sample vial and just barely dip the tip of a toothpick in some dawn and stick it into a sample vial, you want like the teeniest bead, and swirl it in the ink sample)
